ARMA2 - British Forces addon just announced.

Ok. Sorry. Just saw it on Blues News, and it wasn't in the news thread. -
Just a basic newb editor question.
wazandy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Sorry guys, very basic one this. I've added CBA, UK Forces, weapons and UKForces 115a into my Arrowhead steam command line. mod=@blah blah;@blah blah etc... How to get to use them in the editor? I'm still only seeing Blufor US and the usual units. Cheers. -
When I insert the AH64 into the editor, how to I access FLIR? I've been pressing 'N' but it doesn't cycle optics, I just get night vision. Bit of a newb quesiton I know, sorry.
-
Should have guessed. Thanks guys. I'll give it a go.

Strange. I get no option to be gunner in the AH64 in editor mode... Even with the middle mouse menu, I see manual fire, but that's it.

An open letter to BIS Devs re: GTX 295 rigs.
wazandy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
As you've no doubt read, there seems to be a major issue with some of the more high-end systems. Specifically those with i7 and GTX295 cards. We're fully aware that all titles are future proofed, and nobody should expect perfect gameplay at point of release, however, the vast majority of people with mid range systems seem to be able to run this engine at a much faster FPS than us. Can someone please hotfix or patch this - or at least give some advice to the many frustrated players with systems such as these. Many of us invested large sums of money SPECIFICALLY to play this title, so it's enormously disappointing to find that we're technologically singled out for very poor performance. You've seen how we're trying to bugfix the source of the problem ourselves, please, you know this game better than anyone. Please let us know what you think is the problem. Thanks in advance..... Huge perfomance increase for Nvidia GTX 295

I can only assume that at 10,000 view distance, the textures are forced to be loaded quicker. At low vd, they pop onto screen whenever you reach a certain distance from them. Sounds odd, I know, but it might explain stuttering. -
Can't seem to get the mods working...
wazandy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Here's what I did. (I'm 1.3 patch obviously..) 1. Downloaded a mod. 2. Created a new folder in the main Arma2 directory called '@modname' 3. Inside the folder, I created a folder called 'Addons' 4. Inside that one I extracted the PBO files for the mod. 5. Ticked the mod name in Linebacker and launched Arma2 through LB itself. 6. No mod seems to be working, and even missions that need a specific mod say that the mod has been 'deleted.' Eh? Have I done something critically wrong? Does the '@' folder name need to be the EXACT mod name for example? Cheers guys, desperate for that RAF Chinook! -
Two islands. LOVE IT. I can see utterly INCREDIBLE MP games with two sodding islands. Attack, defence, ships. Yes. It's the FALKLANDS!

Downloaded it three times now, from two different places. My default folder for Arma2 is not on C, it's on an E drive - but that shouldn't stop a patch... Because I'm getting this: 'Arma2 is not installed on your computer or installation is corrupted.' Got it. Had changed my folder to 'crysis64' (like most of us did.)

Should all i7 users be using all four cores?
wazandy posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
..with the '-cpucount=X' parameter? I don't think I've done it yet. Will I see much a difference? Newbie I know but, thanks... -
I've flown around a fair bit - I have to say that (Misty Mountain?) peak at the far North seems to be a perfect place for a nice hill assault user mission. Has anyone else found any gorgeous / interesting / scenario worthy locations they wouldn't mind sharing pics of (with grid refs of course...!) Cheers!

Even nice mountain roads with great views are fantastic for mini ambush missions. I found a great windy road up north and set an enemy convoy up towards my position. Great fun. -
Based on my initial experiences with ARMA2, I can imagine people complaining about their merchandise on the board. "Dear BIS. I recently bought a mug with the ARMA2 logo on it. When I poured coffee into it it started leaking out of two holes in the bottom. I can now only drink from the mug for about five seconds before the coffee leaks out completely?" BIS: Yes, we know about the leaks. We're working on a patch. Hehe.

I'd pay $5 for the fucking 1.3 patch.

Great. Thanks mate.

Is this a patchable issue? I've had pretty constant issues with my i7 and 295, and I'm very reluctant to roll back my OS. I'm running Vista64, if I go to BIOS and turn off HT - will that improve A2 but hinder other games or is it just a rarely used feature? Cheers.

Almost hand to hand distance with the Taliban footage.

Interesting stuff. Very, very rare to actually see how close the engagements are getting. They're very calm the Brits, even when they're engaging at extremely close ranges. Good on them. -

Call me old fashioned, but doesn't this fall under the 'military' topic? -

Nope, but there have been some very healthy debates about a) immersion b) modern soldiery c) in combat sounds / voices / etc. And as this game is a modern combat simulator, and a good many of the posters have current military backgrounds I would have thought they'd have more place here than the Call of Duty forums. In fact, I'd be actively encouraging general soldiery posts, videos, tactics, war stories etc as a huge amount of mission & mod creators (myself included) would love to create that perfect mission - and this stuff helps. Or, of course, we could continue to crap on about Nvidia drivers - which I've given up doing (or reading) completely. -

There's nothing on the vid to really prove that it happened. Again, it's pretty tame stuff. I think they're referring to Apache gunsight stuff and (obviously) some of the darker stuff you occasionally run into. This was on page one of the Sun newspaper's website - and it didn't bother them.
