Russia and China Veto Secuirty council measures on Syria.
Lauxman replied to eble's topic in OFFTOPIC
So what have the people of Syria ever done for me and my fellow humans in America? And if you really think we're going to bring out M1 tanks on OWS protesters, you really do live in a dream world. Regardless of whether you spent a lot of time in the US or Canada, it doesn't matter. Many of the delusional leaders of terrorist organizations were also educated professionally in Western countries like Britain, America, and Canada... -
Russia and China Veto Secuirty council measures on Syria.

How strategically important are Czechoslovakia or Palestine? How could the people of Palestine benefit American strategic interests more than Israel? What great things have the Balkans done for America, what charity needs to be repaid by the West? Obviously the politicians pretend that foreign policy can accommodate charity. But in foreign policy, there are no friends, only interests. The West does things for the West's benefits, just like every single other government on the planet, and to be surprised by this is very ignorant. -
First of all, Romney is trashing everyone else in the primaries. Second of all, the economy has been slowly reviving in the last year under Obama's administration. Third of all, even if Ron Paul were to get elected, he'd be a president fighting with a Congress that doesn't agree with any of his ideas for 4 years, getting absolutely nothing done. He'd be ineffective.
-
Good thing for Ron Paul's safety that he has no chance to beat President Obama.

Nice to see that the people who hate America also think that Syria is perfectly entitled to massacre their own people. I knew something was wrong with those guys. -
Missions/Campaigns to enjoy OA 1.60 the best way?
Lauxman replied to NIKO MY CUZIN's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
I wish my experience with Chasing Grim Reaper didn't start with those horrible American accents and with soldiers calling themselves "Marines." What is this, Call of Duty writing? -
Brilliant stuff man. I always hated how outdated the formations in Arma still are...rarely does anybody move in a wedge like the default formation, and it always frustrated me as an American soldiers than there's no quick button "Give me 360 security!" something US soldiers are trained to do quickly.

Pretty awesome mission but I'm getting waxed by all of this light armor rolling around.
-
This has to be the most boring, one-sided election I've ever seen. Not nearly as fun or interesting as the last few rounds.
-
There's nothing we can do about it and no sense in hating them. The alternative to private people holding power due to their successful businesses is state-run economics. Care to let me know how that worked out for the Soviet Union?
-
Looks pretty awesome to me, if unrealistic.

Many are private citizens who can do damn well whatever they please with their own money, and have a right to privacy.
-
Yeah, it isn't like there is a game series called Grand Theft Auto or anything...
-
combat in both witchers is awful and boring. I'd rather watch a movie.
-
Really? Not quite. I don't know if you really have played on any random servers, but every time I do and there isn't an admin present, acts of friendly fire or accidentally crashing a chopper always turn into "F***ing noob!" If someone new has the crosshair turned off on a higher difficulty level and asks how to turn it back on, "Go back to COD!" And God forbid if an American is on one end of these arguments and a person of different nationality is on the other end. "Shut up you fat piece of s*** American!" There is no difference in Arma2's community than any other community online. The average number of fools is just lower because the community is that much smaller.

If you're not using addons, then you're missing out on one of the biggest reasons why BIS games are superior to almost every other FPS on the market. I think Modern Warfare 3 will be a blast. Will I spend far more of my life playing Arma 3? Yes. But I can derive plenty of enjoyment from both. I don't have to be a complete elitist about it. The ignorance and elitism of a large portion of the Arma community probably drives away more potential players than anything else. -

Really now. I recall Operation Flashpoint: Resistance as being a quality expansion, with a brilliant campaign. That was a long time ago, and since then, VBS has caught on to the military (though in my experience with it, it is a very weak training tool) and Arma and Arma 2 have probably given even more success to BIS. So what is up with the weak crap DLCs that have come out, with boring and extremely short campaigns? Arrowhead added "features" that we've had for a long time in ACE, and BAF and PMC just gave us stuff that we've already had in addons. Why not work on new features, gameplay, and engine developments instead of feeding us weak content? I'd hardly call overpriced addons as "supporting their games." The Arma franchise is not very different from the Call of Duty business model. -

So what would you call BAF and PMC? And even Arrowhead? -
I'm trying to play the BAF campaign, but whenever I revert to an earlier save I get this error. I'm running with this startup on standalone OA: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead\arma2oa.exe" -nosplash -mod=@CBA;@CBA_OA;@JSRS;@WarFX;@Zeus I'm not using ACE or anything that has to do with the original Arma 2, although I have in the past. How do I fix this?
-
You cannot play/edit this mission...

Thanks, some tweaking with JSRS ended up working for me. -
Sounds like the best soundmod I've ever heard. Literally feels like I'm at a range/demonstration, or watching a video of combat in Afghanistan.

Laser Show, the Mk20, Extensive recoil
Lauxman replied to Angry Priest's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Having fired the civilian version of the SCAR, I can tell you that Arma got it completely wrong. The thing is a beautiful weapon, and I understand why special operations soldiers enjoy using it so much. There is literally zero recoil on it. You barely have to adjust your sight picture once you've fired your first round, if at all. And that is from a standing position. My buddies' girlfriend, who is a rather skinny girl and probably doesn't weigh more than 110 pounds, with very little experience using firearms, was lighting up oranges at 50-100 meters, in rapid succession. -
mission makers, please, for the love of god!
Lauxman replied to Millenium7's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Agreed, Domi is so boring. Hey, lets smash each town in succession with artillery/air power, none of which the AI has a counter to, then wander around for 30 minutes looking for the last AI soldier to kill as mop up. There's no challenge and no fun. -

This is a huge issue with Zeus AI. Makes missions hard to enjoy while using it.
