I was very excited and supportive about the expansion, however after trying to play the campaign in COOP and not being able to get past manhattan because of lag/bugs/crashing I doubt I'll be getting this until I can play and finish ARMA2 campaign.
It's just frustrating the amount of bugs present in the game.

There are SO MANY bugs in the campaign COOP that its become unplayable.
Manhattan is totally lagging out, its basically unplayable. I have submitted some save files to see if they can find the problem.
Today I tried to play with two other friends, all on fast connections. We played mission "Harvest Red" and "Razor Two".....
Harvest Red never bugged or lagged for us in 1.02, but now we are getting lag, desync, crashing and logs of bugs like cannot heal and people who can only crawl. Then there is the bug where everyone is floating in the air!
Its just crazy... absolutely crazy! After like 5 attempts we finally managed to get a bug free and lag free game... we completed Harvest Red but it did not open up Razor Two for me the host so we could not continue.
Another friend had to host who had already gone into Razort Two in SP... very unplayable.

Exact same situation here. I can only hear things to the left and right of me and this is my setup. I don't know what to do.Yeh it sux but part of the problem is that Creative no longer support our cards, the drivers date back to 2004/2005.....
My Friend with a Audigy 2 ZS is getting ok sound... so I'm gonna buy a cheap Audigy 2 or 4 on ebay and try that.

I'm participating in the dev-heaven system and will be submitting some files to the dev's later this week to try and find the source of the problem.
COOP was also our main reason for buying the game, apart from it being a great game :)
Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestions.
We are both on cable LAN so thats not it.
Bulldogs, your COOP campaign runs without lags/desync?
I would also like to add that normal multiplayer runs without any lag.
-
Running a 100% vanilla game, we hate mods until we finish the Vanilla campaign.
I'll do a tracert tomorrow but it shouldnt be a lag problem as we play other games together without problem, our pings to each other are below 40ms.
Does anyone else get this problem?
After the last angry post we decided to let me host while my friend joins my game... hopefully fixing our issue. This did not work, my friend kept on desyncing and lagging....
I have a 1mbit upload connection and it never went past 24kb/sec... so plenty of room to move.

I'm sorry to say but after playing againt just now... the game is still bugged and I'm getting UNPLAYABLE lag in COOP campaign, with LAN or without....
Honestly I'm over this BETA f game.... cant even play something you pay for? Sick of waiting for patches...
I was patient and loved the game, but this is just too much.

Bumping mine to 10k gave me a nice picture slide show ;)
8800GTX maybe thats why! hehe

Security is good, not sure how it was years ago as I've only been using Hamachi for about 2 or 3 years.
Always practice safety measures and if you have a software firewall on the PC within your network you will be fine.
Also if you play with friends you shouldn't have to worry unless they are untrust worthy! ;)

Doakwolf, down clock your i7 to the same speed as your friends i7 and then run a test.
Also note that SLI/Crossfire technology requires the CPU to work harder.
ARMA2 is mostly CPU limited and if the CPU is struggling it will actually run slower on SLI/Crossfire machines. I would say your friend is getting a lower score because of the CPU being clocked lower and possibly maxed out.
I gave the above % based on results my friends system got when running with SLI and without. This was tested using the demo benchmark (which is not in the full version).
He actually got almost 60% improvement, he has a E8400 @ 4ghz and 2x 8800GT SLI, not a new system by any means but still pretty quick.

Thanks for that video link... I didnt see that video about OFP2 before.
After watching both part1 and 2, it does look nice and seems to run so smoothly.
But I can definitely say that its a lot easier and more "arcadey" than ARMA2 and original Flash Point. I could see him getting hit a few times without any sign of wounding or damage...
Still it should be fun!

Hamachi is basically a VPN over the net... LAN over net.
It creates a VPN for you and others, secured and encrypted.
Basically once you and your friends are on the same "channel" your computers are connected over the net as if they were in a Local Area Network (LAN).

Hi,
I've been playing the COOP campaign with a friend and we have mainly been doing most of our game play in the Razor Two mission since a number of bugs/crashes and script errors kept us restarting.
However its been a lot of fun :)
One particular bug we had was what seemd to be "lag" upon "resuming" or loading a previous save game. My friend is the host and I'm the client joining his COOP game.
When we die and he loads the last save, my game seems to "lag" behind by about 10 or more seconds... if he is driving a car down the road for example I will see him driving in circles and off the road, then the car will jump back on the road etc...
The only way to fix this is to click "Esc" > "Abort" > "disconnect" > "ok" and join the game back again. Once this is done the game is ok until the next resume.
Now today we finished the Razor Two mission and are now playing Manhattan... or trying to!
At the start of Manhattan this "lag" bug seems to be very strong, to the point where I cant see him moving... even the AI soldiers simply walk in 1 place... animation moving them but not changing postion.... then suddenly eveyrhting will move and then lag again....
This time the exit fix does not work.. making Manhattan unplayable.
As I have a dual screen setup, I can monitor many things on my system on the second monitor, including my network usage (up and down).
I noticed when this lag is occurring in Manhattan, my download speed is 40kb/sec... now this is actually the maximum my friends ADSL connection can upload.
After trying a number of things I suggested we try Hamachi to see if that fixes it... by playing using the "Lan" mode.
Indeed after joining his LAN game the Manhattan mission is working perfectly, I am downloading at about 30kb/sec and have no lag... its perfect.
So if your having problems in the COOP campaign, give Hamachi and LAN a try... it worked for us.
There must be some bug in the net code I guess? The game shouldn't require more than 30kb/sec upload as that would make it unusable on many Aussie connections as we get our uploads capped at either 25kb/sec, 40kb/sec or 100kb/sec.

Its a bug with the mod... not the game itself.
-
SLI/Crossfire is supported, get the latest drivers for your cards.
I dont think more than 2 GPU's scale very well however, a second card gives about 40% to 60% improvement, the game is mainly CPU limited.
Some situations will stress the CPU so much that your GPU's will be waiting for the CPU... and therefore they will be cool.

I registered for it this morning and it worked fine, got the email and activated my account.
I've already posted 4 bugs but I'm not entirely sure how to use it... it asks for a user to assign task too... how are we supposed to know who to do that for?????
So I just chose some random names ;)

Thanks for that, my friend after reading your post decided to do the mission in SP and indeed it completed and moved onto the next mission.
We dont want to use the spoiler/cheat to unlock all the missions because that would affect the end game?
You say some things later are affected by what we managed to complete in the mission, and if we use that command it would I guess invalidate our real result!

Thanks for that Bulldogs, going to test it now on XP... hope I can find the source of my non 5.1 sound.
Ok.... i used the little program and I can safely say that my rear speakers do not work in it either.
I have a Sound Blaster Live 5.1.... I also have all the latest DX files and system is fully updated.
Is there a fix for this? Why does ARMA2 use this system when every other game uses a system which does work!

Yes we have the same problem.
Simply find their game in the lobby and re-join, takes a few seconds and is annoying...
But what I find the MOST annoying is the desync in the coop campaign after the host resumes a saved game.
The game seems to desync for a few seconds until I click "Esc" > "Abort" > "Disconnect" > "Ok" and join the game back.. so I dont disconnect all the way out of the game, only out of the mission but stay connected to host.
This fixes it a bit.... a video showing what happens is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEW4UuIlJnE
This happens in version 1.03.... very very annoying.

Hello,
I hate looking at spoilers but after me and a friend have played this mission for over 10 hours we just had to look for help.
Ok... we have done this mission many times because of bugs and because it does not let us continue. We have successfuly capture the Borak guy and the mission says that we did well... and seems to be a successful ending.
However when the screen goes back to the lobby, we can only choose to play this mission again. We cannot continue onto the next mission :(
We have managed to find most of the evidance, the only evidance we did not know about before reading here was 1) quarry....
Does the mission require you to find ALL the evidance before catching Borak and finishing the mission?
How does the 20 minute scripted escape start? Is it timed or trigger?
We have now finished it about 4 or 5 times (both captured and killed him) and it does not let us choose the next mission to play.
I wonder if this had to do with the coop mode?
Anyone here played this in coop?
Thanks,

Hello,
I would also like to report that my 5.1 does not work.
I have a simple setup that works in every game, except ARMA2.
Sound Blaster Live 5.1, Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers.
Everything is configured correctly, and as I said... every other game works correctly in 5.1.
With ARMA2 I only get stereo and the stereo gets repeated on the rear speakers, quite annoying! My friend with a slightly better sound card, is also having this problem.

Lets be reasonable! At first people were angry that they weren't replying, now we are demanding they make special threads with all their answers!
It would be great but I think they are already doing a lot more than most dev's do!
Also, click on oharas (or your favorite devs) name, then click view profile or "find all posts" and you will very easily be able to see when they are posting!
Yapa

Big Dawg KS, I think maybe you will have to compile all of Oharas and other dev's answers and post it up as there will be countless questions getting asked over and over and over...
I can understand this to some extent as the thread is now 22 pages long and moving very rapidly... i've been following this thread for over 2 hours now since single digit pages but I know it can be hard to read through 22 pages of questions!
And this will be my last post for tonight (3.30am here!), very happy with this announcement and the community update about patch 1.04, good night!
EDIT: Just saw norailgunners question... I would too be interested to know if the expansion will feature any performance improvements, this is the only thing that annoys me :)
Yapa

I do believe the expansion should be cheaper than the full ARMA2 game, as its not a new engine/full release of the game (such as ARMA3 would be), but I dont mind paying a good 70% of the originals price for a new polished ARMA :)
This is similar to what Warhead was for Crysis, it was about an 8 hour game with new MP features and performance improvments, I enjoyed Warhead a lot and didnt mind paying the $30 on Steam....
Possible solution to COOP "lag" or desync

Yes this is a bug and seems there is no way for us to continue without having to cheat and advance the missions that way.... which we dont want to do!
Patch 1.04 seems to be mainly about fixing mouse lag and performance, as much as I welcome the performance improvements I would really like to be able to play the campaign in COOP.
