  1. Good performance increase for me. Win7/i7/6gig/gtx295.

    I haven't played for (since Bad Company2 was released) a while :)

I ran my usual test mission Counter Attack and was getting no texture swapping like usual, could spin around and no texture lag.

Got an error loading the mission- No entry "bin\config.bin/CFGmarkers.faction_CDF" and there was no markers on map screen at intro.

Loaded the benchmarks and got missing ground textures. :(

  2. I agree that most of the voice actors are pretty bad (Corpse-man!), but that's only 25% of the problem. You can tell that the unfortunate voice actors are just reading verbatim the scripts BI have given them--which were written by Czech game designers. Game designers are not typically the best communicators even in their own native language, and these are game designers trying to write dialogue in a foreign language. So the best voice actor in the world would still sound ridiculous speaking some of Arma's dialogue. They really need to use native American English speakers--who are also decent writers--to write the dialogue. The BI crew may be very smart guys, and they all may speak three or more languages--but it's just not the same as being a native English speaker.

I used to teach English as a second language to international college students. I can tell you that it's nearly impossible for anyone not born and raised among English speakers to ever write believable English dialogue. Formal written English is hard enough to learn, but real conversational American English is nearly impossible, because it's just so sloppy and usually dripping with sarcasm and subtle idioms.

I'm sure BI could find many competent volunteers in the community who would be happy to act as script doctors. Hell, I would do it for free just so that I wouldn't have to hear the broken English in the next game.

Please stop calling it "American English", its ENGLISH. Dropping the letter U out of some words doesn't mean you've developed another language. If by American English you mean saying the word "LIKE" 20 times in every sentence then i suppose you have (un)developed your own language.

Please fix the voices BIS. "Go Im covering" totally kills the immersion.

  3. I just tested the 1.02 patch and the Ambush mission, believe it or not but i got killed! lol

Anyway my temps got upto 92C on GPU and then i quit because the game fucking sux. Thats not uncommon for my system though. I live in the tropics, its already 30C at 9am and see those temps often, but i know it didnt get that high pre-patch.

  4. I reinstalled DR the other day to test out the new update, havent had it installed since October. I didnt bother loading the vanilla missions, straight into Templars White fang. The action started straight away, got killed pretty quick, AI improvement is noticeable.

But the game fucking sucks, i was feeling sick instantly from the FOV, the weapon takes up half the screen and is bouncing around too much leaving only a small amount for actually viewing. The graphics are just a blur of low res textures, enemy and friendly units all look the same, lucky i get a big blue X on a friendly so i dont shoot him.

I didnt like the game when it came out, all this time hasnt made my heart grow fonder. Their updates havent done a thing.

  5. I havent used this CAA1 yet, but just a quick question. Would I be able to run the LOBO historic Armour pack through this?.

I'd like to play around with the syrian tanks and the centurion ect. in combination with P85 vehicles in ARMA 2. Want to find out if it'll work first before I download 2.2 gigs of data.

Can you give me a link for this LOBO pack and ill test for you.
