WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to max power's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The Pedagne mod has one, and there might be several other versions in another upcoming mod... (I only recently found out they had a version that could launch a Pershing with a 100kt nuke.) :D -
Those are things I would (maybe not kill) maim for.

Where can I find the UFO mod for Arma2?
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to Funkman's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
There might be one in the works, the closest thing you can get now would be with Icebreakr's Isla Duala, or Lingor. (Duala has stereotypical aliens IIRC, and Lingor has Predators, with their own ship.) :D -
Where can I find the UFO mod for Arma2?
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to Funkman's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You can't. I've never seen that before, it looks pretty good, but I think it must have been canceled or for a private group only. (I wish I could come up with another conclusion, but AFAIK it's never been posted here or on any of the fan sites, and the video is over a year old.) -
arrowhead buildings in visitor?
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to quincy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : TERRAIN - (Visitor)
There are plenty of AI friendly maps out there. Ignore quincy, every time anybody says something that he finds the least bit offensive he tries to change the subject by saying how awesome his map will be. He supposedly started this project over a year ago, and has evaded requests for a single screenshot, or anything more than a vague description. -
ArmA X = C&C: The First Decade, except that everything your buying is top quality & worth paying for with X, compared to a quarter of what your buying with TFD. :D

When will BIS decide to add shooting in vehicle feature in the game?
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to msy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Roughly the same as attachTo, possibly worse FPS though. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=59404 -
Stumped, Hidden Selections on The M1A1
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to JakeWed's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : ADDONS - Configs & Scripting
Right off the bat I see one thing. You have 3 spaces that you don't need. I'm not sure if that would screw it up, but.. You have {"Texture1", "Texture2", "Texture3", "Texture4"}; and it needs to be {"Texture1","Texture2","Texture3","Texture4"}; -
Egyptian Army (retexture mod)
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to Brainbug's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
No, that's the original (and only) Operation Flashpoint, from many years ago. I bet Miles has a few ideas up his sleeve for ArmA 2 though... -
It is dead, Joseph Mallozzi is just telling the fans what it would have been like, if the bosses at SyFy hadn't been a bunch of twats.

Nope. There were female Russian pilots in combat in WW1, long before Sabiha Gokcen became an aviator.

Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
LibMod = Iron Front, basically. -
CO = A2 + OA, meaning you have to have both of them. If you want to use this addon, buy OA.

Add me to that list, just replace my use of "Steam" with "Steamworks". I hadn't slept in two days & realized all the points I had made were about Steamworks, not steam. I don't have a problem with Steam other than it being buggy, but Steamworks? KISS :D

I thought this was one of Walker's posts initially. Now that would have been a good read. :D

FPDR Thread title man. :D -
Thats no reason for steam to be forced upon the people who have no desire to use it.

People living in middle Tennessee as one example, Aussies, Kiwis, i'd assume Tasmanians :p generally people from every country except Sweden. ;) I actually have 2 options for internet out here in the TN boonies. #1 - HughesNet satellite internet, where you pay an outrageous amount for less than 500mb a month IIRC #2 - Tethering my Verizon cellphone to my PC and using it's 3G internet. I got lucky and found a legal Android app that allows me to use my phones unlimited data plan, instead of paying $50 a month for 2GB with Verizon's tethering plan. I can play ArmA, BF2, etc. and get fairly decent ping considering I'm running my internet off a cellphone i have to place on a window sill (to ensure it gets a good signal) but it downloads slow, and updating OA has taken 4 days using it with Steam in the past. *Edit* Yes, it only requires you to be online while you install, but then as soon as it finishes the installation it automatically starts patching it, and you can't stop it.
-
Are you an idiot? How did you come up with that conclusion? How are any of my points null/invalid/etc.? If you make it so a game requires Steam, then you have to get a steam account and be ONLINE WHEN YOU INSTALL IT. Not only that, but when you first install it it patches the game whether you want it to or not, and you HAVE NO CHOICE in the matter. Then there's the bandwidth issue. That alone would prevent a large portion of the world, including alot of Australia, New Zealand, even parts of the U.S. (Alot of people have bandwidth caps or very slow speeds, even with the new tech) from playing the game they just bought at a store. So please, pull your head out of your hindquarters. :j:

I am reminded of this. Z0GFRcFm-aY lol

I don't have a problem with Steam, but I do have a problem with making a game Steam only. I was pissed when I found out the disk copy of Empire: Total War that I bought at Walmart required steam+internet to install. If BIS went in that direction, as big a fan as I am of them, and of the series, I wouldn't touch the damn thing. Don't package anything steam related with the game, but make it fully compatible with it, and have a steam version.
-
I would pay $20 to see Sahrani brought to ArmA 3. I may be alone in this, but I doubt it. Even better, include it in the base ArmA 3, and maybe make a separate editor category for it, if that's even possible?
-
I despise steam. The only reason I use it is because I won a steam copy of OA. After all the issues I've had with it so far I'm considering giving up on it and buying a disk when I have the cash. Why I think Steam should be optional, if used at all. Constant issues with the offline mode, which is a very big thing for me as I have limited internet access. If I tell it not to autoupdate, it does anyways. Even if I tell it not to 30 damn times. I wasn't able to play OA for 3-4 months because it started the update as I was in the middle of a move. Over half of the gameplay in the series is OFFLINE gameplay, whether a campaign, user missions, or in the editor. Steam requires an internet connection to start the game (Unless in offline mode, but you have to have internet to start offline mode) so people that don't have access etc. would not be able to use the game they just bought If steam is integrated it would mean having to use steam to patch the game, which basically means redownloading the entire game every time a patch is released. I don't have the time nor the bandwidth to do that.
