    Arma3 Alpha Testing Checklist

One thing that's been ignored in the UI is the mouse sensitivity. The sliders without numbers are useless especially when Y sensitivity is 0.5x of the X sensitivity so there's no way to adjust them 1:1, if you want to properly set your mouse you have to do it manually from the config files, so having numerical settings would make it FAR more convenient.
  2. Even the lowest end cards nowadays have over 512MB of memory...
  3. http://www.bistudio.com/english/company/developers-blog/85-breaking-the-32-bit-barrier "The Future - 64 bits In the long term, the solution to this will be to move to a 64 bit operating system and to compile the game as a 64 bit application." I guess 6 years isn't enough to be considered long term.
  4. Now that's BS, with 64-bit executable the game would be 100% free from stutterings, even though the CPU improvements would be almost neglible.
  5. Sounds like the detection is bugged and it thinks there's more than 1GB memory. My card stops at 1825mb, it doesn't go to the full 2gb.
  6. Any mentions about a 64-bit executable? ArmA III would benefit hugely if it could load the whole game into the memory instead of just 2GB buffer streaming constantly from slow HDD's. And no need for RAM disks?

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

Yeah.. these people have even less reason to boycott than these guys had:
  8. Magically the GPU usage just goes down from 100% to like 30% as the server fills up. And FPS goes unplayable sub-20fps in heavy towns.

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

Why would someone be against Steam? I'd understand if it was Origin or the year 2003, but nowadays theres no real reason to be against steam, it's a proven platform.
  10. Play some Wasteland on a 70 player server, get in a town like rasman. No more than 30-40% of the whole CPU is utilized with the main core at 100%, and FPS is 20. Benchtests are useless, singleplayer performance is much much better.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

Titan can survive with whatever price since AMD is not bringing any new GPU's in 2013.
  12. ArmA II engine isn't even able to use half of the power of my 6 core CPU which translates to 30% GPU usage. Resulting in 20FPS in towns on big wasteland servers, absolutely laughable optimization. It's just 1 core being 100% utilized, then the rest 5 cores are sitting almost idle.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

And sadly those custom missions (like Wasteland) are made by people with highest end hardware who think it's good enough when their OC'd 2500K doesn't drop below 35, but that leaves anyone with worse CPU's with totally unplayable sub-20 FPS diashows.
  14. I get the same in wasteland takistan. I think it's the game reading new stuff from HDD constantly.

    I'm not a pilot

What sucks is leading troops yourself. OFP:CWC campaign was most enjoyable when you weren't leading.
  16. Is there any word about ArmA III multithreading? Is it going to be fake multithreading with 1 core used and rest running at 5% like in ArmA II or are they finally fixing it?
  17. It's because the game is not optimized at all for this kind of 40+ player missions with lots of objects/vehicles/loot, so unless you have a super powerful CPU 2500K or better you're out of luck.

    Fps lag on good pc

yeah, ArmA hates AMD cpus. My 1090T is at 3,9GHz/2800MHz NB and I get down to 20-25fps in wasteland takistan (only right after server restart it's smooth +60FPS)

    Fps lag on good pc

It's ALL about the processor and HDD in multiplayer where lots of objects are created around the map. If you have a 2500K, it won't matter if you have a HD 4870 or 7970, it runs the same.

    A2/A2F/A2OA Tweak Guide

Is this guide accurate with video memory very high using 2GB? Other guides say 512MB.

Pagefile tweak = much improved FPS

What about just disabling the damn thing?

    J.S.R.S. 1.5

Anyone else getting choppiness with JSRS and those CBA's enabled? With vanilla sounds playing wasteland is pretty smooth with the occasional loading pauses at 5-10fps, but with JSRS near towns it's basically pausing all the time as you move/turn around.

ARMA 3 - still unrealistic optics

The blurring solution is the best no doubt, as it actually looks like the scope only would be zoomed.

ARMA 3 - still unrealistic optics

I already suggested this and yes its much better than black texture. It actually looks like the scope only would be zoomed with the way the image moves inside the scope, excellent solution: http://www.moddb.com/mods/alpha-project2/videos/3d-scope-shaders#imagebox
