  1. Good job Cappa, thanks.

    And thanks to whoever asked the question about suppressive fire too :yay:

    1) From the Q/A, I wouldn't want to reside in Germany :D

    2)

    Anything smaller than the dam and the harbour can be blown up!

    Muahaha

    Using the mission editing tools you can play as a rabbit or dog - if you really want

    Yes you can play AS animals by placing them in player-made missions. Boar hunting (your mate as the boar) is a lot of fun...

    Nice. This kind of little things are a good addition, it shows the diversity, credibility and richness of the Arma2's world. Dragon Rising's world (for example) will look sterile in comparison.

    Tank combat has been overhauled, we're sure you'll see a vast improvement.

    Interesting, I hope we will get some details soon.

    I am very excited for Arma2, the wait will be hard. It has a big potential imho.

  2. I don’t know what you are trying to prove with this.

    As everybody else have said the first and the last picture is renders and the middle one is ingame.

    However the middle one may look great in that small size but if you see it in full size it's nothing special.

    The grass is horrible, the textures is also horrible but the "grain noise" is helping it look better on the vehicles in that screen, the 30km view distance is still nowhere to be found in any of the new screenshots, the lighting is not realistic.

    I don't think console games can display 30 km view distance. Maybe the PC version will be able to do it, but I think OFP Dragon Rising is first designed with console in mind.

    Frankly, I too don't like the "mood", the graphic identity much : grain noise, yellow+black or gray+black ambiant. I wish they would put a more realistic lighting and less effects.

  3. imho, game developers should always clearly state the date of the build they send to previewers, thus people would have a better picture of the situation. According to the journalist and according to the screenshots we know it is a WIP, but if the build's date (february 2009) was added to the screenshots, it would stop the speculations. Such a preview (and the criticisms that go with it), with the release date closer and closer, can only create anxiety among the fan base. Now we must hope for the better for the final reviews. :cool:

    After watching the preview videos from gamekult, I can understand the frustration from some journalists with the razor team. Each member (including the player) seems to follow his own way after the mission's start.

    In the second video "IA dream and sheep prodigy", the sheep opens the gate himself !:eek::D

  4. This teaser is of excellent quality and the music is electric.:dancehead:

    It is going to create a lot of positive hype for Arma2 on the web even for people who don't know what TrackIR is. :D

    Concerning the running animation, I think it is the same as before :

    edit : actually you could be right Crazyfox, it seems the arms movement is faster in the teaser.

  5. Interesting link :

    http://www.jeuxvideo.com/reportages-videos-jeux/0000/00000186/arma-2-presentation-du-jeu.htm

    (sorry if this has already been posted)

    you can use google translator for the translation.

    * 3 years of work for the storyline ! Considering this fact and the latest screenshots, it seems the story will be riveting.

    *The sudden death aspect of the OFP/Arma serie will be tamed down a little. When you are heavily wounded, your teammates will be able to give you first aid (if they are close enough). The teamplay will be reinforced and the lonewolf type of players will be less successful.

  6. New French preview added on the arma2.com list:

    http://www.jeuxvideo.com/articles/0001/00010733-arma-2-preview.htm

    Plenty of new screens in there, although maybe some spoilers.

    Thanks for the links, some of the screenshots are new I think :yay:

    Arma2's story will be darker it seems...

    I gotta say, the story line looks very engaging. Anyone else notice those 'mass graves'? Brings out the self-righteous killah in me!

    Indeed

  7. Can't understand al lot of that discussion about realism......when I play a game I want to have FUN in the first line! Wheter a soldier looks exactely the same as in realitiy or has the "correct" gear is secondary 2 me.

    Realism is not necessarily about "look" but more importantly how things work in real life :). Vilas' last post in this thread is a good illustration.

  8. Seriously, boomar., did you even play OFP?

    He has admitted in Dragon Rising forums he has never played Arma. He has probably never played OFP either. This makes his attitude and his constant bashing of BIS and Arma2 here and on the other forums even more ridiculous.

    I am looking forward to both games (Arma2 & OFP DR).

  9. New preview (in spanish). I don't have time to translate it now, but might give it a try this weekend (anyone else offers as a volunteer?).

    http://www.meristation.com/v3/des_avances.php?pic=PC&id=cw49ef6baacf681&idj=cw46cc10e6b4725&idp=&tipo=art&c=1&pos=0

    Thanks for the link ! I hope somebody will do a translation because my spanish is very very rusty (much worse than my english :p).

    I translated the part which interested me the most, the part about artificial intelligence (page 3).

    The journalist seems to have mixed feelings about the AI in Arma2.

    The good :

    -the AI has been improved greatly especially the teammates:the friendlies uses terrain as cover, they behave correctly during firefights, they heal each others, they share ammunitions, they are now useful;

    The not so good :

    -AI teammates run everywhere chaotically putting their lives, and yours, at risk (the mission will be considered a failure if a razor team member dies but we already know this);

    -sometimes, the mission doesn't end because an enemy (using micro AI) is hidden in the area;

    -the journalist doesn't think it will be fixed as Arma2 will be released in 2 months;

    -the enemies AI are still limited and die one after the other during mid-distance firefights,

    -the rest of the critics has been translated by Jorge above ^^

    ----

    I was so slow writing this message that a translation has already been posted (thanks Jorge) but considering the time I spent writing this, I decided to post it anyway :p

  10. I must admit that I'm extremelly disapointed with BIS because they kept that same "stupid" arcadish "vertical situation" radar for the vehicles (tanks, helicopters, aircraft, etc...) instead of a more realistic looking radars or FLIRs (depending on the vehicles)! So I guess that we will also have the same "TAB" key (for locking targets) as we currently have in ArmA! :(

    I just hope that BIS still backs out from this arcadish radar concept, but I guess that will only happen in my dreams... Let's see how OFP2 will handle this targetting feature...

    I agree with you, I would like vehicles to be less arcade and more interesting and more challenging.

    But in defense of this arcadish radar I would say that, in real life, vehicle commanders/pilots can rely on their crewmen, other vehicles, UAV assets, datalink & screens, to help them build a mental image of the situation.

    So, maybe, if this radar was much less accurate and would only indicate the approximate azimuth of the enemies (those which have been spotted) instead of giving the exact position of enemy and friendly units and if the tab-lock key was disabled, it would make the vehicle experience more interesting and challenging... (good idea for a mod maybe :p)

    -edit : well tab-lock key may still be necessary if the vehicle is played from commander's seat.

  11. I am eagerly awaiting for Arma II but the building destruction test video was a let down. The building is "swallowed" by the ground after getting hit by 25 mm fire.

    and the

    from the preview video at 0:48 and 1:31 and 3:44, is really annoying and it seems this phrase comes back often :(

    edit : thanks ohara for the news when I started typing my message, your message was not displayed.
