The artillery looks like crap judging by the most recent video. Sorry, but it looks like a CoD or BF 2 copy/paste job, and looks like it's meant to please the Hollywood crowd.Yeah I'd have to agree with that statement... looks pretty lame to be honest. The BIS artillery isn't that fantastic either (at least in Arma1) but say that OFP: DR artillery looks good is....

One area where crysis > arma 2 is water. Having just finsihed the game and it's expansion today, all the visuals are fresh in my mind.
On top of water, you have the explosion effects and of course character detail, which are MUCH better that what I have seen so far.
There are however, a significant amount of things that look better in arma II.

Here guys:
I made some epic update rushes on a bunch of forums i frequent:
Overclockers club:
http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=162033&st=0&gopid=1676547entry1676547
Overclockers Australia:

insurgency forums:

and one on bitgamer as well.
If you want the template from these posts for other forums just send me a pm and I'll send you some text documents with all the work done already :)
If anyone here is a member of ausgamers, IGN etc i highly recommend you make the same posts on there. I also have a post I made that you can use to create a topic about arma II if one doesn't exist. I made that particular post on bitgamer but I doubt many people here have access to the site to be able to see it. If tou want that particular post, again, just send me a pm.

Arma1 too has great graphics, it's all about the settings. You can almost get Arma2 quality with everything maxed.I play it on max settings and I definitely disagree with you

In before lock.

How do you know there will be previews of the new build this week?Good point...
Please, do tell :386:

In before lock.
EDIT: but seriously, I would expect actual reviews (i.e. no "BubiGames" reviews) to be out when the german version is released... may 29th or something from memory.

Ptolemaios:
Dude it's pretty obvious that you are "DremDC".
1) No one posts as much crap and trolls as much about ArmaII than you and "DremDC" in the youtube comments.
2) I have never ever seen anyone say "+1 Agreed" (capitalisation is the same as well) apart from you and "DremDC" in the youtube comments.
[/offtopic]
I think with OFP: DR focusing on the infantry aspect rather than the overall combat (e.g. lack of air, civilians etc) it will obviously be better in some aspects than ArmaII. There isn't really much more to debate about until both games are ready to buy on the shelf, seeing as there is ample time to fix/tweek/change/create stuff between now and release.
People should stop getting so emotional about a bunch of games and critique each game objectively rather than throwing in some bias spin.
-
+1 AgreedSo you're DremDC who was posting crap and trolling on those Dome PC youtube vids!!
It all makes sense!

I'd be more interested in being able to open doors etc for cover, than having the actual entering animation. As mentioned it doesn't really affect gameplay, so as long as they fix animations that actually serves a purpose (jumping over fences etc which we've already seen), I'm not complaining at all.I agree here. Much better to use doors for cover (Even though you can still get hit in the legs).
-
I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, if so please point me in the right direction. One thing i find irritating is that i have not seen and good vehicle animations. You walk up to a vehicle and when u want to get in it you just magically appear inside.
Is it difficult to animate a person opening a door and climbing in?
For like 50 different vehicles, yes, I think it would be hard to animate.

With a machine like the one Tiscali posted, ArmA II should run quite well. I think that they deliberately turned down the settings in order to make it look bad. That PC should be able to handle more than they had it at. Very unprofessional. But if that's not the case then I am concerned. I've got a GTX 280 and an E8400 @ 3GHz and if ArmA II doesn't run well on that I will be very sad.
Why do people even listen to tisacli anymore

Take your time sir......we have a new patch to keep us busy for quite awhile :)We do??
How will the cattle lights effect NVG?
in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL

yeah......I'd have to agree with the term "cattle lights", No idea why they were made reflective??
