  1. So i learn how to make my own dialog.. took forever with the lacktarded documentation which is mostly non-existant.. Now i have a dialog.. but i cant use it.. WHY!?!?!? ...I dunno how to bind it How to bind a key or something to Newly Created Dialog menu? Where/what script to put it in?

    i notice a bug in groups where my 2 is my 3 and my 3 is my 2... hard to tell until you realize you are ordering 2 medic symbol to heal 3 and after 30 minutes of ordering still no results you realise 3 is the medic.. HUH?? exactly.. then you order 3 to heal 2 but that dont work either.. cuz like everything else.. ITS BUGGED

    New, intence maps/missions

    too many bugs at this time.. if you kill an enemy he reporting you to all, so you will die thus no firefight...hopefully the fix of that bug will bring back some fun, its such a HORRID bug it should have been a priority hot fix... of course maybe they dont know how to fix it.. who knows.. todays day n age i give up on mankind

    moving turret turns on engine.

    I believe its an intended feature for sake of AI seek & destroy, etc. In Arma 1, it got very exploited where people would hop in static attack choppers and blackhawks etc or even LAV's and tanks in the gunner positions, (most cases in EVO) where if you are not in driver seat, the enemy AI wouldnt bother because they think vehicle is empty... So you couldnt even create a enemy AI attack to search and destroy a tank, because if a player was not in the driver seat, the AI would not attack it.. So what happened for attacks is that everyone sat in base in the gunner on the choppers mowing down attacking AI, that wouldnt shoot back.. Not very fun, but if its easier a human will take that route 99/100 times. By forcing the engine on this prevents this exploit.. also makes it possible for ai to be dumped into that position and hopefully you can have enemy AI attack and actually destroy a tank that might be a strategic asset not being guarded well...

  9. Ygh, with no documentation there never WILL be a community.... just a bunch of wanna be's.. The modding community and scripting communities are far apart. The scripting community is NON EXISTANT and with no docs never will be, as you can tell its 10 years later and still no fucking clue how to do anything You see, all the cool shit being released by some people, specially go out to say.. this script is not meant to be supported.. "in other words.. ha ha we are doing this for our in house team to get a job in the future and fuck anyone else who cares to learn" Do nto ask a question, we wont answer it... The very basics of scripting have ZERO examples, and ZERO documentaton... The dialog example... hi, here is a example dialog... but hell if there is an example of how to wire it. The perons trying to learn is stuck already with no where to turn. Which is why you NEVER will see a new type of game... if it aint provided.. its all you will ever get, because us who CAN make shit will never care to learn, because we have tried and failed miserably due to being absolutely fucking clueless. I spend 6 hours to learn how to do one stupid fucking thing that should take 30 minutes, and other things that ending up taking 16 hours to 5 days that should be done in 5 minutes, only learned by hacking apart 79 old scripts, which are probably done incorrectly since they were just learning when they did it... Thats a great recipe.. and its why evolution in its third generation is a big pile of compiled crap with more bugs than a fresh cow patty on a hot summer day. Now we have to times the learning curve of trying to make a script by 150,000 hours because of everything you try has no docs whatsoever, and i can tell i will have to spend 2 years to make a 2 hour mission.. NO THANKYOU.. I am way too experience to waste my time here.. I quit and leave the hell to you.. have fun with it
  10. ok, im done then, no editing for me.. 3rd generation of game, and the simplist of docs aint around other than click open mission edit and place unit.. there ya go enjoy pfft.. your stuck with hold/warefare/evolutionf forever, and since all of them are curretnly coded like complete shit, good luck..

After alot of people whining about AI shooting thru tree's, buildings, and even terrain... and experiencing a couple hundred hours of play under EVO myself, i have to concur it is indeed going on.. I may have had a breakthrough on this though... First of all those complaining about shooting through tree's, I don't totally agree.. it may happen from time to time, but for most part, it's lack of discipline on you as a soldier trying to play the game as a FPS. Or not recognizing who exactly shot you and where it was when he pulled the trigger. I am not going to tell you how to be more effective in combat, thats for you to learn.. However I will give you the best tip, that will make the game more enjoyable, although mentally you may think its boring... SLOW DOWN, move slower, get off that stupid run button.. Nuff said. You are a soldier fighting an army, not another player, they are communicating and can track movement just as you can with your teamates. Now for the rest of the complaintants.. After hundreds of hours of playing EVO, typically in the morning as I am the server admin getting the server rolling.. I get to fight rambo style (solo me vs army). What I have discoverd is very interesting and can now be looked in most closer... When people complan about being shot thru buildings, they are usually talking about tanks, which is true as I have seen them pound many bullets thru buildings as I reload my launchers in there when possible. They also seem to be able to straff with me as i move inside, knowing pinpoint location Anyhow, lets skip to the chase, I think the real problem is with AI CREW members ... I have yet to see a Sniper, Machine Gunner, Rifleman, Squad Leader, etc etc, shoot me from a goofy position.. However, now 10 times just this morning.. I am getting canned by super shooting crew members and their SUPER SNIPING PISTOLS.. I have repeatably seem them one shot me from 250m with one pistol bullet while prone and behind hilly terrain, I have consistantly being killed by crew members only and having not much problem with the other players when I am playing in my "patient" mode.. I can have 25 AI in front of me, one crew member behind me.. I go for the crew member and he wins and usually i never even see him visually. I go for the others, i normally do some heavy damage. These crew members are also the same ones that get out of a tank and one pop you a second after you pull the trigger and hit the tank... Anyhow, its no surpise to me now, that 2 and 2 come together, tanks shooting thru walls, and insane vision/tracking.. crew members one shotting with pistols, always non visable.. 2+2=4.. I bet they are bugged or something along those lines and maybe should be looked at more closely by the dev team As for players, If you get a chance, try to dwelve into this deeper and take a look to see if crew members are the ones ruining your day.   12. I revisit this thread, and give some more thought.. As we see in the 1.3 patch notes, that dead soldiers are reporting where you are.. (edit: please note 1.3 is not out at this time 7/18/09, only some info on sme things that will be addressed) I am guessing that tanks are more prevy to this information for whatever reason game engine needs thems to be.. and this same info is passed to AI crew members, might be why they are so deadly.. and of course if dead AI is continually feeding them info, it may simply be this reason they are so effective and deadly.. and not totally testable, unless now you have the new hint.. dead people :) make missions with dead AI, or shoot them and see now if your crew member test missions act like supermen

    as a server admin I can pass along this info Alot of people are getting kicked after de-installing mods but have bad shortcuts... so far, even after they tell me 25 times, their shortcut is fine.. it has turned out to be their shortcut... try making new shortcuts and see if you still get kicked...

    Correct me if I am wrong, but it don't appear is if they included the zombies in arma 2... so that forces a MOD to be able to use them in MP servers Zombies are dead, to which what appears to be rockers and hookers :/

    don't use wav files, they are huge and prolly lag the server.. only use a few seconds and convert to ogg 44100hz 8 bit MONO CBR 32kilobytes
  16. Final Assumption, OK, have to go to work so I am done debugging for the day.. My final assumption is that Crewman have supersonic spotting or hearing or whatever, they track you with no problem knowing where you are at ALL times, in buildings or not in buildings.. i sneak around and see all infantry standing around, guarding an area or patrolling, but those PESKY crewman always know where i am, always get the first shot on me... and usually always prone...
  17. Hrmph, here it more very interesting news... I was playing still this same game.. and this one particular unit had me pinned down for an hour.. I couldnt find him although i had a red dot in general area, i scouted him for nearly 60 minutes with three deaths.. even 203 spamming and couldnt make him move or anything... So i gave up and continued clearing the rest of area... I came back from a different direction, just basically running out there to get killed to see where this guy was.. Couldnt find him.. i did find an officer in that area, which is 20 points to capture him in Evolution. so i captured him... immediately after capturing him.. i turn around to see an enemy right smack there in the middle of the road i suspected him to be... he one shotted me instantly.. and guess what... HE WAS A CREWMAN AND BLEEDING FROM THE HEAD... :/ It's as if he was invisible but for some reason he popped onto screen when i captured officer... very bizzarre.. At this point i would like to add the other bug i notice that is bizarre.. and thats been wavy terrain... since the new nvidia drivers came out, my terrain sometimes rolls like a tidal wave as i move forward, and i notice if i go into a crevace and prepare a m136, smaw shot, i come up the crevae and shoot... now the enemy fire comes in, i crawl back into the crevace.. but to no avail, its as if the crevace was filled in and they keep firing until im dead, cuz i can't get under the terrain i used.. very bizzare, maybe its combination of stupid stuff causing it all?? To sum up what i am saying, maybe i couldnt see him because the crewman got "under" the terrain... hence why i see them prone killing with ease.. if you are under terrain, i guess no terrain can block anything.. thus ez kills for the crewman.... update: dam crewman killed me agian (rifle) lol... while prone of course.. tracking me walking along walls
  18. I guess also note, I am playing evolution where the army is of many many types and numbers and highly communicating I reckon... So maybe try again with 50 others on the battlefied and put a crew somewhere off to the side you can hunt
  19. Hey Soldier, If there's tree's in front of you and you think there is enemy there.. Why are you staying exposed? Im bugging out to a better spot.. :P~~ Let's try to stay on topic and squash this.... I am taking a wild guess, not understandng the code and all, but perhaps the AI Tanks need some supersonic vision or something to be effective in game... and the crew member stays in this mode when exiting tank... the crew member somehow keeps incredible vision and even aim statistics that the tank had? Is this a plausable idea on how it works? All I can do is just sit back and fire guesses. Maybe you have some guesses of your own?

    Can't hold breath?

    Slow down, by default the hold breath is the same as the zoom button (right mouse) If you move you get winded, if you run you get super winded, you can note this by how heavy you are breathing.. remember you are lugging around alot of equipment, reducing this can help, but slowing down is the ultimate weapon.. Of course, and probably most obvious, crouching and prone position helps accuracy. oh and if your shot in the arm.. lol not good, find a corpspan or a MASH Regards, Cackle
  21. Arma Chicago Servers will be closing at end of August, due to lack of interest and tool support.. Can't edit a game with no tools, something promised long ago by BOH and yet not delivered, probably because a) waiting for release of expansion and/or b) just being lied too (took em 2 months just to get registered on this board so i could post lol) Whatever the case, the game has lost interest quickly with no new islands and I Â am not interested in dumping another grand for 3 months of server time hoping the tools will be available..     Yeah, it's a pity really... If they release the tools 10 seconds after this post, it would'nt matter, I have not had any interest in booting up lately and fully know I have lost all interest of mission making / island building... The international version thought they would bring success to the community, it just saturated a poorly built community and broke apart all the good public servers by offering more choice with crappy online interface. We use to have 50 people on 24/7 now its like 2-10 a day on 3 servers. All regulars also must be bored as they are not even seen anymore.. Game has nothing there to keep myself motivated anymore. And I am a guy who will crawl across the brush for 2 hours to get my kill and move out heheh. I won't be sharing in the experience of the expansion.. for many reasons, from development, to even one that includes this game just destroys my eyes due to its bland graphics or something and just constantly squinting to find enemies the size of a pixel, as any closer they will kill me. Everything is controlled by publisher, developer can't even talk... I have to give up, I now stop buying games by Sierra/Atari etc who can't give a rats ass about anything but a bottom line and have no money in the first place for development... Unfortuantely developers are at their mercy so they bow to their BS ethics and standards... I'm old enough now where my decisions are based on ethics. Unfortunately, there always a new batch of kids there to keep buying their crap and letting em get away with this busienss model. CAN YOU TELL I AM BITTER.. As a hardcore gamer, I have to pass harsh judgement and as well forfill my needs. And after bombing the shit out of that island and knowing every inch, and enjoyed all the camping spots... Enough is enough and it's time to move on to bigger and better things.. GET RID OF PUBLISHERS THEY DO NOTHING FOR THE INDUSTRY THEY SIMPLY CONTACT 2 FRIGGAN WHOLESALERS IN THE USA TO DUMP OFF THE BOXES AND MAKE A CHEESEY WEBSITE THEY NEVER EVER UPDATE OR CARE ABOUT ACT LIKE THEY ARE SOME SORT OF MARKETING GENIUSES. THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN SUGAR DADDIES KNOWN TO PROSTITUTE DEVELOPERS. DEVELOPERS NEED TO TAKE OUT A FRIGGAN LOAN AND MAKE A GAME RIGHT FOR A CHANGE. HIRE 2-3 GUYS TO HANDLE THIS LOAD AND REAP 100% OF THE PROFITS.. CHANGE THE FORMAT OF GAMES. NO MORE 1 MONTH SHELF LIFE WONDERS. MAKE A TITLE AND STAND BY IT. CREATE A GAME, PATCH A GAME CONTINUE ADDING TO A GAME AND CHARGE FOR VERSION UPGRADES AND CONTENT PACKS LIKE THEY DO OPERATING SYSTEMS AND OFFICE SUITES. UNTIL THIS IS CHANGED, GAMES WILL REMAIN WORTHLESS. Take a look at World In Conflict, the next big Sierra Dud.. Sure it will sell, all the icing on the cake is there to fool you. The developers did a great job with the interface... the key to any game's success starts there.. then as you check it out in entirety, you can tell it's rushed to high heaven, as there is nothing there, its like a game you will be sick of in 3 days... Too late, you already paid... After the game hits the shelf, the phone will ring and all production will cease as Sierra will say, funding is cut. But you have 2 forfill your 2 patches and have a nice life.. Thanks for the million. What a joke

    3 great servers with 24/7 uptime customer support and 100 player teamspeak 12ms ping to me.... Arma Chicago is not interested in oversold networks with crappy servers hosting way more than 1 game per server and bad support thanks though Price dont bother me, Arma does
