  1. Lol.. despite Jman, I am not an IT person at all. It is my hobby. If you wanna talk finance-planning-ERP-6Sigma though I'm your guy :) .. hell it took me a 2 hrs to write & test that 2 line batch file :D .
  2. And sort that VM requirement for mirrors will ya :D ...
  3. Well said Sickboy It is OK to use out KH AddonSync solution for now, BUT everyone WILL need to start using the Rsync updater at some point. We'll try to keep the KH YAS Mirror alternative as updated as possible but updating the YAS Repository needs a manual process. Thus KH YAS repository is not real-time and will be updated after a certain time and you should be aware of the limitations. If you want to update your ACE as soon as the dev team releases updates, you need to use the official Rsync Tool. Updater is easy to use once setup properly. Now that you have the ACE running, go install RSync and start fiddling with it. Read the documentation and play with it. Read the posts of Sickboy here. We've been sharing the whole modfolders thru Yoma. This means its is twice the size of the release (1gb vs 520Mb) but it will make it possible for you to switch to Rsync when you have more patience to set it up properly. We'll eventually remove the zipped Rsync folders in the modfolders to reduce the DL size for YAS Updaters, for those who want to stick to Yoma only for whatever reason. So everyone must spend 10-15 mins for setting up the updater tool which should save a lot of time in the future. Including people who used KH Yoma Addon server to download the first release. If you switch to Rsync, the updater will not download all the files once again. Actually it will not download anything until the first update. Again congrats to Sickboy for designing, developing, releasing and supporting such a complex app which can be used for all sort of tasks and on all sort of methods be it web interface or Command line, for the Arma community for free. well done indeed.
  4. I've run the updater. All mods have been checked and only ACEX was updated. The update procedure was successful and ended as expected without any errors. This happened both on my client and server. However, upon being notified that there was a mismatch, checked the version file and noticed it was 182. So ran the updater once again and only then some more files were updated and version.txt now shows 183. So practically it is 2 updates for the server although it seems to be related to a bug/issue about mirrors/checkprocedure or updating. :( PS..the problem with updating daily is -> not all servers managed 24/7 as updating requires a procedure of stopping the server and running the updater.
  5. Why don't you give another day or 2 before updating... Let people calm down and play a bit...
  6. This happens when you had that folder prior to installing with sixupdater. This is the worst part of the updater. You need to rename that folder to userconfig_OLD Update thru Rsync as you normally would. It should create a new userconfig folder with ACE stuff in it. Copy the folders in userconfig_OLD to the new userconfig. Or manually add the folder to your ArmA2 folder. Save into Arma2 folder. http://www.kellys-heroes.eu/updater/userconfig.7z same can happen with @CBA if you had that folder before installing thru Rsync
  7. Yes we shared the zipped files as well, which made the dl size 2x original. It may seem as a disadvantage but this way you can install the sixupdater and use the lazy configs and update without the need to redownload the whole package. ;) Best and fastest Installation method is; First Download & Install the latest RSync Updater -> Download RSync Pre-Installation/Update checks 1-Goto ProgramFiles/Six-Updater and remove six-updater.pid if there is any. 2-Goto your Arma2 Folder 3-If you have @CBA and userconfig folders there, rename them to CBA_old and userconfig_old 4-Please download either of these files, depending on if you wanna use the beta patch or not Save it in your Six-Updater installation folder. (If problem downloading, try right-click save-as) ftp://dl1.6thsense.eu/ace/beta/six-updater.yml ftp://dl1.6thsense.eu/ace/vanilla/six-updater.yml 5-Save the yml files into sixupdater's installation folder such as ProgramFiles/Six-Updater Program Launch and Installation or Updating (both are the same procedure) 1-Run the Six Updater. 2-Select Option 2 (press 2 and enter) 3-It will start Intalling and Updating (if you've already installed) 4-wait until it tells you to "Press Enter to exit" Launch Arma after adding -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX (or if you are using beta -mod=beta;@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX ) to your startup line.
  8. @ Sickboy & Dev team GJ Today and congrats on the release.. It's definitely been a hard one but ACE definitely worth it. Updater is easy to use once setup properly. We've been sharing the whole modfolders thru Yoma. This means its is twice the size of the release (1gb vs 520Mb) but it will make it possible for people to switch to Rsync when they cool down or have more time to spend on it. We'll eventually remove the zipped Rsync folders in the modfolders to reduce the DL size, for those who want to stick to Yoma only for whatever reason. Well Done.. Everyone must spend 10-15 mins for setting up the updater tool which should save a lot of time in the future. Including people who used KH Yoma Addon server to download the first release. Updater will not download all the files once again. Actually it will not download anything until the first update. Mert
  9. It is OK for now but you'll need to start using the Rsync updater at some point. We'll keep the KH as updated as possible but updating the YAS Repository needs a manual process. Thus KH YAS repository is not real-time and will be updated after a certain time. We'll talk to Yoma to automate the process. If we can it will be much easier to serve updated content. If you want to update your ACE as soon as the dev team updates and releases it, you need to use the official Rsync Tool. Even though we'll try to keep it as updated as possible to our best ability, KH YAS Mirror is an alternative and you should be aware of the limitations.
  10. Posting again as some seems to find it more user friendly. It's basically the quickstart guide for Rsync thats on Dev-heaven. ---------------------------------------------- QuickStart This is the easiest way of using the updater without getting lost within the menus or setup options. First Run using WebUI: 1. Install the updater. 2. Start the updater and select item 1 and press enter, this will open a web interface after a few seconds. If not browse to http://localhost:16333 Note to Vista/7 UAC users: Please run the application "As Administrator" (Right click) Page may take a bit long to show...wait for it. Setting-up 3. Click on Configuration (Not anything in the submenu). 4. Click Synchronize, you don't need a username or password, some text will appear when it's done. 5. Click Settings in the submenu of Configuration and make sure updater correctly found & setup your Arma2 folder 6. Click Presets in the submenu of Configuration. 7. Choose a preset (Vanilla should be OK) and click the Edit button to the right of it. 8. Scroll down to Mods and add the mods you want the updater to manage by choosing them from the list and clicking Add Existing. (You will need to add CBA, ACE, ACEX ) 9. Press Update, below, when done. 10. Do the steps 3-8 for Beta Preset if you want to use beta with ACE as well. Installing/Updating 11. Click on Main. 12. Select the Preset you edited (Vanilla/Beta), then Install or Update (or Install or Update, and Start Game) from the Action list. 13. Click Execute. The updater will now install the selected mods. For updating ACE,ACEX,CBA without WebUI 1. Start the Updater and select item 2. This update all the mods you've setup. For updating ACE,ACEX,CBA using WebUI 1. Start the updater and select item 1 and press enter, this will open a web interface after a few seconds. If not browse to http://localhost:16333 Note to Vista/7 UAC users: Please run the application "As Administrator" (Right click) Page may take a bit long to show...wait for it. It starts in the "Main" Screen 2. Select the preset you want to update (Vanilla or Beta) 3. Select Install/Update 4. Click Execute Launch ArmA2 normally using shortcut / launcher. make sure you load the @CBA;@ACE;@ACEX modfolders. ****Note that you'll need to remove the CBA in your Arma2 folder and re-download with the updater for the first installation. So that you can update CBA later with the updater. ****If it is taking too long for you using FireFox. Fire up IE and enter http://localhost:16333. FF is unusable for me but it is running as it should using IE.
  11. 16:30 is when Dead3eyes posted the killer how-to post :D :D
  12. Go to launch game tab Do AddModset and Select mods you want to run. (if you select beta it will automatically run beta exe.) Put a name and save. Put a tick on nosplash Put a tick to launch local game if you don't want to join KH server. Press Launch Arma
  13. TY @Dead3yes Alternatively an easier method thanks to Yoma :D For YOMA Go to GameSpy list. Put Kellys in the name box for filter. Run Query RightClick on the ACE server & add to your favs and you are good to go ;) Go to favs Open server and sync up as usual.
  14. @Sickboy you'll need to fix the userconfig issue.. Many will have userconfig in their folder due to CAA1 and many other addons. Renaming & Updating dosn not seem to solve it. Only solution seems to be manual addition of the folder.
  15. This happens when you had that folder prior to installing with sixupdater. This is the worst part of the updater. 16. Did you set up a new preset and add the cba,ace & acex mods to it? Seems you forgot to add the mods on the preset screen ;)
  17. Create a new entry in the Config>Settings for that folder and a new preset and it will download to that location if you link both and if you install/update that new preset.

  19. Yep alternative help is much easier for a quick start. Still needs some clarification though. The question is, do you need to setup mirrors yourself of is it handled automatically by the updater.
  20. cheers ;) I hate download sites that overwhelm & hit you with all those ads and give you a tiny download button lost somewhere in all that chaos..
  21. can you upload to www.mediafire.com for easy, non-intrusive, no-wait sharing. Thanks

    RH Hk416 Pack ver 1.0

Great stuff RH...congats to all the modellers and people made those babies.. One request..can you make the aimpoint dot smaller and eotech dot thinner so that they do not obstruct targets in distance? GJ..
  23. Lower the MaxSizeGuaranteed to 1024 Increase MinBandwidth to 20000000 (20Mbits) MaxBandwidth to 150000000 (150MBits) Try the beta server due to 8GB ram issue. and you can try adding -maxmem=2047 to the server startup line.
  24. nice...sorry just saw it. Also, since you used -profiles=default you should have your profile under .../arma2/default/user/default/default.arma2profile FYI
