  1. Not sure if it's the fog or if it's been mentioned elsewhere but I'm getting better performance according to FRAPS. Not massive but up from 42 fps at the start of the helo showcase (standing still at beginning) to 47-48. Feels smoother in general and getting higher numbers everywhere.

Good stuff Bohemia - keep it up.

  2. Yup - I got a similar setup to you OP (GTX 670, i7@4Ghz, SSD etc.) and can see the lowish use of cpu and gpu on the showcase. My fps are higher though (30-60) but that could be: I'm running the dev build - which is definitely better, and I have 1500/1000 view distance/object, which does help. Also have selected gpu for physx, but not sure if that's better or worse.

    V. good performance in infantry show.

  3. Haha,

If that was aimed at me - I'm just saying it IS a game after all and I've played them all and loved them all but I'm no fan of taking things THAT far. I mean - do you quit when you die because that's real isn't it....? :j:

Still love the suggestions though. And I do feel that one of them is absolutely necessary.

    Keep the thread going.....

  4. Amazing.

Don't understand a word of it but the screenies do all the talking I need... :bounce3:

And it means the 'other' (excellent) thread dealing with the distant grass issue would be unecessary (the fix, not the thread) as combining the effects would make the enemy practically invisible and the game perhaps too brutal to be enjoyed.

Also, hopefully the fact that Placebo noticed, and liked, the suggestion means that it'll get some serious consideration at ze BIHQ.

And anyway they must be rolling in Ferraris after the last 4 months of dominating the Steam charts. So, if they were just to sell the vile pink one, they could even get NordKindchen to do the job for them!

Really, really good stuff. Keep this thread alive.

  5. I wrote this elsewhere but thought it should go here too so apologies to anyone reading twice! Personally, i'm pleased with Maruk's repy about the grass hindering AI detection and feel that the game plays well this way. However, it's obvious from reading the posts of you 'techies' that improvements can be made as it is frustrating feeling that you are at a disadvantage when prone during firefights, so here is my suggestion (probably wrong thread but here we go): why not radically shorten the grass in any fields that have cows or sheep in them - since it would be cropped short by grazing! I think that this would: give people the opportunity to decide the nature of their contacts/routes to target (in long or short grass); maybe help framerate; create a more varied landscape and fit it with 'real world rules' better. I also believe that it would fit the current detection system more appropriately. We would then have the best of 'both worlds' (visually beautiful, tall grass and shorter, more 'tactical grass') and everyone would be happy ;-)!!! As if...

Don't get me wrong though - I upgraded my PC (bought a new one) for this game and am loving it beyond words. The co-op gameplay in 'Insurgent Airfield' and 'Operation Bee Sting' with friends is simply sublime. So my message is: BIS - keep doing what you're doing because nobody does it better.

  7. Not sure if this is the right place to post this but since a lot of people are asking how to improve performance, here's something I picked up from 'Shataan' on Blue's News:

'A seemingly good tweak is going into the control panel for the vid card and setting render frames ahead to 8, rather than the default 3. Seems to help alot.'

Obviously I wouldn't post if I hadn't tried it and I have to say that for me the increase was instantly noticeable... even on my system which was running it pretty well in the first place. And since it's the done thing, here are my specs - i7@4ghz, 6gb ddr3, gtx285, Gigabyte EX58-UD5, 64gb SSD.

    ... and yes, i did upgrade for Arma2 - which I'm loving!

Oops - forgot to say that I'm using Win7 64bit too. Dunno if that's relevant to the tweak but it's in the interests of the transparency for sure.

  8. Well, I began to d/l it yesterday but a crash forced me to reboot and I couldn't resume cos i didn't get the confirmation e-mail...and i have still not received it!

So, i've e mailed them three times to no avail. I think it's time to cancel my card payment or hang myself!

Oh and to whoever got that returned by postmaster marie message, you have to fill in the 'subject' field.

I wish morphicon/metaboli people would read this forum

  9. Thanks sdstorage, at least I know i'm not completely lost! Just as a matter of interest; how long did it take for you to get the e-mail? I've not had it yet and it's been 4-5 hours! Maybe they don't process credit card info at the weekend...who bloody knows?

    cheers

    chris

  10. Ok chaps, here's the problem.

I've paid for the game from the link to Morphicon and begun to get it, but then lost my connection and had too reboot!

I haven't received the e-mail yet either but i do have the two codes (activation and DVD). Apparently i can re download it at any time but how...dear lord how?

Any help would be appreciated, esp. from those of you who have got the game via this method. Is there a link in the e-mail or what as I can't find one on the site. I'm sure you can  appreciate my frustration so plz help me out.

    Thanks in anticipation

  11. Whooyoocallinstoopid?

It was just a question (to which no-one actually had an answer this side of the Bohemia Hills in southern Bohemia) and anyway Worthplaying have answered it now. I'm happy with that.

  12. I loved H+D2 personally, it's one of my all time favourites. The expansion was ok too; especially the co-op element. I played this with friends at my house like we do every Friday and this is a great way to do so, if you can.

Currently we are playing through GRAW and loving that, but we were always waiting for Arma, and now it might only have TWO slots and there are six of us!!! I guess we're gonna have to wait for Illusion's 'Enemy in Sight' for some real...co-operization!

    chris

  13. Quote[/b] ]Doesn't that mean that you only need one other person, but can have more than one other to play the coop?

In other words, you can't play the campaign coop if you're all by yourself?

You know what Uzi, you might be right. i hadn't thought of that so yeah, there still is hope. Please feel free to correct my thickheadedness in future. banghead.gif

    cheers

    chris

  14. The article states that you can play the whole campaign co-op with only ONE other person!!!! I don't know about anyone else but I REALLY hope that's not the case. Me and my mates (4-6 of us depending on real life commitments/annoyances) are desperate to co-op the whole thing as this was the impression that we got from earlier press releases. Please say it 'aint so Placebo. We'll have to start 'drawing straws' or playing Russian Roulette or something for the two slots...and that's just gonna be messy.

  15. Yeah the gr. card fan does spin up audibly under load but i use headphones (because the wife had a few 'issues' about my old 5.1 setup) so it doesn't affect me. dunno what it'd be like without the cans.

  16. i HAVE just upgraded to that spec. x1900xt, 2gb corair and a 64bit 4200 x2. my point (other than showing off) is that my system runs all current high end titles v.well (inc. GRAW and oblivion at 1280*1024) so if anyone was wondering about the performance of this kind of rig ...well you don't need to, it flies!

    chris

  17. It's an AMD 64 X2 GAZ and i have indeed tried it with the original FP. Same results really - it (the system) uses both cores although i know that it's not the game itself requesting this. Overall the performance is great but it's difficult to tell exactly whether the chip is entirely responsible because i also have an x1900xt and 2gb of ram in there.

  18. i have an x2 4200 and when i alt tab out of ANY current game (Oblivion, GRAW, Battlefield 2 etc.) there is always a load on both cores. this generally follows a pattern of about 80% on core 1 and 40 - 50% on core 2. this appears to be the way the chip works in all situations whether the game specifically supports dual core or not but i'm no expert. anyone care to enlighten me?
