Well, I didn't mean the alpha version. I ment the full game. The "What is in the full game" section.
-
Surely somebody have spotted there are 5 factions mentioned in the Alpha Briefing section. Unknown who, but at least confirmed now. :)
-
Xzibit question here, though highly likely it can be answered now, hehe: "All future ArmA 3 DLCs (If any, not apply to standalone expansions or sequels)", it says. Does that mean that possible DLCs for a standalone expansion will be included as well? I'm guessing the answer is no though. Regardless, I'm getting the Supporter Edition. :o PS: Please change the font on the system requirements. It was difficult to read. More so on smaller screens like on a smartphone. The font is so thin it blends in with the colors in the background, and so thin it won't render properly (letters are partly cut). Picture here.

Oh god, not this again, BI. I wonder if this has something to do with P8H8 again. Perhaps not.
-
Yes, I will buy ArmA 3 and DayZ, for that matter. I'm too much of a fan of this game series to let it slide, and as I've said earlier, I don't mind Steam that much. I just think it's a shame that it had to come to this: one distribution source. Still, it worries me what will become of the modding community and the dedicated mod websites, but I guess time will tell. Even so, I hope and wish BI eventually decides to distribute their products through their own channel once again (excluding Steam keys).
-
What criteria needs to be met before BI would even remotely consider ArmA 3 or any other future product on Sprocket? It's understandable that these choices were made and I don't really mind Steam in general. However, if I understand Marek's words correctly, this would mean that the company's own distribution channel ("Sprocket") - which was just fused with the BI forum accounts - now only offers little more then Steam keys (if this is still planned for the upcoming titles) and earlier products. It would lack a proper purpose, and I find this saddening. Sprocket is a good alternative to Steam for me. It also makes me certain that every cent goes to the developers. I hope BI will at least consider releasing ArmA 3 and/or future products for their own distribution channel, as well as Steam, in the future.
-
When they have time, I hope they will spread their distribution range too. At least so those who doesn't want/can't have Steam can get an opportunity as well.
-
Personally, I'm a bit disappointed there won't be any other distributor - not even their own channels (excluding Steam keys) - but I get their point. I am however a tad concern what will happen to the traditional addon/mod websites, such as ArmAholic; ArmedAssault.info; Armed-Assault.de; etc, since Steamworks will most likely be the first and foremost source for addons/mods to Steam users. Still, the Nexus network (most notably for Skyrim) seems to be doing fine, even with an exclusive Steam game with Steamworks. Perhaps addon/mod sites need to start thinking new ways in order to compete, even though I hope that won't be necessary. Question: Will it at some point in the future be possible to consider other distributors as well?

I really hope they have the decency to wait until I get back home from work tomorrow. It would be a problem if I suddenly fell ill at work in the middle of the day. :p Saaay 17:00-18:00 GMT +1? ;)

Day Z Announced as standalone title.

Good morning! ;) x_SKBJaJBcI Source: DayZ devblog -
Hence why I'm not worried :)

This was the first time* they used an authentic name to a map, and the result was naive non-gamers, such as politicians, getting overly excited and concerned over it. If gaming history tells us anything, it's that controversial real-life names rarely gets a free pass - and frankly I couldn't give a toss about names in a game, it's what I can do that's important - Either pick a fantasy name or be generic. Real-life political problem solved (apparently). Nice screenshots! Still, I personally don't like the current setting for the bloom/HDR effect. I'm not worried though, nor is it to me of any great importance to the overall visual layout. Can't wait to hear more news though ;) *(Not including BISim products)

Hi and welcome. If you like to give the DayZ team some suggestions you should do that at their own DayZ forum (link). Please make sure you read the rules and happy posting. :)

The ultimate thread about Arma 3 anti-cheat discussion
Colossus replied to nuxil's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
You're right, it must have slipped my mind. DayZ will use VAC (Dev Report: November 2012). Not sure it will be the same for ArmA 3, though. It would seem a odd if BI left their own store for Steam altogether. I can understand DayZ: it doesn't have to worry about mods and it's a bit more "mainstream" then any previous product. A more linear and common distribution source makes sense. Then again, DayZ is Rocket's baby, not something hatched out by BI directly. I would think Rocket has a say in most, if not all, of it. -

The ultimate thread about Arma 3 anti-cheat discussion
Colossus replied to nuxil's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I doubt this will happen. I don't think BI wants to invest time and money on a different anti-cheat with the possibility it won't work, require extensive modifications or maintenance to run it stable. Especially when you think about all the mods there are for these games. Battleye is a well proven, stable anti-cheat for the RV engine. Of course, everything can be improved upon. Cheaters and hackers will always be a problem, though. DayZ standalone should be less vulnerable as it doesn't allow modifications, as much as ArmA does. As for ArmA 3, it's still bit uncertain. But several security features have been added to ArmA 2 in the past year - much thanks to DayZ, I reckon. How many servers actually use them is difficult to say. But with ArmA 3 they have a clean slate. What was optional in ArmA 2 might be standard in ArmA 3. So, I guess we'll see what ArmA 3 brings in terms of security. Have you tried contacting BattlEye's support about your issues, by the way? -
Seems I have missed a blog, in addition to the already added Secure player ID introduced by Ondřej Španěl (26 November 2012) This should be interesting for people with a knack for scripting and QA: Entering Open Source - Man@log by Ondřej Španěl (20 November 2012) -delete if possible-

It's been like this for quite some time, but it seems to have increased. In March, last year, I reported it to be 4 minutes. -
Personally I think that female character is an android gone haywire (became self-aware perhaps). To me it seems like it's the one and the same character, but reprogrammed or at least re-purposed somehow (willingly or not). The guy seems more of the "Adam Jensen" type to me. Human, though with a lot of mechanical parts. A lot of if's and but's, though. We'll see soon enough what it's all about.

Forget Armstrong! Gastovski is going to have to take his phone calls without sitting in his hangar office. Regardless, it's a shame the situation is as it is. I hope, for the sake of this community, there is a few people willing to carry on the torch. A rare jewel like this is worthy of that. If I haven't said it yet: Thank you for reigniting this timeless classic. One that serves a great deal of good old memories. :notworthy: -
Apart from THIS (LINK), we don't know much about the details around it.
-
With the current Greek situation, DayZ coming up, and this being Bohemia Interactive (Sorry, BI. It's the statistics), I'd say next year. But it's the first time ArmA gets a (semi-)public alpha, so I wouldn't know which quarter to bet on. Before March, I hope. Of course, I also hope the more important issue will be resolved before this ever gets released.
-
Hope so too. Traditionally they make a PC version after half-a-year or so, though.
