Arma 3 - Sneak Preview Livestream

Ah, right! I had forgotten there was something about that. Hopefully they can tweak the text a bit. Thanks for clearing that up again ;)

;) That's too bad though, I was looking forward to a livestream. Eagerly awaiting the recorded version :)

    Development Blog & Reveals

No update here. Even so, it would be very strange if they had an update on a Saturday.
  5. Nah, I'm not worried. In terms of stability it's lightyears ahead of the ArmA 2 release. The rest? Well, I think we'll have to wait and see where this goes. All else is based on speculations right now.

    Development Blog & Reveals

Personally I don't mind it, my experience with ArmA 2's campaign was not the greatest (contrary to OA and EW) so I understand if more work needs to be done. However, in terms of having to show this off to critics and newcomers (as mentioned before), I think it's a mistake not having a campaign when ArmA 3 goes gold. But I assume the problem is that the window of which they can launch ArmA 3 is limited. If they delay it I would guess it wouldn't be out before Q1 2014, something that is way beyond the deadline Marek has set [source]. Not to mention they also have a second highly anticipated game in the pipelines as well. Having said that, I think the Lemnos incident may have caused the campaign to be altered dramatically, if not just a bit, which could be the main reason the campaign is being delayed. Of course, bugs is also a likely factor. We'll know more once that blog pops up. Until then it's just assumptions.

Action Menu - must do better

I'm all for rethinking the action menu, I think it's on high time for a revolution. I'm not such a big fan of highlighting however, but if it were to be true it would be preferable to have it in a discreet fashion - disabled if possible.
  9. I got to say, Steam doesn't give a good explanation what these cards are for. I too made no sense of these cards until I made a badge, and I actually wouldn't mind if BI makes trading cards for ArmA 3 (or any other game). Of course, that also requires BI makes content to go with the badge(s). Still, not a high priority in my book. It's just a gimmick, as previously mentioned. So, here it is. You play a game and you gain trading cards by playing it - I think you get about 50% of the actual deck just by playing, and the rest you'll need to get either by trading cards or buying them on the market (See Community -> Market). Where, by the way, you can also sell your cards for Steam credits, which in turn can be used to buy cards (just don't expect a large amount credits). Once you gain all the trading cards in a deck you can make a badge. Along with the badge you might get certain things like backgrounds for you profile, smileys for you chat, coupons you can use on Steam, etc. You also get exp. for every badge and by leveling up you can get some perks like higher friends limit, etc. It's nothing fancy, but it beats the hell out of unrewarding achievements.

    Arma 3 - Games Media

Norway www.gamer.no (online) My personal favorite and they've written quite a bit about BI games in the past. www.pressfire.no (online) www.gamereactor.no (online + magazine) www.spill.no (online) I'm sure you guys already know about www.battlefield.no. It's a game community website, but it's popular and they write a lot of articles - also quite a few about BI games.
  11. The criteria being that they've already seen the specific enemy before it disappeared and that they are also guessing where the unseen enemy is going, like in ArmA 2?

Poll - Rather Modern or Futuristic?

Likewise and from what I've read the devs seem to think the same. I don't mind AKs, M4s, and whatnot, I'd be very happy if the community brings in "modern equipment" as well, but I think it's healthy to see BI go a bit crazy about their own stuff. Even though I think some of the equipment isn't too far off from becoming standard equipment (one form or another). Some of which are already there.
  13. If I've observed this correctly, it works best when all the vehicles are the same type. Like in A2, trying to place a tracked vehicle with the same group as trucks messes up the whole convoy. It's more to it then that, of course. But I'm fairly sure that however the code is written that makes it possible for an AI to drive in a convoy, doesn't work as well as it could have been. Most likely there are other mechanics that interferes with it as well.

  15. The glass windows doesn't sync with the door animations, it's currently in the door's original positions. It's nice to see all the doors opening when you're entering and exiting, but I'm not sure when I would use this feature otherwise. Still, it a nice touch when doing machinimas. :) Also, I hope they'll adjust/revert (pre-07302, not listed as changed) the miniguns for the KA-60 and AH-9, because there are simply not enough ballistics, physics and mechanical quirks in A3 that would replicate the actual accuracy within the real-world. Granted, they are pretty accurate in RL, but it's a bit silly at the moment. Somewhere in between the previous spread and the current accuracy it has now would be good (that also included the miniguns for the UH-80).
  16. Wait a minute, did they mess with the miniguns on the AH-9 and PO-30 in the latest dev build? I swear it they had a good spread yesterday and now they are near pin point accurate - apart from the door guns of the UH80 and the vehicles, which already had it like that.
  17. Ninja'd :butbut: Though this is purely without googles: This is much better, it also makes googles a visually usable item without causing overlaps. I'm surprised they even considered that feedback ticket actually. Kudos for that. :) That being said, I think the Spec Ops version should remain as it is; with one down. It looks.. for lack of a better word: appropriate.

ArmA III is the last Arma

I don't currently mind if this is the last in the ArmA-series (if not for a decade or two), just make sure it's done properly and perhaps with one or two expansions - like OA, which was a good extension of A2 in my book. Both in terms of content and features - It's also understandable from a developer's point-of-view. So if BI wants to make an open world western next time, do so. ;)

Why isn't Capture the Island more popular?

Pretty much what EDcase said. I didn't like Warfare that much, it's wasn't the same. So anything like crCTI or any other version are more then welcome to try! :D I miss MFCTI though and how CTI was played in OFP. Purchase workers to build your buildings, asking the commander for money so you could buy that fancy tank you wanted, the ever lasting hunt for their base and MHQ (of course, most likely on seperate locations. Maybe even built a fortress on/around it), finding that last damn building some clever comm had disguised as a regular building (or inside another, hehe).. Good times :biggrin_o:

  23. I like it. Very happy with the PP settings now and added content is a good boost for morale, you might say :p Some obvious visual bugs with some of the units. Tail lights seems doesn't seem to work properly on the HEMTT, I think it was; Ghosthawk seems to have a problem with the flood light and collision lights when turned off; and the "F2000"'s muzzle seems a bit odd, it's tilted, but all of this are minor things.
  24. Aaah, the video settings are now a delight. You can actually choose how strong you want the bloom to be, AND the radial and rotation blur are separate, as well as the depth of field.
