I'm 21 years old -- after finishing high school I spent 9 months in the army, where I also studied for entrance exams to the university. When I got home I started studying English philology at the university, and have been doing so for 1.5 years now. I also take courses in Russian and East European Studies but that's more like a hobby for me. Someday I'll hopefully get my MA degree. Apart from studying, I like to take part in different student activities, such as drinking, drinking and drinking a little bit more. Of course, this is ok only as long as my studies progress as planned ;)

You can run FDFMOD with 1.94b easily by 1. creating a shortcut to FLASHPOINTBETA.EXE 2. add the following flags after the exe on the target line: -mod=fdfmod There you go @ Blink Dog: Rest easy, not everything makes it to the frontpage. There will be plenty of new things to play around with in 1.1

What's so odd about a chinook getting hit? Maybe some of us have been playing OFP too long. Yeah  Tamme how often do we se Chinooks falling from the sky? I dont think Iraqis have got AA or SAM with such potential as to bring a heli down. From the news i am hearing is that americans are being very lax in security they have even moved back the airport security perimeter from 5000 m to 2000 m more danger for aircrafts to be hit and i also read that they have taken the Baghdad airports Mcdonalds hostage  I was watching BBC World earlier today, they said that there are still several hundred shoulder-launched AA missiles missing from the Iraqi army depots. I don't know what type of missiles the Iraqis have, but I could think that they have Soviet-manufactured SA-7 or SA-14, which are more than capable to take a Chinook down.

In addition to normal air force bases, Finland has an extensive network of road bases. Helps in dispersing the fighters. You don't want to put all your eggs in the same basket, you know ;) What a boring fall break, here's another picture:

They seem to have some kind of bandwidth limitation. I tried it a few times and it worked. Too bad I cannot mirror it, I've forgotten my password for my website Let's talk about the units for a while. My opinion: The helmets look a bit strange. Too shiny maybe? There is a skin coloured texture near the unit's neck. It does not match with the OFP units changing faces. About the action menu, I do not know how useful these features (helmet/camouflage) are, but they are a nice addition. I would consider making them possible through init line as you have instructed in your readme. Anyway, a good addon ... and thanks for the new transport I've been waiting for Mi-8 a long time.

Are the urban infantry supposed to be from Livsgardet or do they train them elsewhere too? Looking good, especially the AK5 sight.

The RF 76. air assault division that is stationed in Pskov has been getting a lot of funding as far as I know, because it is currently an experimental unit. In 2003-2004 the division will be made up completely of volunteers. The subject of this test is of course related to the military reform of the Russian armed forces. I read a newspaper article a while ago (couldn't locate it, damn) that the experiment has been a failure so far - the relatively high wages persuaded a lot of soldiers who are incapable of such operations to join (ie. alcoholics, drug abusers ...) About the addon - looks very good. The face camouflage is maybe a bit overdone in my opinion. Now we just need a good plane for these units ... I thought RHS are also making VDV units? Well, the more the merrier, but I'm sure people will start nagging about split effort here

I served 270 days as a military police sniper in the Finnish Defence Forces. Here's a picture of myself on guard duty last September. We were protecting a power plant in the Helsinki area - as you might notice from my eyes, we did not get too much sack time during the exercise ;) I'm wearing a standard issue flak jacket on top of my M/91 (model 91) battle dress uniform. The scarf/cap makes me look like a teddybear :P The black/white thing on my left sleeve is similar to the cloth you can find from the FDFMOD military police units ;)

I was kinda hoping for bigger news coverage on this event. It was actually kinda dull ... maybe people are too bored with space flights these days, or China was a tad bit late ;) I wish I had lived during the time of Sputnik, Juri Gagarin and the flights to moon

After a long time, I just listened to the Monkey Island I theme, and started thinking about my alltime favourite tracks in different games. I figured out that the Monkey Island I theme has to be the best one, it really catches the feeling of being a pirate in the Caribbean Another one I thought of was the whole soundtrack of a classic C-64 game called The Hobbit (the version with graphics). Obviously, the game is based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien. OPF has a decent soundtrack, but nothing special, in my opinion ... Edit: Forgot to mention, even if this thread is about favorites, the most annoying soundtrack ever must be in Europa Universalis II. I can't find the trackname, but those who have played the game know the song with those weird women singing ... Jesus, it's just plain atrocious.

If you have troubles running FDFMOD with a Radeon 9x00 series display adapter (ie. you get the cannot create 3d error), try downloading beta patch 1.94b and add the following flags to the shortcut: flashpointbeta.exe -nomap -mod=finmod --- A few keywords if someone tries to search for this: FDFMOD, Radeon 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800, pro, cannot create 3d, memory Edit: A lot of typos today ...

If I remember correctly, FDFMOD has 14 new voice profiles. Anyway, a great idea. Creating voice profiles is not that difficult, and I'm sure there are plenty of Russians in the community, someone just has to organize them. Sounds like a RHS project to me ;)

A very nice pack, but I haven't had much time to explore the map, because it crashes every 15 minutes or so, making my computer reboot automatically I wonder what could be the problem? I am using the addon in an addon folder, version 1.92b ... 1.3 ghz athlon / 512 mb, and plenty of free space on the drive where I've got OFP installed.

Would this make it possible for AI to use both of the airports on Nogova, for example? A great idea otherwise. I'll be definitely keeping my eye on this project ...

I'd say national TOTAL conversion mods ;) I also initially thought that FDFMOD would not probably interest foreign people that much, but that was all nonsense. I've been checking the download amounts from the mirrors that are posted on our website, and the numbers are very high for a 200 mb national mod. Of course, one factor that might have aided the success was its status as the first total conversion mod, but I think it's still a quality product, even if it would have been the last one to come out Thumbs up to CSLA mod, can't wait to see the finished product!

Ermm...I tend to disagree... I use ExploMod + FDF simultaneously,there is a released compatible version of the 2 greatest Mods for OFP. probably in MP it would give a modified message,but I generally play FDF SP. In future you don't necessarily need REM anymore, the new FDFMOD version will have some new effects too ;)

I sure hope its T-84-120 (or OPLOT, whatever you want to call it ...), but the radio antennas look more like T-72-120. Are there any other options what it could be?

Ok, if you want to play this game a bit further, why don't you post some "intelligence pictures taken by a NATO satellite"?

Almost five days without any posts here. I recently read a book about Finnish radio intelligence during WWII and learned that whenever there is a long period of silence among Russian forces, it means a major offensive is about to begin ;) So, I expect to be overrun by multiple variants of the T-55 soon. ... Please tell me I'm right? :P

Looks wonderful, especially the new safe walking animation. What are the options for using these? 1. Waypoint animation? 2. If you want to completely replace the old animation, you have to overwrite original OFP files? 3. Not overwriting original files, but instead including them into a total conversion mod like FDFMOD? Cheers, I'm totally lost with this animation business ...

A rather old and discussed topic. It is not possible to release a winter version of Nogova because it is only included in Resistance addon. If there would be a winter Nogova addon, it would also be available to people who have only the original OFP:CWC and not necessarily Resistance. This is the problem. If you want to have Nogova, you have to get Resistance, but BIS does not want to make Nogova available to people who have only CWC.
