gunship support for transport choppers
barbolani replied to pipyn1970's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Maybe issuing the command LAND only for the transpor chopper will do the trick: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/land If not, try to combine with, doMove / move / commandMove to the escorts. And If not, your only chance is to build separate groups with close waypoints, but the trnasport has a "Transport Unload" while the escorts have a "Move". -
ai cas support attack infantry
barbolani replied to pipyn1970's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
The easiest easiest way is to make the chopper join your group. Place a heli, call it heli, ungrouped, wherever. Place the player Place a trigger, activation radio alpha, repeatedly, on activation filed: [heli] join player This will make the heli join you and you may give it orders. Now to unjoin: Place a game logic wherever you want the base is supposed to be, call it mybase. Another trigger, activation radio bravo, repeatedly, on activation [heli] join grpNull; heli doMove (position mybase) Now ingame, when you call Radio Alpha 0-0-1, the heli joins you wherever it is. Radio Bravo 0-0-2 the heli leaves the group and moves to base. There are 1.000 ways to do this, and sure mine is not the finest, but should work. -

Catalonia: is Europe’s next independent state?
barbolani replied to mistyronin's topic in OFFTOPIC
Of course they are different, Iberians have been here for the last 40.000 years! That's one of the good things in Spain, 200Km away in one direction or other, and people speak differently, eat different things, live their lives in a different way!!! There is no more hate than any other country in the world. Any fagot that says something like "{_x setdamage 1} foreach units _regionorethnic" may have been born in any part of the world, and you may find them everywhere. Of course, as a country in a deep crisis, this kind of thinking appears more often now, but as son as everything returns to some fin situation, this becomes marginal again. Also independentism. Spaniards are not hot or cold, racist or hippies, that kind of attachment is ridiculous. The only thing I can tell you is they eat much better dishes than you. No more. In other words: Idiots grow everywhere And PLEASE do not put as an example of "good spaniard" a 18 yr old boy that rides motorbikes, or a footbal coach... A Spaniard invented the hellicopter, did you know? -
Hello, In SP missions I want to set playable all the units in the player group, so when you die, you have as many "lives" as units are in your group. But, what I dislike of this system is, when you control the new unit, after dying, this unit may not be the group leader, and that's undesirable due to lots of supports options, triggers etc.. My ide is to make a script that makes setplayable the second in command. But I don't know how to check who's the second in command. Help? Thanks in advance!

Ripping modules to know how they work
barbolani posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hello people! I have so many questions regarding modules, and maybe the easiest way to find an answer, instead of bothering you all, is some kind of un-pbo those ingame modules and see how they work. I'm sure there is a way, but dont know how. Help? Thanks in advance. -
Ripping modules to know how they work
barbolani replied to barbolani's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thanks highhead, it seems a list of useful links, but you probably noticed there is no info at all on Arma 3 modules. Arma 2 ones are well documented, but they run slightly different in the best case. -

barbolani replied to barbolani's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Yes, some answers may be found there, but as allways, unpboing this will give you a greater knowledge of parameters that will allow you to tweak those modules. I'll try this evening on that route. Thanks man! -

Catalonia: is Europe’s next independent state?
barbolani replied to mistyronin's topic in OFFTOPIC
The wiki is just describing a consecuence of what I said: having one single port with rights to trade with America, makes things easier for the Crown to control that trade if that port is part of a kingdom on which nobility had no power (Nobility in Castilla is nothing compared to other european kingdoms, due to several reasons) The PP decision is deeper tan that, the situation here with fascism is complex. ¿Promoting hate against UK? Nah, don't worry until you win us a world cup final with a suspicious refree.... the rest is just one week fashion... Remember british people are one of our best customers in matters of tourism. -
SQF code for reinforcements on dynamic waypoint failing on AI joining player group
barbolani replied to sudoshakes's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I must say I am amazed... been 6 hours for doing something like this (a "When we were soldiers" continuous reinforcement via heli) with lots of hedeaches and, after a few searches, found this magnificient piece of code (not my usual "I dont know exactly what I am copy pasting" style) Congrats. -
Thanks! I'll check this out. Just a thought, maybe the problem is when or how often UPSMon checks the emptyness of the gun. Maybe the AI makes the check, and, as the guns are still manned by enemies, then forgets about that gun...
-
Guns are not locked or damaged. Tried serveral times and AI does nos use it after being used by enemies. Is there any way to check if a vehicle is considered empty or not by the engine?
-
Hello! It is my first time with UPSmon. All seems perfect, even arty. My UPSmon versión is a stolen one from Bardosy's beach head misión (can't remember the name) cause seem to work perfectly. I have an issue, I have an OPFOR base with "fortify" units and static weapons. I have an AI BLUFOR squad with a waypoint on this base, once it is reached, in "on act" of the waypoint I execute upsmon for the attacker with also "fortify" so the attackers prepare for a counterattack. Everything fine, except one issue, the static weapons. It seems the static weapons that have been once used by the enemy will not be seen as usable by the new owner. I made a check, if I (on the attacker side) enter the static once, then the AI manned by upsmon sees the static as "enterable". I could make some "grocery made solution" like deleting the static and replace it with brand new BLUFOR created ones, but I don't know if UPSmon will see them. You, as scripting gurus maybe have the super nice solution. Ideas? Thanks in advance!!!

Catalonia: is Europe’s next independent state?
barbolani replied to mistyronin's topic in OFFTOPIC
In the best case, you are not completely right. Yes, two kingdoms under one King. Different coin, language, and laws, until sucesory wars (don know if in english they are called so). But: - Catalonia has never been a kingdom, it was part of Kingdom of Aragon. - Aragon has never been a parlamentary monarchy. - They had some kind of counsel with some power, but same as Castilia. - Castilia has never been an absolutistist monarchy country until Philip V - Mediterranean lands have never been a colony. - Catalans had never been forbidden to go to America. The point of the conquerors have a simple explanation: The spanish kings never had interests on suscribing america to Aragon, because the nobility there was much more powerful tan Castilian one, so, making America a Castilian colony will allow them to not share their power with others. - Indeed, probably the most equitative feudalism around the world has been in Castilia. The root problem starts with those Sucesory Wars. Philip V won them and imported the aboslutism schemes from the French monarchy (he was french, King Loui's grandson AFAIK), and Catalonia supported the losers (can't remember the name), so the punishment was the removal of lots of institutions, for example: judgements were mandatory in Castilian, no more in Catalonian. Since then, instead of the "common Project" like could be in schwitzerland, we find winners and loosers, and of course, the loosers are not happy.... And now my opinion: Nationalism is just an invention. The rich and powerful need something to convince you to send your 19 years old child to die in the trenches, and it works fine. Spain has a sick society with corruption at all levels, specially in politics, and there are some people that found they can have power with the independency speech rather more tan doing other activities (such as having a honest job and do it the best you can). So, supporting this, IMHO is just selecting which bastard son of a bich steals money from your taxes. And letme say, I don't really care which language speaks the guy is robbing me.... -
@Bardosy I allways had fun with your missions. So, please don't forget to send me a PM as son as they are finished!

First impressions and comments from one of the first fans in Spain

Hiya! I am one of the elders, not very active, but been a fan since OFP, and I want to say something: I rather have a 10% of better AI than: - More graphics. - More vehicles. - More weapons. - Diving. - Zombies (of course) - Clothing - Women The real addition from OFP to nowdays, for me, is the grass :) Other things like arty, or High Command could be scripted in days before. I am not meaning the AI is no better now tan before. But things like city combat, trenching, use defensive positions, use smoke.... Still can't see them. Flanking seems "on route", but I could observe a clear flanking tactic in OFP DR much better done than Arma's AI does. I think most of us want just one simple (and very complex) thing: INMMERSION. With Arma 2 and 3, I see "inmersion" because the graphs are better and better. BI: This is not the kind of inmmersion I am searching for. I want the smartest AI as possible (it is difficult, yes, yes!), I want to see them trenching if I place a trench in the editor, and never NEVER go prone inside a building. And please, do not solve it with "super Vasili Saitzev shooter AI". I am talking about inmersion, not difficulty. Remember: As a MilSim, AI will be a KEY point allways! More than any other game. Your oopponents and partners will never be 100% human. Keep up the good work, but please, focus on the important thing!!! -
