Depends on the map, island, and if many ais. on warfare be ace2 we hit around 10 fps with 32 players after 3hours but some months ago i remember when we had around 25fps for the first hour then droped to 15fps 30min later but when we played it on everon island we hit 1 to 2 fps. and thats on a i7 920 @ 3.4ghz You could try treaking the arma.cfg network settings to get better fps

Somethink like a dualcore e8400 will run fine for any mission. Iv had many servers and if you only plan on runing 1 server then you dont need a quad server and thats a fact. Because arma 2 doesnt even come close to using 2cores let alone 4cores. At the moment i have a i7 860 oc @ 3.4ghz and our warfare servers uses around 35% cpu out of 100% so i just set 1 arma server to 2cores which is 50% I also had an e8400 @ 4.0ghz on arma not arma 2 and there was no fps inprovement on the 32 player warfare mission we run. E8400 @ 3.0ghz vs e8400 4.0ghz just preformed the same. Its like this game doesnt use the extra oc for better proformance. same as it doesnt use 4cores to give better server fps

We setup our server last night and i was shocked to notice its full already when over 2000 servers online already :) Its meant to be a hardcore server but we unable to test if the settings got loaded till tonight when we get our key at 00:01 from direct2drive :bounce3: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/85.236.100.106:21667/

Maybe it runs good on that setup because the missions you play are cpu friendly and would normally run ok on 2cores? I have i7 920 gaming rig and a i7 860 server and both have HT off and run better. No real need to have HT on for gaming unless you use other programs that benefit from HT being on -

-cpuCount=4 with HT is really bad. Means you actually only giving arma 2 cpus which is 50% cpu power of the i7 cpu and there 4 threads you see will almost max out unlike if you was using -cpuCount=4 with HT off. Tested this on server. With HT off, Server on 2cores would use around 35% out of 50% on average But when set to 2cores with HT on both cores maxed out because them 2cores with HT was was really acting as 1core -
I played the game last with a friend but wasnt to inpressed with it so far. What i didnt like was the fact you couldnt use the side step buttons to move left or right while runing and if you wanted to go low while moving then you had to hold down the the button. Soon as you let you of the button you stand back up And im normally a good shooter but sometimes found my self having to use a full mag just to kill 1 guy. Also what buged me was i killed the same guy about 10times and between each kill a medic on his team would came to revive him then run off and hide so had to put 2bullits in him with sniper each time to kill him. Should be a limit on how many times a person can be revived. The game kinda reminded me of ET quake wars with the soldier class with medic and engineer etc. Maybe i get to like the game when i have the full version but i just didnt enjoy playing it much and i didnt think much of the map. Also theres a few other things that most people didnt like. Like no communication rose which alot of people wasnt happy with. Someone said on another forum Fps wise. I had around 30fps with high settings when i first tested on my i7 920 + gtx 275 so then i rebooted and turned HT off and and set the video settings to medium and had around 60fps in game and was pretty smooth. I wont say the game is crap but i wont say its great either till i play the full version and get use to it. Just wasnt inpressed with it so far after seeing all the vids and trailers of it which made it seem alot better then what i experienced

Offtopic but your proformance settings are in the wrong place. They need to be in arma.cfg or they wont work [Edit] Opps quoted wrong message -
Sence 1.05 Theres no more popup message saying out of memory. Server crashes out of memory but the console remains open. This is a pain because on 1.04 when server would crash with out of memory we would set firedaemon to auto click the ok button on the message saying ArmA 2 Out of memory (Click) OK So server would restart after firedaemon clicks that ok button. Now thats not happening. Server crashes but the console remains open like server is up and we have to keep manually restarting it. Bit of a pain if we not online to do it

Can confirm that we having the same problem on XR - Public #2 after updating. Crashed like 3times just after updating. Was fine before that. We notice the crashes happen always after a update. -

Didnt notice that when i made my post. So the actual vmware is Windows 2003 32bit And the real server os is 64bit i take it. Either way its not a high spec dedicated server as you claim. Dedicated means you own the system box and have all its resources to use. -

I dont get it. You have 16gb ram but use only 32bit os :confused: 12gb wasted. Not that you need 16gb on a quad for a server anyway. 4 Gb is more then enough. As for the performance settings i fill the max bandwidth settings are way to high. Heres what we use for 32 player warfare MaxCustomFileSize=0; MaxMsgSend=512; MinErrorToSend=0.008; MaxSizeGuaranteed=1024; MaxSizeNonguaranteed=512; MinBandwidth=18000000; MaxBandwidth=19000000; Them settings handle 32 player warfare fine and also tested them on 50 player berzerk and server fps was at almost 50fps still This was on arma and arma 2 berzerk on a q9550 @ 3.4ghz 8gb ram 19fps with 44 players and 9fps 30min later just seems very bad Either the mission is badly scripted which i dout sence most c&h maps run pretty smooth due to no ai or its your proformance settings. And my guess is its the high proformance settings killing your server fps. We get more fps then that on warfare with 32 players with tons of ai and vehicles on map. around 15fps hour or 2 into game. If 4 to 5 hours into game then we hit around 8fps due to so many player controled ai on the map and many islands buildings being destroyed Just because you got a fast connection doesnt mean you should config a server for that. We have 100mbit but task manger shows around 4mbit usage per server for 32players. Configing server to use more bandwidth then it really needs will just make problems and have a inpact on the server fps and proformance Thats just my views from testing i done in the past sence the ofp server days -

One last thing i forgot to mention. People sometimes crash to desktop at the same time server crashes. Just happened just now 30min into game after we updated ace. Someone connected to server and benny the maker of Warfare BE and other guys then crashed to desktop and server went down. Server not using beta patch but benny was and maybe others. -

We have signature checking enabled and removed all other mod keys yeserday except the bikey and ace keys as we though other mods may conflict with ace but we still having crashing problems. I dont use beta but theres quit alot of people that do. The server we run ace on is XR - public #2 and is normally full with 32players with server fps around 15 in mid game. But like i said theres times it runs ok but alot of the time its crashing. Arma.rpt file gives no info on why it crashed. -

Is anyone that hosts a ace server geting regular crashes? We host a ace2 warfare server and sometimes it runs a game without crashing but most of the time it can crash from anywhere from 5min into game to 2hours into game. And it always happens when someone joins. Could this be caused by people having outdated versions? Server without ace2 mod loaded runs fine -
I dont even bother using ai when town taking. Just get your self a DMR with 4 to 6 mags and a smaw with the ammo that cost $200. Fotgot the name. Then when you go for a town you should capture a camp before even engaging ai. I normally just drive past the mg next guarding the camp but sometimes i just shot it with smaw. Another way is to buy a amburlance from lightfact and move it near a town so you can respawn it if you dont have a camp. The range of the amburlance is 350m to 500 depending on if commander has upgraded it.

Well your facts are actually wrong. Benny used no modules to edit and expand. Bis modules was just to simply buggy to use at the time he built this mission which was when the game first came out back in early july. We actually did a test around that time using bis modules which was simply buggy and laged like hell. no way the mission could of handle so many players and ran bug free if he did use them modules. Instead he rebuild his own modules and the and scripted this map from 0kb to around 1100kb. Over a period of months when he had the time. His also optimized the code and JIP and then converted most scripts to SQF or somethink. During that time his also added a number of features. arty menu. support menu. upgrade menu and other useful things. Everythink you use for factory menu to team menu to change your vd etc is his work and not a bis module. Fact that his map has gone from 0.01 to 0.50 kinda tells you how much work his put into it . And you guys take all this work to start your edited version on and totally rename the mission and all you done to the mission is mainly change things around or removed certain stuff. And the point most people are trying to make is if i was to edit someones map like crcti which stands for cleanrock and mfcti made by mike melvin then they would be named CRCTI @ XR MFCTI @ XR And not XRCTI By removing the name benny gave to his missions is like me renaming crcti to xrcti When edited versions of warfare should be like Warfare BE @ XR or Warfare BE @ [AWP] Sence it is a modified version of warfare be. But benny doesnt care about you using his mission so i leave it at that. But saying things like Benny didn't make the base warfare from scratch but had the modules to edit and expand upon and removing his name from the mission he built is seen as disrespectful to the original author -

Well i get to the point. Someone told me how this mission was basiclly a rip of bennys and you took the credits for it and saying things like benny didnt make it and just made a few changes which is way of the mark. And seems to me you never even played the first arma or you would know that bennys warfare design is nothing like the original version. And when first released it was buggy and had none of the current features you see in warfare be today like command menu. command center and upgrade menu. arty menu. support menu. headbug fix and many other things.Bennys upgrade system. Bis version didnt have one and never will have. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=69700 First version known as Warfare RBT Then the name was changed to Warfare BEA and alot more updates and Code optimizations was done. Quote from that thread with the changelog Basiclly the version bis supplyed never got updated. Had no features. game would end if hq died when moving. Even if you had base. It was buggy and me and many people didnt bother with arma till benny made this and it was the #1 warfare map played. 40 players day and nite.Sence then when arma 2 was released he started his work on his warfare project and built it from scarch. The menu system. the layout of the factory menu/ wepon menu. command menu. upgrade menu. arty menu. All of that and the mission he built. Not a port. Anyone can tell you the bis warfare on arma had a totally different menu setup where u had to press the T button to access it and was 1 big menu Now the only bis warfare on arma 2 is known as Superpowers which has totally different menu setup and lacks many features that warfare be has. And the Warfare AWP version you made is basiclly a edited version bennys version which he built was scarch. Because i tested your mission And bennys menu and scripts and all over it. Same option menu and layout and design, Just everythink within the option menu that he built is the same. And if you serious think he didnt build it from scarch then look at the original warfare setup and features then go test superpowers and you will see So your quote where it says Is very wrong. Bennys map aint a small modification of warfare. Its in fact a fully rebuilt modification from scarch based on Mike Melvin warfare. Not ported what so ever.Bis options menu and wepon menu which is nothing like bennys menu#s and setup 593 kb Factory menu 383 kb Thats it. No team menu to ajust certain options or to unflip vehicles or fix headbug. no command menu and special menu which has more menus inside like the arty target menu, support menu and upgrade and so on. What you see in superpowers was pretty much how warfare was on arma but with 1 big menu and tabs. So i suggust you go check your facts next time before making out didnt build the mission and just modded it when infact thats all you done. When you build a map from scatch at 0kb based on Mike Melvin warfare then you have thr right to call Warfare AWP By saying what you did. It was like saying benny deserved no credit for the mission you modded when it was his work you modded. You calling warfare a small tweak release and your mission a full warfare mod is just a joke imo when infact its the other way around. Not only that but half the changes you made to the map you ended up on asking for bennys help on how to do this and that on our forums as zaboo. Benny doesnt actually mind if people mod his mission and he wasnt really bothered about what you did and said but some of us though it was pretty lame the way you use his mission and basiclly make out it wasnt really his mission. So i decided to say somethink There be no warfare on arma 2 if he didnt rebuild it. Instead you be playing buggy crcti or superpowers -

Lol any anticheat like Dooacs is useless now. Was good at the time till certain known cheat makers worked out how to bypass it. Signed files is better at protecting a server then any anti cheat system like that. But if a hacker is using a injected memory hack then i wouldnt count to much on your anticheat or signed files on stoping it ^^ By saying your server is so protected you most liking make hackers go there to prove you wrong if they see this post -

Rejoining server as opposite side

Supid question if you ask me. common sense would be to wait for a free slot on the side you was on instead of team swaping. I will kick a teamswapper if he supid enough to join the other join instead of wait for free slot. Was only the other day that a guy named red last connection and rejoined and team swaped. I was admin so he wasnt kicked stright away then 10min later our base with hq was attacked by him in a mi17 fully armed with 120 rockets. By team swaping he ended up attacking a base which was once his base. So dont exspect to stay on server to long if you team swap -
Server Difficulty Settings and Warfare BE: Help!

Add -name=Server -profiles=profiles to the parameters then go to the arma 2 folder then got to profiles/users and you see a file named Server.ArmA2Profile Add or change the settings to that file and save then start server -
That config was designed and tested by me back in june on our q9550 server with 100mbit so not recommended on servers with less then 10mbit. All servers will crash at sometime when playing missions like warfare or that evo coop style map. But if you cant play a full game without a crash then you got server problems. We can play quite a good few long games on xr without a crash. Only crashes when its been runing over 8 to 12hours without restart then we get out of memory message. But we had server last a good 12 hours sometimes sence 1.04 came out
