This is what i believe BIS should do to make things work without Heatseeker extreme suggestion to get rid of grass completely: The small grass needs to be smaller, small enough so people can detect targets, at far distance, in prone position. (without View Geometry LOD) The taller grass similar to Wheat Triticum field or higher needs to have a View Geometry LOD to block AI sight and to work naturally for Human players.
  2. Maruk can you please explain why the View Geometry LOD can NOT be used and does NOT work for Clutter? Making the View Geometry LOD detectable for Clutter wouldn't make things work better? I know Clutter is limited by distance (In "latest" build you draw grass to 150 meters) but with time and optimizations this distance could/might be increased further more so why not make this LOD to work for Clutter too? For example: If the View Geometry LOD was something like this and if the Clutter could detect the referred LOD it would work better then it is now, maybe it would work as we want. Thats what i use for Al Amiriya and Safwan Wheat Triticum field models and I'm happy to what happens. Looks and feels more natural.

I only believe Clutter (as you call grass or tall grass) block AI sights when the developer ohara or any other official Dev say it Officially, until then the Clutter don NOT work properly, ie, they do NOT block AI sight and not hide you from them. Sorry but for me this thread is stupid, meaningless and the available options in it are even worse. Too bad this thread was not created for serious purpose. :( Would be much better if it could be reformulated with direct and better options mentioning the respective patch. EDIT: I just hope Maruk and others understand and believe how serious and important this grass incomplete issue and feature is for the true core fans! Also hope they really find a solution in a future patch like ohara said to me once. Hope hes words were not just to shut me up about this subject. This needs to be correctly fixed like we want.

    arma 2 demo editing

    - Place the soldier on the map while in editor mode. - Click 2 time on the soldier icon with the left mouse button. - A window will appear and then somewhere in the middle you have a box where you can write words inside, this box is called init. Now you should know where it is located.

    Realistic Stars

    Yes, this thread is only for Stars. Stars, those shiny things that shine in the dark sky. I mean not the planets but the STARS. Looks like there is only planets and there is no real stars in ArmA2 universe. ("yet") Could some of those bright dots shine as they do in real life? Would make things more realistic and pleasure for the player. Youtube videos: Night vision horses, stars and road (version 1) (version 2) Another thing: Could we have some of these randomly too, please? PS - Would be nice to see the correct effect of the stars when Night Vision Goggles were used (at night). edit: damnit, after "dinner" i got dyslexic, i wrote "starts", it was meant to be "stars". Already asked Placebo by mp to fix it. Sorry!

The map is surrounded by desert and you can hardly notice where it ends.. in real life theres a huge river that cross the country and i can not simulate it in this game (yet). So the map have a big river, more like a very big lagoon with one bridge like in real life. Last showing pic shows you the size of the hole map taken from a chopper, so you can have an idea of the map. ATM the map has 13 different .rvmat (7 diff sand colors; 2 diff grass; 2 diff rocks; 2 diff durtground) These textures may suffer some changes in the future as they do every day, in order to fit better and give a more natural effect.     Al Amiriya

    Maybe because I believe its not ready yet to be released? I would like to release it with some quality in several aspects, until then we all have to wait. Ill post new pictures of the new 2048x2048 terrain as soon as i get back into it.

    Al Amiriya

    @Hawkeye-mas: The map had its 1st stage in the OLD 04-17-2008. Somewhere in the future after the release of Safwan Terrain. All I say is that I much like Al Amiriya it is at the moment, after some hard changes!

    ATI Catalyst 9.7 is here

    hi, i just tried to download the new driver but i have this message: It directs me to an AMD Graphics Drivers & Software, but the available version is 9-3_1_legacy_xp32-64_dd_ccc.exe which is outdated. Is the version 9.7 still available? edit: ARF, i just tried again and it work now. Go figure.. :\

    Arma2 roads vs Arma1

    I would say that the roads in ArmA2 could be more complexed then the ones in ArmA1. Though they wouldn't need this if the AI were reconfigured to act differently in them. The roads in ArmA1 are actually very simple to make them work, though AIs drive in the middle of the road. We as community can not help much if some of the road features were updated and improved. we have to wait and see what BIS made for the roads in ArmA2. Would be nice to have a word from the developer who are responsible for ArmA2 roads. Do the roads in ArmA2 have the same feature as the ones in ArmA1? edit: @mr.g-c: ArmA1 roads do not need to have any kind of special "lane" to work properly, the roads just need some basic and simple LODs and they also need to be closed on both sides, this was already discussed. In ArmA1 the AI drives in the middle of the roads, but if the AI were reprogrammed they could act differently in these roads, say use right side. I believe the problems AI have in ArmA2 roads are due to their intelligence or the way they were optimized to use a single side instead. I believe BIS can make this work with time.

    time limit

    At least in ArmA1 it work properly. Add that time in the respective place like you mentioned, then execute a script with something similar to this code and adding the following Game Logic (in pic). End1.sqs code: END1 = true; ~1 publicVariable "END1" ~1 exit Game Logic for END1: introend1.sqs fin1 = true PublicVariable "fin1" exit ps- i might miss some details.. Open some missions and check how its done.

    time limit

    why don't you put the desired time in the countdown time space? Where you have: Min: 0, Mid: 0, Max: 0, change the 0 with the desired time.

    Non-blinding sun mod

    Great Addition to the game! Thank you! Nice idea. But i would keep this for the normal view and then would be nice to have darker view if sunglasses are used. :rolleyes: Again: Thank you for this! edit1: Can we have some comparison pictures with Night Vision please? edit2: How does the stars behavior?

    Map & Waypoints

    in the waypoint window at the bottom you have 3 options, Never show, show in cadete moce, Always show. Choose what you want. Default is Never Show. Is this what you want?

    Arma2 demo

    The problem was the mission campaigns were buggy, as some people mention with the current version still is. So with a buggy campaign people would have an even worst idea of the game.
  25. in my opinion the feeling is so arcadish.. theres clearly something wrong with the physics after watching that video. ArmA2 make the feeling much better and more realistic.
