I always thought that the Sahrani language was actually something similar to Esperanto, the language the U.S Army used to portray enemy forces during exercises.

After looking at all the nice pictures of the Navy helicopters, i was quite impressed when i compared it to the real thing Arma SH-60s Real SH-60s

Are they ever going to change COD's gameplay? All i saw was COD2 with prettier graphics and a modern theme. Plus, it made me laugh when i heard one of the developers say that sandbox games were only a fad compared to heavily scripted rail shooters.

Most people who demand VBS2 features in ArmA seem to forget that VBS and most of its features are developed by BIA, not BIS.

Is is true that there were actually a number of models that were completed but never "activated" in game? I know that there were the police variants of the landrover and the UAZ and a desert version of the M24, but i've also heard that there were references to a SPG-9 recoiless rifle and a XM8. So perhaps the variations of weapons do exist, but were never actually completed in time...it's quite possible that they would be included in future patches.

While the protecs aren't realistic as modern SF helmets, they do bring instant recognition of the SF units for the casual gamer, which i guess was the point of the whole change- before, it looked like a standard soldier with a pack and a silenced weapon. More than the helmets though, the SF units could be a bit more distinct- for instance, their Interceptors could be switched to plate carriers or something similar.

T-55AM would be a realistic and interesting addition to the SLA i would think. For the RACs the M60A3 or M48A5 would be a fairly logical choice, seeing as how most of their stuff is U.S leftovers.

Americans idolize Marines because of the whole mythology they have built around the corps as the forefront of American combat prowess. While the army seems to be associated with a multitude of tasks besides fighting, the marines always have been synonymous with leading the way in a war, partially because they are usually the first American presence in a global hotspot and partially because popular culture has emphasized their victories and other heroic actions through books, movies, television etc. There's probably more than that, but then again, I'm not an American.

17 going on 18, i have been playing (or following) OFP and ARMA since the original demo came out in 2001- goes to show how much lasting power BIS games truly have.

Actually, most people would agree that the first "assault rifle" (e.g one with a low calibre round, capable of selective fire and detachable magazines) would be the Federov of 1916, which was issued in limited numbers to Russian forces during World War I. In regards to the Kalashnikov, it may look like an STG, but its resemblance is superficial at best. In fact, its gas system has more in common with a M1 Garand, although the STG and the AK both had similar applications.

Frankly, your overexaggeration of this game's faults isn't going to solve anything, nor is your attempt to somehow place yourself as a victim of persecution.

There was a Singapore Army Mod a long time ago which had an ultimax 100...i guess you could try searching for it on the forums or on ofp.info.

Nice reskins. Have you also considered doing an iraqi taxi reskin of the hatchback sedan?

a few addon/mod ideas i had...

That story sounds like a bit of an exaggeration, and in any case, is unique in modern combat. -
European Armed Assault To Feature Exclusive Conten

The BTR-80 and Bradley would be suitable for Arma, but what's the point of having a bunch of M14 variants when you already have a SPR? If anything, east side should be getting more addons, particularly in air units. -
While i'm not looking for a complete balance in weapons, eastern weapons currently are lacking in variety in Arma. It would be nice to have a RPK-74, an eastern SMG like the Bizon, or even specialist weapons like the AS VAL or VSS.

M16s are still the logical choice for the Sahranis, seeing how the U.S, not Belgium, is apparently their main supplier of equipment. If you really dislike the M16A2, you can always just go back to M16A1s with 30 rd magazines, which are still fairly common in U.S aligned nations. FNCs are still generally limited to a few nations (indonesia, Sweden ) at this point and don't seem very logical as weapons for the Sahranis. However, FALs or G3s could be another possible option as a standard weapon.
-
Personally, seeing how the U.S is responsible for training S. Sahrani forces, i could see the army generally being equipped with American hand me downs. PASGT helmets without covers, generic body armor instead of Interceptors, and so on. I don't really mind M16A2s, since the U.S is beginning to outmode them, and they are in the arsenals of many western-aligned developing nations. In regards to camoflauge, an olive drab or tan uniform might fit, or even a neutral scheme like lizard stripe or DPM.

From all of the impressions i've seen so far, Arma was probably rushed to shelves. However i cannot fault BIS for that, since they never even had a publisher until half-way through development and probably needed the money. Still, i hope that by the time 505 releases their version of Arma, most of the major problems reported so far will be fixed. IIRC, OFP took much longer to develop and had many more bugs when it was released, so many of the complaints against Arma seem to be more based off the high expectations for the game rather than anything else.
-
Of course it is disingenuous to assume that only BIS can make a game as expansive as Arma. However, the fact remains that OFP and Arma are two out of only a handful of games to offer semi-realistic combined arms combat, and will likely remain so for a while. Other game engines may eventually have the same large playing fields and better graphics, but for the most part they don't even share the same style of gameplay that OFP and Arma have become known for. I guess if you really wanted to play something else, you could just wait for those "realism" mods for Quake Wars or HL2 that may or may not come while continuing to complain about the faults of OFP and Arma.
-
Frankly, i find that there has been growing negativity towards Armed Assault recently...I mean people didn't seem as hostile before the game's release, but now some people seem to think every single flaw, no matter how minor, makes the game unplayable.

In regards to sights, why is it that the M4 with the grenade launcher is the only version to have the ACOG, while the standard M4 can only have the Aimpoint? its no big deal, but it would be nice to have a choice of optics.

UnPboing the file was pretty much unecessary, since if all the files from the RAR were extracted, there would be a pdf called "list" which gives all the classnames of the weapons and ammo (excluding the WWII weapons though).

Wow...didn't think BIS would include the classic "HK" with all the other guns. edit: please do not quote images
