Why do you want to change the config? Shouldn't changing modfolder be sufficient. But even if you are changing the config you still have to change modfolders too. So depending on how you change modfolders you can change the ofpserver script to either parse a variable or read a config file. Something like this: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">if [[ -r $NEWMODS ]]; then MODS=$(cat $NEWMODS);fi ${SERVER} >>${LOGFILE} 2>&1 -config=${CONFIG} -server -port=${PORT} -pid=${PIDFILE} -nomap -mod=$MODS Not possible with ofp server. Checking is done by putting the path to the config of the addon to be checked into your server config, eg: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">checkfiles[]={"g36a\config.cpp"}; But you can not automatically execute any action depending on the result of this check with the ofp server. You would need some external tools for this.

Afaik there is already a win xp 64 bit edition out there, beta or testing or something. The problem is that there seem to be not many 64 bit drivers for it. But you can use 64bit cpus with 32bit os too, and get more performance than with 32bit cpus. This is kinda like saying "i won't get a dx9 graphics card cause there aren't any games out there that do not run with dx8 or lesser".

It's all in the link that placebo provided. In short: the internal voicecom (von) only works when you enable directplay netcode, which nobody does anymore because sockets netcode is way better. So the internal voicecom does not work anymore and you have to use an external program like teamspeak.

TactEvents are part of the marpat addon, maybe one of your addons needs this addon as a dependency?

Just rename your ofp folder and backup (export) your key from the registry, reinstall cwc (or goty) to the same folder as before (takes only a few minutes). Now delete the new folder and rename the old one back. Export the key from the registry. Now you can switch between your two keys by clicking on the registry file. BTW: Ex-Ronin, why should decrypting the key in the registry be against any laws? Against what laws? In what countries?

Nice. D/L now. As the server does not read any textures you could have just deleted it from the pbo too ;)

No browser can hide your ip address. And if you even have to ask about this then the explanation would take too lon But you can always use anonymizer services. Those should work with every browser out there. Firefox is nice because it does not have all that gaping security holes that IE has and because of the many plugins that can be installed to add the functionality you want it to have.

Actually, sicilian does deserve the credit. If you could see the internal ALSR board you would see that he is doing all the hard work, although he doesn't write as much in this (=BIS) forum as i do. And as i wrote before: maybe there have been huge misunderstandings between us, but if this is true then you never made any attempt to clear them up. Quite the opposite. Whenever there was a situation where someone had a different opinion than yours (like, we say "it's not possible" and you say "it is") you NEVER backed up your claim. Which we always did. You never did disprove our arguments either (usual disclaimer: "always" and "never" are meant to show a strong tendency and not absolute extremes). So there was never a real discussion, as in "people exchanging arguments and coming to a conclusion/solution/compromise". And many of your post just made no sense to me, but you never cleared anything up when asked, only replied stuff like "i already wrote that somewhere else, use the search function", when i was sure you didn't. Cause i read all stuff related to servers and cheats and other mp topics and i guess i would have seen in then. This has gotten to a point where i tried to ignore all threads in which you were posting because i felt nothing good (=facts/knowledge/ideas) would come off it and they were only flamebaiting. And if you remember, we had our good times too, where we worked together on ofp server things. The question you should ask yourself is what do you really want. If you don't want to make your checkfiles public then why write here about how much better they are than anyone elses? Why write "my toy is better than yours but i won't even show it to you, much less give it to you"? What do you want to accomplish? If you don't want to cooperate with others why go to a discussion forum? If you think it is wrong publishing filechecks then you could have told us, either by pm or here in this forum. But most of your posts have only been insulting or ridiculing, without much substance behind them. As sicilian said, the cheaters are organized. They have their forum. The moment one cheater gets detected he will report that filecheck back to the cheater forum. They will try to circumvent it. Most cheaters/cheats that were detected have been due to the hard work of sicilian and others from alsr. We also know that there are some things you can't detect.... yet. So you gain nothing by keeping your checks secret, but the cheaters do. This leaves me only two possible conclusions: 1) you do not have those advanced checkfiles or 2) you do not care about the community In both cases further discussion with you will yield nothing (except flames). I've come full circle to where i was before writing this post. Thanks for your time. Edit: typo

This is well known (or so i thought) and afaik happens with all mods using resource.cpp/config.cpp. I just rewrote the ofpserver script to scan all modfolders for those files and copy them to/delete them from the server root accordingly. Pappy Boyington: Could you go through the textures and see which one it is? If you have them all in one place, that is? Cause depboing all addons and extracting textures is the most timeconsuming part of this work... As the new version of ecp seems to be nearing i would maybe wait for it and update y2k3. I have had lots of people that did not know of the savegame bug in ecp/y2k3 and did not understand why their savegames did not work with y2k3...

Who forces you? You should have enough contacts from the forum to be recognized on servers or ask server admins in advance about "the rules". Actually, everything i ever wanted to mod i could put into a modfolder that i did not have to use in mp. And i don't think this is about paranoia. We let a lot of players play with us on our server that get one warning or the other. But if you come to our server and you get a warning like (from our server log from yesterday): <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">20:00:06 mExX uses modified data file - cheats\init.sqs then saying "you modded your ofp" won't help you. Actually, ALSR is an open board, you can look at their "rules". But every server makes its own rules, most of them have them on their website too. If you want to be on the safe side then play with an unmodified ofp. Or ask the admin. Actually, i do this too sometimes (playing with depboed addons) for the same reason. But i put those in modfolders and could therefor turn them off if i wanted to play on other servers. Server admins normally pay money for their server, lots of money in many cases, and have the right to chose HOW and WITH WHOM they want to play. There is no "official" ban list, every admin bans for his server (although we share detected cheaters ids at ALSR). Ask the admin of the server you want to play on.

You won't find any info in the server logs: So your best bet is trial and error, ie starting the server with different addons and see when it happens or check all addons that are in the mission.sqm of the mission where it happened. I am not 100% sure, but as the exact ratio seems to be different on different servers i guess upgrading the graphics hardware might helpt too. Read more about it here. The only alternative would be to open all addons, check the aspect ratio of all textures and find the "bad" one and either remove the texture or replace it with one with a lower aspect ratio.

I don't need an open source server or client, but putting out anti-cheat patches for windows servers only gets on my nerves. The windows servers are always out days or even weeks before the linux servers. This has been bad already. But getting v1.96a half a year later or not at all for linux is just bad.

Benefits of converting config.cpp -> config.bin?
benu replied to General Barron's topic in OFP : CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Afaik most of the older configs (before the official commented config.cpp) were based on one single debinned config with lots of errors and all those configs should have the same problems. -
No, you can use trillian or miranda which can understand all those three (and more) protocols. Actually, i know of very few people using msn or aim at all. Most people here in europe seem to use icq.
-
They have to get those new classes into the mission somehow. I can make my own addon too, call it superrifle and put it into my addons folder. That will not bring it into any existing mission. If you would make yourself clear for once instead of lashing against everyone else we could maybe talk about WHAT can be done against it. But i have not seen you make ONE contribution about your "advanced findings/knowledge" in the alsr or bis forums. All you do is just repeat "your checkers are shit" when they have helped lots of admins. If your checks are so much superior, why not SHARE them with other admins? If your knowledge is so superior why not SHARE it? But you only put other people down that actually HAVE done something for the ofp server admins. And on a more personal line: you lied so often that i find it hard to believe all your claims until i see actual proof.
-
In windows i use miranda. It has many nice plugins to customize, and i have several hundred contacts atm in icq, aim and msn, so 150 shouldn't be a problem. I used trillian before. Didn't use mirabilis/aol clients for a looooong time.

Yes, we know. But we do not check for files on the harddrive, we check for addons loaded into memory. So if you check for the bizon.cpp you will check for x123/cheats/bizon.cpp (or whereever), regardless where they put it, the one they use ingame gets checked. You know, we tried to tell you this for months now... Yeah, i saw this too. They also disabled input. Kind of funny. As if anyone of us would download this stuff to USE it... at least without looking into it at first. Suma, Pepca and Placebo were also in that list iirc. I never installed that stuff, i only ripped it apart to see what it does and what can be done against it. Even funnier, USSRSniper is thanked in the readme and was also put in the "noobs list" (or whatever they called it) of their "enemies". Either there are two guys using that nick, their attitude towards him changed or those yeng guys are schizophrenic...

MAAM: Mutually Accepted Ammo & Magazines addon
benu replied to theavonlady's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Please update CfgPatches section to also include BIS_WeaponPack if not already done so. See also here. -
JAM uses stuff from different pathes/addons without declaring those dependencies in the cfgpatches section. Most stuff is harmless due to preloading in the res\bin\config.bin, but some stuff is not. It would be great if you could fix these issues as well. Pathes used in jam_magazines\config.cpp are: G36A, JAM_Magazines, JAM_Sounds, O, O_wp, Steyr, XMS, bizon, dtaext, misc but only bis_resistance is declared as required addon. At least bis_weaponPack seems to be missing from the requiredAddons[]. The rest gets preloaded anyway i think, not too sure about stuff in dtaext/misc though.
-
Yeah, i fix those addons where i notice errors on our server too. And players downloading those addons with ofp watch will get the fixed versions. There have been several of those "broken" addons around. You notice them pretty quickly in mp, people using them will display warning messages when going to the briefing screen.

LOL, i read $ instead of pounds... well, i would get at least an 6600gt then, maybe an 6800(gt), but not an 9800 anymore. The 9800 (even the xt) is slower than the 6600gt (which is in its price range) and does not have support for all the dx9c features (whenever those will get all that important). The more expensive cards like 6800gt beat the 9800xt by length...
-
I will buy a 6600gt in the next weeks but i doubt you will get one for $150, more like $200. In the $150 range i would look for a 6600 or maybe an 9600xt. The x600xt is crappy and the x700xt would cost too much. But i would suggest that if you can pay a little more then do that and get a 6600gt...
-
Well, i would certainly help betatesting in mp too.
-
You don't have to reinstall. Just copy them to the new drive and start ofp from there. It would be better to change the path in the registry, but afaik it is not even necessary. The only important thing is that your player key is still in the registry.
-
Afaik this is some kind of feature, ie deliberately added...
