    More MFCTI units and options

If a new addon addon is released the old cti missions will obviously not use it. So you have to make a new cti version that does use them. You could also try to get a replacement mod like eecp, y2k3 or flashfxur and play a standard cti using the units those mods put into the game. Nothing wrong with all that, but i guess using replacements mods in a mp cti will most likely crash you. But mixing the "replace units in the cti mission scripts" and "use a replacement mod" methods will most likely lead to disaster, especially in mp.

    More MFCTI units and options

You are mixing two things here: cti missions with different soldiers and config mods like eecp. You really shouldn't mix those. For some different units (although no different nations except finnish) you could try Medicus cti missions: USMC/Laser CTI Finmod CTI Winter Kodiak CTI

Hunting for 20+ players COOP missions

Well, he could just join servers and download the missions to the mpmissionscache folder. Or ask the players where/if he could download those missions somewhere...
  4. Besides that, most of the native linux games (ut, quake3, rtcw:et) run faster on linux than on windows.

    WRIGHT´s OFP SOUNDMODE

Well, the latest versions seems to be beta 0.9-2 (?). I still have the 0.9 version and could upload this to our server. If someone has a newer one that would be better though...

    #pcw.ofp - A new Idea

Maybe he is referring to the countless security flaws in the mirc tool and thinks they are flaws of the irc net instead? I have used irc for years and i don't know what information one could get in irc that i can't get from you when you are on icq or msn...

    Multiplayer 'Remote' connection problems

Well, you have not really given any info, especially if you are using a router, which model, or if you are using a personal firewall and which. You have to enable the ofp server ports in the firewall. Those are normally port 2302 and 2303, both UDP. Then you have to configure the router to forward those ports to the machine running the server. Eg if your lan ip is 192.168.1.2 you have to set the router up so that it allows incoming connections to udp ports 2302 and 2303 and forwards those to the computer with the ip 192.168.1.2. Those features might be called different on your router model, might be called "dmz" for example, or "virtual server" or "special applications".

    Multiplayer 'Remote' connection problems

Well, if you can't connect to him then i guess it is a problem with HIS firewall/route. Without more infos about your and especially HIS setup we won't be able to help you. If your friend is not connected DIRECTLY to the internet, ie if he is using a router, he has to forward the server ports for anyone to be able to connect to him.

    Invalid Texture Aspect Ratio (16x256)

Old news, do a search for aspect ratio and you should find more info. In short: you have to modify or remove the offending texture from the addon for it to work on a dedicated server. See for example here, here and here. BTW if you check out the mi-26 thread you will see that we had not much luck with this addon on the server even with fixed textures as it was next to unusable. But good luck to you anyway.

    Return Of Pulse Gaming

Maybe more people would read it if it was more easily accessible? I mean, i would exspect from a digital magazine that it can be read online, as in a webpage or an online pdf. To be redirected to a download site, having to download an archiv, save it to disc, open it and save the magazine and then start it from disc is just too cumbersome.

    The best sound.pbo

Why don't use the ones given two times on page 1 of this thread? Nice. I just checked, the link i found for the kyllikki pack with google does not seem to work anymore. I hope this one lasts longer. The Battlefield Insane Pack on that is incomplete though (it consists of two downloads). The one on that ranger site is the v1.20 without the resistance sounds. But the two links for BFI on page 1 work. I just downloaded from there. Here is mirror though: BattlefieldInsaneSoundPack_v1.21.zip SoundBIS_1.7beta.zip SoundBIS_Revision1.61.zip You need the first file and one of the last two.

Hunting for 20+ players COOP missions

We got a few more on our server, but i don't any official download links. I could make a packet though, would be something like 15 coops for >20 players.

    Addons "missing"

Do you have any mods like EECP/Y2K3/FlashFXUR installed?
  15. Eg if you check for "player" on a dedicated server, where there is no player. You would get a null object in return ("scalar bool array string 0xfcffffef" i guess).

Hunting for 20+ players COOP missions

There seem to be a lot of big coops for the finmod. You should check the fdf mission repository.

    OFP on a Mac?

Afaik you need either VirtualPC which is expensive and does not give you the full gaming performance or stuff like Qemu/Darwine, which might not work with all and every application.

    Teamspeak, battlecom or what ???

I haven't tried it myself but i heard that skype should be really good in the latency issue. But it is an internet telephone software, so you have to call your buddies, there is no server. But might be worth a try. Everyone else seems to be using ts or ventrilo. Regarding the latency, if two players with 150ms latency (time the packets need to travel through the internet) each talk to each other you will get AT LEAST 0.3 seconds latency. The rest will be encoding stuff on the source computer, queuing it, etc. If you want to calculate the latency of the program you should at best be in a lan, everyone must have soundcards with hardware mixing (and no onboard stuff), and calculate the delay there. This should get you the delay that is inherent in the voicechat tool.
  19. P should be different on each computer. On each client (or hosting server) it should be the name of player, on a dedicated server it should be an undefined object ("scalar bool array string 0xfcffffef"). The rest of the questions have already been answered i think.

    Teamspeak, battlecom or what ???

Afaik TS has settings for that, eg reducing buffer sizes to decrease latency. Iirc it is similar as the anti-shock feature, the sound is delayed a bit to buffer for network congestions. You can turn that off in the Options/Settings menu. Pull the slider from "better sound" to "lower latency". BTW: you did check the settings before you complained, did you? If i had started the ventrilo server without going through the readme and the config first i would have complained about the bad quality of the codec too, which you btw don't seem to be able to change on the fly as in ts or only in the console with cryptic commands...
  21. Regardless of whether they are earning any money on it i see it as a SERVICE. You know, as in: nobody forces anyone to order a cd at the site. But maybe some modem users WANT to order a cd for $10, maybe they are even HAPPY about it as it saves them dialup costs and time. Not to say Kegetys point of view is wrong. But there are countries where you can't get cheap internet and i have in the past been asked multiple times if i could burn a cd/dvd for someone and mail it to them. Even for me downloading 15gb of free addons with my dsl connection is no fun, i'd rather burn 3 dvds.

    Teamspeak, battlecom or what ???

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I just repeated what they wrote in their license and on their hp. Although i did a test installation just now i did not go with more than 8 players onto it. For the PUBLIC SERVER VERSION 2.2 a hardcoded limit of 8 players seems to exist according to the readme of the server. The settings in the ventrilo_srv.ini do not affect that (i checked, the server starts for 8 players only although by default 32 (?) were configured in the ini file). Also, i had read this before, that many squads still use v2.1 because of the new license in v2.2. The problem is, read the license of the v2.1 server and check their homepage: And here:

    Teamspeak, battlecom or what ???

I just rechecked ventrilo licenses, and you can only host for 8 players on the free ventrilo server. This was a change in license for the free server with v2.2. The license for 2.1 reserved the right to revoke it when newer versions are finished, which they they did on their site when v2.2 was ready. I would guess this leaves you the options of running v2.2 for 8 users only or keep running v2.1 regardless of breaking license agreements this way.

    Teamspeak, battlecom or what ???

I think roger wilco and battlecom can be considered (mostly) dead. Most people seem to use teamspeak or ventrilo, some even use skype it seems. We use teamspeak. I tested and did not like ventrilo, but others switched from ts to ventrilo, so they obviously liked it better.
