Maybe it's from the battlefield insane soundpack? Iirc they have got one soundbis file too in their pack.... You should compare the configs to make sure though as i could be wrong...

It seems that on some servers the graphics hardware can't handle high texture size aspect ratios. Sometimes the limit of working texture rations seems to be at 16 (boutique/bouportec2.paa has 32), sometimes even at 8 (table2.paa and tablepied.paa have 16). Fortunately, the server seems to run fine without textures. So as a server admin you can always remove all textures from the server addons.
-
The problem seems to be the texture called bouportec2.paa, which has a size of 8x256.

Actually, Gadger uses corners for cover too in his "going rambo" sequence. And they seem to be using tracers and the white crosshair, how "no skill" is that? If you think "camping" (how you call using cover and not rushing blindly) is bad, then why don't you play on totally empty islands? You could all stand up in a row and shoot at each other when the mission starts. No boring "camping"...

Hi TJ, i am actually happy that this seems to be a misunderstanding, as it would really would have been sad if you meant your words the way i understood them at first. Although i find the "explained version" not much more constructive as it leaves any addon maker to wonder if he belongs to the "nameless masses" of "etc etc" (whose addons are "worth downloading") or not. And in both cases it leaves you as the judge about this. Better to name no one than an "elitist" few. And actually, a little bit of openness benefits everyone. Not to flame you or anyone, but i can't count how many bas or dkm addon had broken dependencies or other errors which made them unusable on my server or made them break other stuff, which i could either try to fix myself, report the bug to the addon maker or incorporate fixes made by others (Killswitch mostly, many thanks to him). I could always try to look at config.cpp (well, at least for bas and fdf addons, dkm "encrypts" them most of the time) and try to find the error and report it to the mod team. Which i always did. And if someone rips off an addon the community will know about it and that guy will have his reputation destroyed. I don't think this tool will harm the community, as it still takes skill and knowledge to work with it, ie i couldn't even use it The only bad vibes in the last time seem to be coming from addon makers overreacting/flaming in some way, most of times without even a cause, basing every argument on some invented stuff that could only happen if the community was full of thieves and liars (which imho it isn't). But by just saying it they imply how they think about the community. And this makes me sad. So you would take anyone who says "i know nothing but am willing to learn"? Guess it's time to file my request to <insert modname here> now. Sorry, i can't really believe that. Although i know this is about models and not about scripts and configs i really feel the same about it. If some people are saying they can learn more from a converter than a viewer, then how could anyone say something against that? How can you (in a general meaning) judge how other people learn or not?

I get really sad when i read this thread. Although there has been a tool like this before (p3dedit), addon makers complain about this one cause it is "public" (yeah, as if p3dedit wasn't). I guess Denoir is right, they are elitists who don't want to have "underprivileged" people joining their ranks. Sad indeed, but not surprising, that attitude can be found often in statements from eg DeadMeat or the CSLA team. And if you condense what they say it boils down to either "you are all a bunch of thieves and will only use this tool to rip of our addons and try to sell them as your own work" or "i had to learn it the hard way and i don't want it to be easier for anybody else". Both sad indeed. I am especially sad about TJs remarks, i can't believe he said stuff like "everyone except fdf, bas, dkmm and csla sucks anyway". This is so contrary to everything else i read from him. I hope people get over it soon and this sad phase of whining addon makers will soon be over and forgotten. I think this is exactly the kind of mentality that Vektorboson wrote about in his thread...

Let's see how it works after the initial rush, in a week or so. I couldn't connect to an AA registration server in the first one or two week too and that game seems to work now (i've heard, never bothered to play it agai after those first two weeks). So i wouldn't judge the game by the first impression from that evening. I was on two servers, but i did not like the gameplay much and the game crashed like 20 times in the process (or even while i was playing on those servers) forcing me to reenter all info and kill the jwdcom.exe manually in the taskmanager.

If you need this libs i can send them to you...
-
No, you need a vitapc_config.pbo.. dunno why it wasn't in the pack, download the patch 1.3-1.4 to get the latest vitapc_config.pbo. Any link for that update? The DKM site seems to be broken

Is AC97 really a chip? I thought it was a standard for onboard sound/modem?!? I think my mainboard has "AC97" too, but it uses a C-Media chip for onboard sound (turned off, cause i use a soundblaster). And yes, i know that it only seems to happen with TS, but it also seems to happen only for people using the C-Media chip with TS...
-
I don't know about ram, but two of my friends had those problems, but only with onboard sound from c-media. Could be a coincidence though. That's why i am asking.
-
Which files exactly are missing? Instead of using an old boutiqe.pbo and datatex.pbo i would rather edit the new data2.pbo to include those missing textures...
-
Are you by any chance using onboard sound, maybe the c-media chipset?
-
Search for segfault and libs in this forum. You need older versions of ld-linux.so.2, libc.so.6, libnss_dns.so.2, libnss_files.so.2 and libresolv.so.2 and set LD_LIBRARY_PATH accordingly.
-
I just redownloaded the alpha, there is a datatex.pbo in it that is not present in later versions. I will try to put that onto the server. Thanks for the info. Maybe this should be fixed in the next version?!?
-
MD5sum says the files in that "v1.1" are exactly the same as in the v1.0...
-
hmm, maybe design missions for the places that are finished then? That doesn't help much as long as the whole island crashes in MP
-
As ofp only ever uses one cpu i guess your performance will be worse because effectively you are going from 3.3ghz to 2.8ghz...
-
Afaik ofp addon checking uses crc and not md5 and you can only put in the filenames, not the checksums. Files get checked for differences between the server file and the client file, where "not present" is different from any present addon version and equal to "not present on the other side either".
-
In the editor everything is local to your computer, whereas in mp it doesn't have to be.
-
All files on the linux server have to lowercase, which the tolower tool does. How you call them in the mission.sqm is not really important. If a mission you select throws you back to mission selection screen then an addon for that mission is missing. If you get to select a slot and it goes back to mission selection (with an error message) when you hit start, then you got broken addons on the server. It gets pretty ugly from there on, as most broken addons will cause errors only missions where they are not used and it does not have to be the addon mentioned in the error message. Eg an dependency in an addon may give you an "missing addon bis_resistance" error messsage (cause it builds on bis_resistance without declaring that dependency in the requiredAddons[] array) And sadly there are a lot addons out there that are broken in this way, even from big teams like bas or dkmm. Good luck, i am just now looking for one or more broken addons myself cause i noticed some missions on the server stopped working...

GDT server: gdt.game-server.cc Addons via OFP Watch. MFCTI/CTI TC (CR CTI)/(B)IFE/RTS3/COOP also some conversions like JAM CTI or MARPAT CTI sometimes running FINMOD Now experimenting with Central War 04, maybe giving the WGL pack a try in the next weeks.
-
Medicus made some for GDT server but those are installed on the server and there are no download links. Maybe you should contact him directly.

Actually, i have to agree with most everything that has been said. Mostly with Vektorboson, but also with everybody else. I think addon makers of course have a right to say how their addons should be used, in regards to "ripping apart and reusing", but i also think that it is kind of lame to profit from 3 years of work that others did and then to claim that it is all their work and forbid others to "use" it. Especially if they use other people scripts/models/textures. That actually is selfish, although in their right. If they had done everything themselves it would be different. Maybe some kind of viral license would really help with that. Imagine what it could be like to have eg a free texture library: people would have to download smaller addons, addons would fit better to each other, etc. Some goes with sounds. Also i would like to thank VB for his work and tuts. I had heard you left the community and i am happy that this seems not to be true
