    In marks defense, the Mormon comment was out of line..

    I came out how long ago talking about putting and end to this. Saying we should agree to disagree, yet i get flamed for suggesting that.. 2 pages later still being referenced..

    Its ok for everyone to share their opnions, yet i come on and voice mine and it starts WWIII... I smiply quoted another post about your parenting.. Yet no comment to him?? why single me out, not sure what your problem is

    I'm not convinced, since you only responded to the very first sentence in the post and ignored the rest which gave it context. Even now, after I spent some time explaining the purpose of that sentence in context of the rest of the post, you're still refusing to discuss it.

    So once again: kids learn by being told right and wrong, but also from learning right and wrong from the behaviour of their role models. If swearing is wrong and only immature/stupid/offensive people do it, then why does daddy enjoy playing a game that keeps swearing? Sure, you might be able to explain why daddy likes something that's bad, but if daddy doesn't find it particularly enjoyable then why not just turn it off and avoid the whole issue? Why needlessly complicate things?

    I have a feeling you've already stopped reading this post and are working on a reply, so I'm going to do a little experiment, in two parts. Here's part one: if you use the word "mightily" in your reply to me, I'll give you $100.

    I was taking the piss. Although now I am starting to think it may have actually shocked you, in that you seem to be incapable of moving on and talking about anything other than that one sentence -- even after it was explained that it was deliberately absurd in order to make a point.

    Here's the second part of the experiment: Sorry, I was just kidding. I won't really give you $100 for using the word "mightily". But I will be interested to see if you do and request payment, citing part one of this experiment. :D

    What's the real controversy? Ah... right... I've seen this before. It is a matter of ego. The sense that "There Is Only One Right Way To Play And It Is Mine"... :D

    I think this about sums it up.

    This thread needs to be closed.. We arnt going to convince you that cursing is ok. And your not going to convince people that it should be removed.. You have your belief that it should be removed, we have ours that says it should remain the same. Lets agree to disagree and quit with the douchebaggery

    It's polite to give people a chance to explain themselves if you don't understand what they're saying. I know my posts tend to be a bit verbose, I really try to limit their length; but every word is there for a reason. I have explained at length the meaning of the sentence which so shocked you, and hopefully you can have another go at comprehending my post and then discuss it based on what I said, not what you wish I'd said.

    What the hell are you talking about? i quite clearly understand your post.. Im not sure what you think "so shocked" me like im an old lady.. Was simply restating what you had posted. Dmark claims your intelligent becuase you touch on all the topics.. i simply stated you didnt touch on all the topics, only the ones that proved your point..

    Absolutly wrong, he did not address all the points. Try again. In fact he started his post with a "rant" as well saying "So every parent should swear regularly in front of their kids while simultaneously telling them why it's bad to use that kind of language and they shouldn't do it?"

    He might have addressed all the points you wanted him too.. Might have addressed all the points that prove your case yes... If this biased conclusion is "intelligence" in your mind so be it.

    Hes obviously not talking about your post.. He quoted the post he is talking about.. And i dont see how he can possibly take that as "lets go out and start cursing all the time in front of our kids" i Dont see how you can come to that conclusion from reading what he quoted....     What makes this person so intelligent? because he shares your common belief? Once again.. If you go back and read what i actually said.. you will see that this is not a personal attack agasint him.. I didnt call him spoiled specificly.     Where on earth did you read that parents should swear in front of their kids? Maybe you should go back and read the post before getting your panties in a bunch. Nobody is saying to go out to your kids and just start blerting the word fuck at them. What the post is saying is its your job to teach your kids right front wrong.

    I disagree strongly. I grew up with my parents smoking in the house.. They smoked.. as do MILLIONS of other parents.. They told me NOT to smoke.. yes thats a bit hypocritical sure. Do i resent them for it? HELL NO.. They did a good thing.. A lot of parents like to have a few drinks as well.. Yet im sure they teach their kids not to drink before they are 21.. And yet again most parents swear, yet it is their job to teach their kids not too.. yes perhaps its a bit hypocritical, but its what you need to do as a parent.. Monkey do as i say, not monkey see monkey do :)

    And if you resent your parents becuase of any of these things.... sounds like you are a spoiled brat.. They give you a place to live, and feed you.. Live by their rules.

    It's all about communicating with your childern and teaching them what's right instead of shielding them from reality.

    Your kids are going to hear someone cursing at some point and will repeat it and there is nothing you can do about it! It's part of growing up and challenging the moral staus. It may come from a video game, overheard from a grown-up conversation or from a 'bad' kid at school or whatever. It will happen and it's every parent's job to explain to the kids WHY swearing is not acceptable, instead of trying to make swearing dissapear in a fucking game.

    I know this swearing option would make your life easier but being a parent isn't easy and you know that. It's a war. You need diplomacy, education and discipline. Not cencorship. You know who else was all about cencorship and shielding people from the truth?

    That's right!

    Now go be a good parent, my man.

    Absolutly. Best money i ever spent on my PC was trackir. Well worth the money if your considering getting it. Funny considering i didnt even buy it for arma II , or regular arma.. I first got it for falcon 4.0..

    Just a moment ago I started ARMA and the background (ocean w/ carrier) loaded the same way, everything was night and all the lights on the carrier were lit up - wtf?

    Thats one of the normal intro movies into the game.. I get it quite often. Your other problem however.... not so normal

    No you cannot put directx10 on windows xp. Only vista and windows 7 support it at the moment. When the first directx10 games came out, (crysis) people freaked out that they were being "forced" to upgrade.

    There is a nice project going on at the moment though that would aim to put directx10 on windows xp, as well as linux, and OS X. It seems to be quite a bit of work to do this however, and i wouldnt get your hopes up after reading it..

    This is not the only project trying to make directx10 available for xp however, i would look around for more.

    But as far as i know, Arma II doesnt use directx10 anyway, so this would be a wasted effort if you do it just for this game.

    Zooming without optics is exactly what happens in CoD etc and most other games, you magically zoom when you put on ironsights. There is no difference with the current sytem.

    I'd prefer if there was no zoom unless you hold right mouse .

    After you bring up your ironsights, you can double tap " - " on your numberpad (by default) and it will keep your sights zoomed out and locked there until you hold the right mouse button.. Helpful for CQC

    Know what your getting into before buying the game.. You clearly knew the game was rated M before you purchased it...

    Is there a book somewhere about military tactics i can use to beat that damn AI?(by the way, i play in regular mode, not hardened or anything) .

    you can check out the sticky of Dslyecxi's ArmA2 Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures Guide Published. Very helpful

    I certainly don't understand how an individual can become so upset over said usage while killing virtual people, either online or in SP. This defiantly qualifies as the utterly ridiculous.

    yes I believe you are right, in fact we should actually not even play this game because the AI are the only ones that know how to order other AI around.

    DUDE! you dont get it. I dont want to have an AI commander, I WANT MY SQUAD TO DO WHAT I TELL THEM TO DO. .......LOL let the AI squad lead......... lol epic fail bro EPIC.

    Thats probably the most stupid post ive seen in a long time... I think all he is trying to say is a lot of the problems people are having is becuase they arnt commanding their squad correctly. I guess thats to complicated for you to understand.. Not sure what i expected from someone who used the terms "epic fail bro EPIC"...

    I am curious why so many would choose the M4 carbine over the M16 rifle? I havent checked the data, but theoretically the M16 would be a tad more accurate, yes? I dont really see the advantage of a shorter barrel in urban combat being modelled ingame...

    I dont know why the others do it, but personally i like the M4A1 for urban combat for full auto.

    Im playing arma 2 obviously.. Just becuase youve never seen it, means it doesnt exist?? After testing it out, it occurs quite often when playing the domination map. Not sure if its custom scripting that xeno did while making the map.. I cant possibly be the only one who has noticed this with as many people who play domination...

    One thing ive noticed is the changes in crew members who disembark from damaged tanks. Ive seen a few instances where a tank has taken enough damage to disable, while not completly destroying it. Before exiting the damaged tank, the AI pops smoke grenades to conceal their position. They then exit the tank and run a few meters away effectivly concealed by smoke.

    That might not sound like much, but i remember arma 1, where a lot of times when the crew exited the tank, they just layed prone next to it.. waiting to be killed.

×
