  1. Its difficult for me to say how the new drivers performe compared to the older as I also have changed my 3 hd Raid0 to a 4 hd Raid5...

But, when I started arma I put myself at my FPS-test place (a dense forrest). My FPS was ~22 instead of ~29. But then I looked into advanced grafic options and noticed I could crank up AA all the way to 8... So I did that and right now I`m back at ~29FPS, but better grafics!

So I`ll keep the drivers! (still foggy though...)

    AA options before:

    Disabled

    Low

    Normal

    High

    Very high

    5

    AA option now:

    Disabled

    Low

    Normal

    High

    Very high

    5

    6

    7

    8

  2. I remember from a book I read that the russian 5.45 do more damage than nato 5.56 because its center of mass is more to the back of the bullet making it less stable. So when the bullet hits a body the bullet will tumble around making alot of damage, more damage than the nato 5.56. But because of this the bullet will also richochet more and change direction if it hits something on the way to the target.

The book also pointed out that the effect of the 5.45 ammunition are abit to nasty but it is design is just within the "legal" limits.

This is taken from memory and I do not remember the name of the book so take this for what it is, some information on the internet one person remember reading...  wink_o.gif

  3. I love the new ability to look around in optic view. I find it most useful when I can lower the sights and still be in optic view. Because then I can scan the horizon without the optics disturbing my view, I also have a better view when walking and still be ready to fire. I also like to take a quick look left or right to see what happening around me.

  4. All I really wanted to know was if ArmA supports real 5.1.

Do you have 5.1 soundcard in your laptop?

(for the rest of the discussion: I have a pair of icemat 2.0 and a x-fi xtrememusic, and its much better than my zalman 5.1. Both soundquality and the ability to hear and pinpoint directional sounds.)

  5. @Infam0us

I believe you are on different boats wink_o.gif

CH-products have a very powerful tool, CM Control Center, and I suppose pcpilot are searching for a CMCC profile?

CMCC are very powerful and you program your CH-sticks exactly as you want with different modes, and you can also make scripted actions if you press a button. F.ex in IL2 I have 4 different modes, every mode changes the buttonsetup. Mode 1: take off and landing, mode 2 combat, mode 3 navigation and mode 4 emergency and trimming.

It can be some work to make a profile, but I think its very revarding. And when you want a really sweet function or profile you might need to do some scripting.

I think its fun but I understand that some just want to download a profile as a base for their own or just simply to use.

  6. My solution was to dePbo the config.bin so I could increase the dispersion-value of the enemies' weapons (AK74 and PK). As a solution this sucks a bit, because now it is no longer interesting to seize enemy weapons when I am out of ammunition (instead I loot my dead comrades). However I feel gameplay is now more balanced and realistic.

    So there isnt an "AIdispersionvalue"?

  7. @ anderrson: Hm that explains that I have it much earlier, my pipe HDD->VRAM is much slower then yours currently.

I have 3 maxline III, 16mb cache, in a raid 0 so yes, it can be.

@whisper: No, I was the recruit with no AT wink_o.gif I had the bootcamp weapontraining with the pilot.. But I am a good pilot biggrin_o.gif Old sebnam veteran with joystick!

  8. Umm, andersson you are a lucky one, you must have the golden setup. Is it also as good when you are on MP servers with lots of players? I had only those graphical issues when it became very busy or when I return to ArmA with ALT-TAB.

I had to Quote you one more time smile_o.gif

I played MP yesterday and yes, I get the texture bugs. I played for a long time without problems until I got more and more often bad LOD textures and models. It wasnt too bad but it wasnt as it should be. As you said, in a heavy MP-environment.

I did spend over 2 months just reading about parts before buying anything, so I know the parts do work together.

I havent tried it in MP. But I have done alot of ALT-TAB without any problems.

Good luck with your next rig!

  10. I have a C2D E6600 and a GF8800GTS (+2 gig ram, raid, all the latest drivers and so on..). I can play arma with full settings, but I "only" have about 22FPS when there are multiple units fighting in wooded areas. I have turned down terrain and objects to normal, and shadow and AF to high. Now I can play with ~32FPS in forrest ranging up to ~80 in desert (1204x678). Nothing is overclocked.

I do not experience any texture bugs. I havent yet experienced any bigger bug playing the campaign.

    I play 1.05....

Yes, I feel lucky to be able to play arma as it was ment to! But my point is, you cannot rule out dual cores or 8800s.
