For King & Country | a 3D War Thunder Fan Film |
andersson replied to dcal's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
I couldn't find any 2D setting and I don't have any 3d glasses or other gadgets so I used the old trick of looking in cross :) Look at the center of the screen and then start to cross your eyes. Like this: Then a third screen will appear between the two. Adjust how much you are cross eyed and the distance to the screen until it has the same size as the other two. Keep watching it and you eyes and brain will adjust. That screen is in 3D :D -
You are right!! Thank you :)

One would think they add it as the earlier versions had it. But all I can find is potential users talking about it, nothing from the devs. All I could see was VR discussion, nothing about head tracking from the devs. But I guess if they make it oculus compatible head tracking will follow. Maybe it's such an obvious feature that they have forgotten to mention it, but i would like it confirmed from devs :) This game alone would make me buy an oculus. Would be such a mind blow to play it in VR with my CH HOTAS :D I wouldn't care if I had enemies or not, just to fly around trying to get the brain to grasp everything with a sick bag handy :P

Question to all - what volume do you play at?
andersson replied to megagoth1702's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
100% and then I adjust on my headphones own volume controller so it's as loud as comfortable. TS I use separate earbuds with their own volume controller connected to the motherboards soundcard (headphones on my dedicated soundcard). This way I can easily adjust the TS volume and it's also easy to hear my friends as the earbuds don't get drowned in the ingame sounds. -
Couldn't find any info about head tracking. That is a make it or brake it for me.

SMD Sahrani A3 - Bohemia's Sahrani Terrain as ported by SMD
andersson replied to cifordayzserver's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yes they do. There is no reason for the light to go over land, and the people living there would be very annoyed. I agree with you that it's nice, but it's wrong. Sahrani had it that way in Armed Assault: -

andersson replied to cifordayzserver's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Very nice! I wonder is it possible to set the light to only light up within some defined degrees? I'm mostly thinking of not having the light beam sweep over the city. -
Mouse sensitivity yes. That is very personal and might affect this quite alot.
-
Then there is this practical issue of constantly moving the mouse down to counter. What do you do if you aim down a hill and let go of 200 shots in one go? When will the mouse pad end..? Regardless, too much of a mouse movement like that feels wrong to me. To counter a jump in the start is more intuitive from my RL experience, when you have control of that initial recoil / dynamic movement you can keep your body in a more static posture. The muscles are not moving the barrel anymore, just countering the recoil. For me a RL equivalent of that mouse movement would be to counter the initial jump and then slowly pushing the weapon lower all the time. Recoil control, auto or single, will become an unconscious act. After you see the sight lift due to recoil the body will automatically put the sight on what you are looking at. Sure in the beginning or if you don't shoot regularly you need to consciously move the sights back on target, but when you shoot more it's all natural. I have to add, I don't really mind a mouse down movement as it will give you feedback of recoil, but it must be very subtle. Too much and that feeling is translated to having no real control over the recoil.
-
Because with the mouse ingame you never "adapt" as you must keep moving the mouse, while in RL you need to overcome the first shots until the muscles have adapted to the recoil and naturally keep it stationary down. Yes I have shot 7.62x39, 7.62x51 and 5.56 in full auto. It's the same with a fire hose, when you open up the water you get that first sway until the body adjust itself, you don't need to put any conscious effort into holding the hose down. And yes I have worked alot with fire hoses too. For sure, the body is still working to counteracting the recoil but it goes all natural.

RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)
andersson replied to soul_assassin's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Are ACOG NVG compatible..? Skeptic I am :) Suppressed is still quite loud. Many people think suppressed is the same as silenced. I did some dB test of different suppressors a few years ago mounted on the same AR15, from different positions (shooters ear, behind, on the side and so on). I lost the data but if I remember the suppressors were around 115 dB and unsuppressed weapon around 150. Ish.- 16577 replies

How come all the role playing servers needs money? Most other servers since OFP, A1, A2 and now A3 are free, or have a voluntary donation system to cover the low fee for renting the server.

Well, the general rant threads don't bring up anything new. So why not just bunch them together as with other topics?

LAxemann's DynaSound: A new soundmod (+ public soundmod-framework)

Maybe you can be more efficient merging configs on the fly ingame? https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_3_Diagnostics_Exe -
I see your point, he asks for donations to work as a modder full time. But the way I interpret his intentions was that the test was to work with AiA and that's why this can be found at the first AiA post: "Note: I will ask for donations to fund this project. More on this very soon." He started CUP and is very much involved in it, but nowhere is it stated that he will take money for it. That is a true community project. So even if he would get donations to make his life go around it would be for AiA, then I guess he can work on CUP on his free time as any modder. There is a difference in supporting him in AiA and him as a general modder. If he would take donations and stop working on AiA it would be wrong as people were donating to get AiA. Yes, difficult to follow up how much time he spends on what project though.. edit: And as you point out, maybe a bit strange if people donate, as to any modder, for other involvements. Where is the line between "donations" and "income"? I can't answer for kju, but that is the way I understand it. Anyway it looks like it didn't work out and as he had promised transparency he gave us the numbers. Fair enough imho.
-
If I'm not wrong kju never asked for donations for CUP, but he did for AiA. Work on AiA will benefit CUP, but they are not the same. I just had a look through the different threads to be sure and I couldn't find anything regarding CUP and money donations. C stands for Community and it looks that way.

Can people shoot rifle through the optic like acog with helmet mount night vision?

Looks like he is aiming with his left eye using the laser. The NV is clearly not used. -

Weapon Inertia & Sway Feedback (dev branch)
andersson replied to solzenicyn's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Totally agree. In OA I got the habit to have quite some load in my rucksack as I didn't get a penalty. Today I have to think what I really need and maybe even ditch the backpack in some situations. -
