This is a good read for you, I think 3d Guru review It seems like a expencive bottleneck... And Crossfire user, do not buy. But 3 screens... Â

Its easier to roll with a small AT-weapon in your hands then on your back. My experience. But for me, BIS is free to restrict rolling when you have a secondary weapon (heavy machineguns takes up both slots in ofp, maybe its ok to also restrict them?) Anyway, its up to BIS to decide.

I think you can get away with dual if you use fresnel lenses. The border is there but should be much less intrusive. I havent tried it myself but that is the idea... Actually I`m thinking of buying 2 monitors and try. Depends on the money as allways........... 1 19" with fresnel or 2 17" with fresnels... I dont think I can afford 2 19" with fresnels...

@BIS I have read some concern about rolling with AT and backpacks on their backs. Isnt it possible to restrict the rolling when you have something in the secondary slot?

I guess that you mean that you are not allowed to put your weapon under water? If so: Yupp.. I have swimmed with my weapon. No prob. Ofcourse you avoid it if you can (saltwater and metal..) but its no big deal if you do it. PS, I`m not on the picture. That is just evidence that you can swim with your weapon.

I remember in the "old" delta force days that me and my friend were daydreaming of a war sim with vehicles, soldiers and everything else... Then OFP came and now ArmA. Thank you BIS for making my daydreams come true, and improving them in a way I never dared to think about!!
-
I want it to as much as sim as possible, but I´m more than happy with the new upgraded flightmodel. Bless my CH.....

That is one of the positive things for me, I´m too busy this autumn and I do not have money for an upgraded computer until december. I planned to buy a new computer earlier this autumn, I´m glad I didnt. I will buy my new computer when I can buy arma, not one day before! I will not try it on my old comp..

A have used the brush on alot of missions. I´m sure the painters dont know To add something more useful.. I, personally, am satisfied with todays OFP system. But thats because it takes no time for me to change a mission to suit me and my friends. I can understand that it can be a good idea to make something so everyone, description.ext knowledge or not, can change it to whatever they prefer. Idea: Maybe the missionmaker could define what "modes" the mission CANT be played with instead of choosing just one. So if I make a mission that would be destroyed by base-respawn, I just define it so the players cant choose that option. But they are free to choose between no-respawn or group-respawn. (this is with a built in option for the players too choose their respawn...)

I would like some standardisation in addons but its very difficult. As Dinger pointed out there are alot of aspects in an addon, not only textures and polycount. Today ALOT of "accepted" addons (used on many servers) takes too much cpu and/or bandwith for their role in a mission. If it would be possible for BIS to put their "approved stamp" on addons that are up to arma standard (gameplay vs looks + quality) I would download them and use without hesitation. But I doubt that will ever happen... And ofcourse I would like a mod like wgl to alter the "approved addon" to be more realistic... Anyway, I forgot my point... too tired.. I think its something about peoples different view on what should be the standard and what should be accepted (f.ex one with a GOOD computer do not understand the fuzz about LODs as his/her computer can compensate...) Sorry and good night..

It is as mysterous as the stars in the ofp-debriefing....

Maybe it would be possible to have one runway per side. So east-planes would only recognise their runway and will autoland and taxi there..? That would support 4 runways; west, east, res and civ. UNN was talking about problems with airspace (and I do believe UNN knows what hes talking about ), but I cant see that problem (but I do not know what Im talking about! )

I will buy me a new computer (top of the line SLI, 2 gig ram and more..) and trackIR4. When I have my computer up and running I will install ArmA. I will play the campaign and explore the game through that. Hopefully get the same feeling from my first time on Everon back in the 1985... Â Â That lovely feeling of having no clue where you are and where the truck is taking you, all you can do is look at the landskape passing by from the opening in the back (my favorite place are back by the hatch, as it also is in real life). IF there is a SP-mission named "Steal the car" I will play that before the campaign Â

I do "blame" BIS for the grey stuff at night as they made it so. DXDLL is a free addon made be Kegetys that made it possible to turn that grey stuff off...
-
I have spendt my hours (days and weeks..) out in the nature both day and night. Yes you are right, there is no colours in the dark night. The problem in OFP is that everything is grey also when there is light from a lamppost or the headlights from a vehicle. THAT is not realistic and doesnt  look good. Therefor a turned it off in OFP. btw. when it is black during the night in OFP you really cant see the colours with or without the effect anyway..
-
Exactly!! Thats why I turned off that with dxdll in ofp..

That is one of the reasons I download CoC or finmod without hesitation or tests. I know it will work in MP with my friends. Most of the time we end up with finmod because its easy to play, well configured and buildt. But I guess both CoC and finmod have good knowledge and understanding of playability. If BIS will give some addons "green light" I could download them without further testing and depboing before play (not all of us can compensate with good connections or hardware). CoC and finmod are examples, there are other addons that we use ofcourse.. Yes, there is a discussion about BIS-approved addons. The rest is an OT about 56k... edit after reading Sanctuarys post: Agree. I would like to have BIS-approved addons because I would know that they are "good to go". But that doesnt mean that noone can make "non-approved" addons like today.

The problem today with ALOT of addons, community accepted or not, is that the standard is on visual quality. With arma I believe that most addonmakers will just crank up the textures and polys... I have opened and altered alot of addons for my personal mod and there are alot of good looking addons that have bad scripting, improper lods (if any...) and so on.. I guess much of this is because the lack of good information and guides from BIS. Most knowledge are from individual modmakers research and "trial and error" I believe(?) So whatever addonsystem there will be BIS should make a comprehensive addonmaker manual with as much info as possible. Maybe the wiki will give us all that? I hope so... But today there is need for an indepth explanation about LOD, textures, scripts and the limitations.. Maybe alot of addonmakers know more than BIS about this, but when you read threads about addonmaking you can get different answers on the same thing from really good addonmakers. Alot of research and misunderstanding can be avoided with more info from BIS.

@GrabberUK. I totally agree with you! Thats the way to have a backpack. No easy access slots. My backpack for OFP was just like that, except that it didnt affect the players speed. To bad the ammocrate-bug ruined it...

This looks great! Cant try it as my computer is in another country.. But what about WGL5? Is it compatible? That would be nice if so.

Americas Army, A Threat Or Rival To Armed Assault?
andersson replied to westy159's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
In QCB AA is alot better (a friend of mine is really into AA), but in combined arms ofp is best. The weapon handling in AA is good, but very slow.... There is no stress in the animations, I dont like that. You can reload quicker in real life. But I dont think you really can compare the two games, they are too different. -
The only new thing for me in Gamer.no is about the buildings. He wasnt impressed about the fact that most buildings wasnt enterable, they had only painted doors and windows. In fact it seems that OFP have more buildings that you can enter, compared to the demo. He adds that it can be better in the full game, who knows.. The rest was the same. Looks promising, AI could be better, impressive viewdistance and so on..

Thank you for interesting replies! Yeah, it was a setup like that in the picture I had in mind. I have read about the TripleHead2Go and it seems like a good device. I dont know what I will end up with but I`m doing some research, in the end its the money that is the limiting factor (but arma scares my wallet...)

As I`m planning on buying "THE computer" I`m thinking about what monitor(s) to buy. It would be reaally nice to have 3 screens to get a nice view, but as monitors/flatscreens are`nt that cheap I came up with this idea: Buy 3 17" and 3 fresnellenses. As 17" are alot cheaper than bigger screens it would be possible to cut down the cost and the fresnel lenses would make the view bigger. I have also read that the fresnel lenses are alittle to small for 19" and up?? How big is the view with a 550 fresnel and a 17"? What do you think? Then there is the question: flatscreen VS monitor. As I want to use my 3d-goggles I need a good refreshrate... Monitors are also alot cheaper but they are so big... A z800 or similar VR-goggle would solve everything, too bad there isnt anything good yet....

Even if I can move my head independently from the body I would like to have my "box" so I also can move my gun to some degree without moving my body.
