Jungle Wars: Island of Lingor
-)rStrangelove replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hah. Brings back those Falcon 1.0 memories. Got shot by 2 of these while trying to get away from a bombing run. Afterburner & heat seeking missiles = not good. :D -

Original GoldenEye Director "Console FPS don't innovate, happens only on PC"
-)rStrangelove replied to Zipper5's topic in OFFTOPIC
Imo consoles were invented to provide ppl with cheap & quick & easy entertainment, even to ppl that arent tech savy. Today it has shifted. Consoles cost a lot and require at least some amount of tech knowledge ( to use wlans, routers, gateways etc). Games are very pricey and the publishers are being paid extra $$$ if they delay the pc versions by a few months. Today consoles are just a trick to get more cash from gamers and those who think they are, thats all. -

/me crosses fingers for next WE :) -
Took a flight and a longer walk near the villages and the rivers (found the waterfall by accident) - its awesome. I agree with others, the visibility is perfectly balanced: its jungle, but you can still see movements in there. Thank you for this island! :) Only letdown are the random birds: too loud, too annoying. Are those even real birds? I remember similar sounds were used in Vietcong games, but i think those were VCs using bird sounds for signals. EEK EEK! :D

Uhm i think it's not because DICE is lazy but common sense. See it from DICE point of view: 1. you pay a fee for using a mil shooting range for several days 2. you rent several trucks to get all the recording equipment to the range 3. you organize specific timetables with collectors, reenactors and shooting clubs to have specific weapons / vehicles available for recording on the set 4. you do the recordings in the best quality to use as reference material. several mics for each sound, in various distances Lets say after doing all this you end up with great recording of a M4. You use the M4 sound in BC1 and BC2. Would you really do all this again to get a recording of another M4 that will just sound the same? An M4 sounds like the other, more or less.

Ghost Recon - Island Thunder campaign
-)rStrangelove replied to lightspeed_aust's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Nice! :) This belongs in ArmA2 Mission editing though. -
Sadly? BC2 has the best sounds ever recorded for a wargame imo.

Mod Insanity - Please help !!!
-)rStrangelove replied to gareththomasnz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : BI TOOLS - TROUBLESHOOTING
Look into the readme.txt or *.docs or *.pdf files that ship with the mods. What you're searching for are the classnames of units, vehicles, weapons and ammo types. Or just ask around on the forums of the modsite. As a last resort you can always dePBO a mission of that mod and open the mission.sqm with notepad to see what classnames were used. Setup a new mission in the editor, place some normal units and save it. Afterwards you open your mission.sqm with notepad and replace the normal classnames with those of the modunits you want to use. -

ARMA 2: Private Military Company (ARMA 2: PMC) DLC
-)rStrangelove replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Nice. PMC's are a great addition to the overall scenario. Congrats on further pushing realism. :) I just hope there wont be plenty of ammo available for that AA-12, it seems pretty overpowered as an INF weapon. Pricetag is ok when i see what other game companies sell as DLC. -
Magic Teleporter Disable plz, realism!?
-)rStrangelove replied to mr pedersen's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Holy virgin, finally somebody got the message. Teleport flagpoles totally destroyed Evolution (all transport vehicles are rotting away at the base) and Domination in their original form. They have been great concepts once but nowadays are just a shadow of what they used to be. I really hope the GITS Evo Vietnam doesnt suffer the same destiny. There is still hope. Vietnam without Huey transports isnt Vietnam imo. -
Any Laptops that are capable of Running ARMA2:OA, Know of any?
-)rStrangelove replied to Simpledestruction's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
A laptop cooler underneath would come in handy too, just in case. If the laptop gets too hot it will clock down your CPU resulting in lags. Happened in my Acer. -
It's horrible. :D haha Welcome to the forums. I'm joking. If you find MW2 too arcadish you're in the right place. ArmA2 is great, esp with addons and if you have a problem you can ask here and get a solution within 24 hours. Next question is what kind of environment you like 1. You buy ArmA2, you get a russian woodland & farmland environment 2. You buy ArmA2:Operation Arrowhead, you get Afghanistan-like env. It runs on its own. If you want both, you need to buy both. An installed ArmA2 + ArmA2:OA is what we call ArmA2:Combined Operations. Some community addons (free) require this btw. 3. If you want the full experience you go to www.sprocketidea.com and get the British Armed Forces DLC (about 9 Eur). You get British units/vehicles/weapons and a new desert environment. MP wise you should choose a ArmA2 clan which hosts a server in a place near you (good pings = smoother gameplay), join their server and stick to them. Clan servers mostly have passwords, so just ask on their forums and make some friends. Public servers tend to have more chaotic players, no teamplay guaranteed.

I read about you can set the rifle to single shot mode. Is that true or just in MP?

Amen to that. Oh, my Ruokangas Hellcat Artist #28 has arrived yesterday. Will post my pics later, but it can also still be seen in the shop here: http://www.ruokangas.com/?p=6136 :) Woooah!!! 1st impression i got: the playability is awesome and the wood sounds TOTALLY different than my Jackson. You can hear the bass waves going through the whole guitar body, whereas you hear no bass whatsoever in the Jackson. If i close my eyes i swear the Hellcat is indeed a bass guitar, its resonance is mindblowing.

DLed :) What addons are needed for the NAM Evo? Some of them were not used in Vietnam i think.... !? ;)
