  1. No problem, sorry if my first post was too sarcastic. Also, i'd try over-clocking that processor as much as you can before getting a new card. i overclocked my E8400 dual core from 3 gig to 4.2 and the difference was massive and I only have a 8800GTS (overclocked that a bit too.)
  2. True about the view distance, if people realize that the option is there to change it. By the way Dr. Eyeball, Sirex has been updating his post on page 12 with the stuff we have been finding from day to day in case you didn't spot the updates. I've added some of them to dev haven also. Still really enjoying the game although it has yet to really take off. We could do with something to make the community more aware of it if anyone has more ideas?

    rankings

    Its specific to the mission, you earn points by getting kills, repairing, reviving etc. It does not carry over from mission to mission, or sever to server. Once the mission ends or the server restarts and new mission all ranking is lost. however for some missions, if you leave the server, and return later when the same mission is still running (without restart) you may have retained your ranking, the mission remembers you. the only purpose of the ranking is to make sure that the people who get to use the unlocked tanks and planes etc. are the people who have earned them, and not people who join a mission several hours in and just take assets that are meant for others. It also serves to restrict usage to players who will most likely be able to handle the assets effectively, a brand new player will not yet be able to achieve the ranking to get that A10 because he is not yet good enough, the reasoning behind that one is the if he''s not good enough to get the ranking he'll probably just crash the jet.
  11. As you can see from Sirex's post above we were playing this a lot over the last two days and we are really enjoying it. One feature that i would like to suggest you change is the restriction on deployment of rally's with 20m of buildings. On maps like the docks this means that to use a rally it has to be deployed out in the open outside the town, as its pretty much impossible to deploy inside the town. Other than the BIS problems like the disastrous JIP system and general server lag on a server with enough juice to run 3-4 instances of any other game out there and yet struggle with one populated ArmA 2 server, its pure gold.

    Limit the amount of players that can join a multi-player server at one time. Once a server reaches a certain number of players it becomes attractive to players look for a server and we get a deluge of players connecting and the server lags for several minutes, runs for 20 seconds, then lags for a minute again, repeat until server is full. The server should have a queue system to stop 6-7 people connecting at one time and downloading the mission, it ruins the game for the 20 people actually on the server. Either that or drastically reduce the bandwidth usage of a connecting player and implement an automatic redirection to a separate URL to auto download the mission file. Its getting impossible to run a public server with a large number of players.

  16. We played this for about an hour last night, we only spotted it on the forums just as we were about to all quit and go to bed for the night but we played on a bit longer when we got it! Great job on the bug fixes, and i'd also like to add that: instantly when you spawn in the first thing we ALL noticed is that is is very smooth, with high FPS. I don't know what you did there but the performance was beautiful in comparison to any other multi-player mission I had played. We went on to play a round of the black forest mission and we had great fun. I can confirm that all of the bugs you said you fixed seem to be fixed. I didn't come across a single bug in the hour we played. Although, that said, we were playing for fun and not seriously looking for bugs, we will try to go through it with a fine tooth comb soon. Great work.

  21. Get yourself that card, and while your at it, look into over clocking the E8500, you should be able to run very comfortably at 4.0gig with air cooling. The bottleneck your system has at the moment is the ram by the way. I'd get another 2 gig.

    Battlefield 3 will be out in the fall mate. If you need shiney medals you could always make something out of tin foil if it makes you feel better. They have bigger problems that giving you a warm fuzzy feeling with shiny stars!

    PvP - Where do I find it?

    Your UK based right? Have a look at www.rustyinplaces.org , its a clan for over 21's (or we have a cadet membership 18-21 in special cases), run by a bunch of ex-services guys and its been stable as a rock for a few years now. ( I say that because one thing you'll learn about clans is that they tend not to stick around.) Or jump on the server and say I sent you and the members (they will be the ones with [RIP] before their names) will help you out.
