Any servers using this to help players keep up to date with allowed addons?

I have 4 gig of ram, with a dual boot system (XP 32 / Win7 64). As has been said XP isthe one I should use, however how much ram do you think I could assign to the RAMdisk? Is it worth my while to bother? I'm planning on buying another 4gig but I won't be able to afford it for a while yet.

Thats not a bottleneck mate, thats a pinhole. The rest of your system is the dog's, top notch stuff, but you really really need to get at least an 8800GTS 512 ( and that will still be the bottleneck on that system), you can pick one up for nearly nothing nowadays. If you have the cash, get the new ATI.

I notice your UK based? SBS, the team that make the AAS game have a UK based clan I believe. Also i think they have a league running that allows unaffiliated merc's to play, I may be confusing this with a CTF league though. Look into it. Also try the tactical gamer clan.

Yes I have, including the one where you backed down. I'm telling you a solution to your problem (your last post was complaining about their being "NO aas-servers AT ALL running") and, as others have done, reminding you how things get done re. servers and user made content (your last post had the line "so please stop developing and just let us PLAY."). Thats all. Do you not think that joining a clan or getting a group together to rent a server would solve your problem?

Here's a tip for you. Form a clan, put in some money, rent a server. or even join a clan and they may let you have some input into what runs on their servers. Then learn to make a mission, make the mission to way you want it and put it on the server you now partially own/rent. If you want people to continue to put their time into missions/addons for you to play/use, and their money into running servers for you to play on then don't..... 1, Go moaning to people who have actually paid for their servers that they are not playing the game modes you want to play on their servers. 2, Go moaning at mission makers because they are trying to develop missions that they want to play, for competitions that they will be running and playing in. 3, Go moaning about servers being empty. Servers don't just just spontaneously start up with 30 players joining at the same instance. If there is a server with a map you want to play loaded on the mission list, join the server, select the game and wait for people to join. 4, Go moaning about people changing their (note "their" implies their intellectual property) game types, especially when all you have to do is select the older version anyway.

Just taking the proverbial. I thought it was funny. It earned me a warning. I'm so misunderstood simply because I refuse to use smileys. Ah well.... Maybe we could have quick draw shootouts if you have the holster!

I also think this should be a high priority, we have to use Ventrillo on our servers and that really leaves the public players out of the loop.

We can host an event, perhaps this Saturday? i'll also be online tonight, from about 8 CET and will start a game on the new maps. Filter RIP to find our two servers, we will used the in game voip as it seems to be much improved since the new patch.

Sweet, cheers Dr eyeball, we had a blast on the docks match last Sunday. We're beginning to find that if we seed the server with 6-7 RIP guys we can fill the map. Keep up the good work.

We've been playing it regularly on our server this week, and are waiting for the 4th installment, i'm sure he's not finished yet, there is a lot of activity on the dev haven page!

The windows default defrag isn't very good, there are plenty of freeware options out there that do a better job, or even better yet get/buy perfectdisk 10, I have it and it works beautifully.

Have you changed the name of your arma2.exe to crysis or something?

Xeno has his servers running on 1.03 already, any hints xeno? We are trying to getting it running on our server.

I will attempt to fly the flag for devastation game again on our server, i haven't had much time to play ArmA the last few weeks, we are finding it very hard to fill the server when we run the game mode, and when we do fill it we seem to end up with a load of rambo's who don't want to play properly. Every man and his dog wants to be a sniper, or fly a chopper, with no interest in playing as an infantry squad, that goes for every game-mode in arma.... When they don't get it then they just move on. Perhaps we can organize events so that we all end up on one server at the same time to have a large number of players on one server who know what they are doing? Not locked or anything, just a night where all of us go play a game of devastation, if we can convert a 2-3 other players every-time by letting them see what a good game-mode it is then we are on the right track.

I'm not sure I understand, by this do you mean smaller incremmental "beta" patches as opposed to larger "full' patches?

I mean obviously they have spent so long working on it that it will be the final patch that will fix everything and make the game perfect. Yay......... Right?:p
