  1. Frontline is a PvP mod that brings the same structured teamwork orientated gameplay found in games such as Project Reality, Squad and the Tactical Battlefield mod back to Arma 3. The aim is to create a set of realistic game mechanics and systems that puts the responsibility on the players to play as a team to win. The majority of the features of the mod will be very familiar to players of the aforementioned games/mods. Roles and squads Commander features and command structure Rally points and forward outposts Weapon re-balance, smoke and particle rework Defensive structures construction Vehicles and assets become available at specific player numbers. Medical system Custom suppression effects Squad radar Spotting system Heavily modified and enforced TFAR version 3D Interaction (Easier door opening, ladders and more) Vehicle Maintenance Freakishly simple 2-clicks-from-vanilla-arma-to-being-screamed-at-by-your--squadleader launcher. Excellent performance relative to other game-modes that have large player numbers Smooth and polished interface and systems AI fighters only for when the server is waiting for actual players to join But why is it called Frontline? Because we fight on the Frontline! Gone are the days of fighting over arbitrary buildings and locations, now territory is king. You decide what locations are tactically relevant the whole battlefield is your playground. Push the Frontline by taking and holding ground, the team with the most territory bleeds the other of tickets, the more territory the faster the bleed. The Frontline constantly updates and flows with the shape of the battle forces the teams to play together, communicate and fight in a realistic manner. Flank enemy squads to cut them off from reinforcement and supply, probe for undefended gaps in the Frontline and breakthrough. Timelapse 40x speed of a battle (youtube) Typical reaction of a player seeing the frontline for the first time At the moment the mod is played in conjunction with either RHS or Iron Front mods . The only place to play it is on the server run by the development team (this will change as the player-base expands). The mod and it's dependencies are available on steam workshop. If you have any problems installing please use the launcher we made. It's idiot proof. The steam workshop is there because people wanted it, and it works just fine, but we will only support/help people installing with the launcher. Details of the launcher in the second post of this thread and you can get it on the website. The server also uses CUP terrains, Kunduz and some custom terrains that are all in the mod pack delivered by the launcher. Teamspeak is mandatory because of the mod-integrated Task Force Radio, but even if you don't have TS, the launcher will help you install teamspeak, take care of all the TFR plugins, open the frontline teamspeak, put you in the right channel, open TrackIR if you have it, launch Arma, put you into the server, and make you a nice cup of tea just the way you like it.) We have a website here frontline-mod.com but nearly all interaction with/between the community is on the discord On the discord we discuss feedback, trash-talk and organize events and playing times. We play at specific times, we don't yet have the player-base to have spontaneous games so we set specific game nights to get bigger games with more players and combined assets unlocked. So yes the server is empty most of the time, and no that does not mean the mod is dead. Come to the discord to find the time of the next fight, but right now it is every Wednesday (RHS), Saturday (RHS) and Sunday (Iron Front) at 1800GMT. Some background on the development: The mod has been in development for several years now, starting with a sub-section of the dev team that developed Tactical Battlefield. The SQF coding is built on top of the framework made by the AAW team. The tech behind the Frontline itself is something entirely unique to this mod. A whole Python extension framework has been built from scratch just to be able to execute our Python code on the server that takes care of "capturing" the terrain and computes a realistic frontline based on the situation in the AO. On a side note: we're quite proud of how we implemented it. In fact, we're so proud of our ingenious tricks used that we're currently (early 2018) going to Python conferences and giving talks about the gamemode. Its pretty cool stuff and as the bonus of fantastic performance.

  11. Hi, I have question, we wish to force player on our server to be on TFR an in our teamspeak, such that they would be given some kind black screen if they were not on TFR. Is it possible to do this with a script in a mission file (as opposed to using a mod to do it)

    Fatigue Feedback (dev branch)

Just had a look at the new stamina, it seems you guys are just caving to the casual life and wasteland players big time on this. Let them mod the stamina if they want to, this new version should NOT be the default.
  13. Only limited optimization this time around I'm afraid gentlemen. The team is still very short on code monkeys, and that is a horrible, horrible, job to do.. Our official server was delayed in getting updated to the new patch, but it has been done now. As far as we know TacBF 3.10.1 is functioning just fine with the new patch and the new 3.11 should be out soon as Doc said.
  14. Me too, last thing I got on sproket was Arma 2 and I did it through paypal so I son't think they even have my CC details, even though the receipt says I used a CC.
  15. Rusty In Places is a multi-national, multi-gaming, competitive clan. With the event of our 2 Year Anniversary we have surpassed the lifespan of many other clans. A great number of our members have come into RIP due to the demise of their gaming associations, regrettable in itself, however they have come looking for the stability and camaraderie that exists in RIP. The Clan was formed in December 2006, and was founded by a group of 12 friends, mainly European, with all the skillsets required to get great servers up and running quickly. The public engaged in the servers, and enjoying the way that they were run and adminned quickly began putting in application posts in our forums. RIP expanded exponentially, at great speed, both in Europe and the United States. More servers were allocated as the ranks grew, and by mid 2007 we were running a colossal 20 gaming servers. These included Medal Of Honour (Pacific Assault), Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, Call of Duty 2, And Counter Strike Source, all on RIP dedicated server boxes. As the clan expanded so did the server listing, and we have run every major game release since then, ranging from Call Of Duty 4 and World at War, through Team Fortress 2, Live for Speed, Guild Wars, EVE Online, and a plethora of other titles. Currently the majority of our servers are running a variant of ArmA, ArmA 2 Call Of Duty4/5, Project Reality, or Battlefield 2142. However, we also have other servers running Battlefield 2, Counter Strike Source, Left For Dead, and Team Fortress 2, with dedicated EVE Channel within Ventrilo. We are always abreast of the latest developments in the gaming community, and are constantly dynamic in our server setup, according to the wants of the members. The Clan is always willing to accept new members. We have an entire section, namely the ITG (Initial Training Group), who will deal with any applications and be a point of reference for anyone wishing to join the clan. Whether it is your first foray into Internet Gaming or whether you are a hardened elitist, RIP can offer you everything that you will ever need in a Clan. The people are welcoming and friendly, the forums are jovial and lively, the advice that can be given on software / hardware issues is second to none, and Friday nights, should you be of that persuasion, offer some of the best comedy gaming nights you could ever hope for, washed down with whatever your particular poison is. There are internal competitions, based within certain games, though aside from the main format of game play, in the form of Fight Club. We are active in external Leagues, such as ClanBase and TWL, and offer regular competition slots for those wishing to participate. We have elite competition teams, whose sole purpose is to increase the skillsets of the players and work within tight knit squads. We have an Academy section, where you can learn new and advanced skills in your chosen game from any one of a number of experts. Above all we have secured a place in this digital age where likeminded people get together and have fun. The camaraderie and friendship is what makes RIP one of the best places to be for a total gaming experience. We will continue to grow, due to the structure we have and the democracy that exists. Once you join RIP very few people don’t enjoy their time. If you feel that your current home or lack of one is driving you to despair, contact any one of the Command Staff, by visiting the Roster and dropping them a PM. We can perhaps give you what you want and what you need to enjoy your gaming experience to the full. Through the hard work and dedication of its members RIP has grown into what it has today. People have given up their own spare time, gaming time, to continue to build this great clan of friends. We would like to extend our thanks to all that have participated in this growth, with some special mentions going out to the members we have lost through unconnected issues, you know who you are. Frequently Asked Questions 1. Family Members 2. Do I need to donate to join the Clan? 3. Do I need to commit to anything? Family Members Although the [RIP] Clan insists on members being 21 years old or more, we do have an active family membership. The family members are children or relatives of full members. In our voice servers we separate family members from full members. This is both to protect our family members from some of the more colourful language of the members and to remove any chance of the family members annoying the adults. So if you are thinking of joining and want to bring your kids or relatives with you, then we might be what you are looking for. * to be a full member of [RIP] you must be aged 21 and over, no upperlimit * all other members younger than 21 will be considered family members. Family members: * will use only the family channel in ventrilo and the Fight Club and Academy channels when engaged in such activities. No other channels are permitted * may not represent the clan in external fights. Do I need to donate to join the Clan? You will realise that servers do cost money to provide and it is only through donations that we are able to keep the servers available. Members donate a minumum of £5 per month to help keep things running. Considering the amount of fun we have that is a very small price to pay. If you are unable, as opposed to unwilling, to contribute you should bring this to the attention of your platoon leader. We are aiming for 100% of members who can contribute to do so, none of our members wish to pay for freeloaders. Recruits are exempt from donating during their first month probation period, of course we won't stop anyone who wants to donate before one month! Family members do not donate. Do I need to commit to anything? [RIP] is a competitive clan. We organise league competitions within the clan and compete with other clans. Our experience has been that the whole gaming experience is enhance when competing. To be part of a competitive team you would be expected to show up for practice, usually around one hour per week and to show up for matches on a regular basis. Having said that, we know that it is not always possible to comit the time needed to practice and compete and for that reason we have Territorial Army platoons. If at you dont want to commit to set times each week a TA platoon may be what you need. TA platoons will be offered the chance to take part in internal competitions, but there is no expectation that you have to turn up. To continue to be considered as a member of [RIP] you do need to make one post in our forums each month. Failure to do so will result in you being posted as missing in action. After a further month you will be removed from the clan. Whatever your status within the clan we rely on donations. New recruits are not expected to contribute during their probationary month. However, once you are a full member we would expect you to donate to the upkeep of the servers. Interested ArmA players are invited to visit the servers (filter [RIP] ) and experience for yourself the well run, well admined servers. Also visit www.rustyinplaces.org and have a look around the forums and say hi in the public section.
  16. William, great job with this tool, I'm still getting the hang of it but so far its been a blast. Literally. Anyone got any nice missions they have put together that they would like to share? Is there any repository of missions?
  17. Hi Sick. Great campaign, after a few teething problems I'm playing through it and enjoying it. One thing which bothers me, bodies seem to disappear (melt into the ground) for no apparent reason. Some do, some don't. Any idea why? Have you scripted it this way.
  18. Thanks for the reply kklownboy, I think i'm using 10.9 with a hot fix. As for my ingame specs I can run everything on low, or everything on very high, either way my frame rate is always pretty, but I always have this stuttering and slow loading textures and models. I'll switch to 10.12a later this evening. Do you know anything about the customized drivers? I've also made some alterations to my config file (max_frames_ahead etc.) but I'm not at home right now so I can't tell you what I changed them to.
  19. Hmmmm... I've been trying to make sense of the last few pages. The Modded driver's thing kind of threw me of the sent a bit. I've got a 4870x2, (full specs in my sig) running on W7 64bit. Anybody out there recommend a driver that works well with a setup similar to mine? Frame rate is not a problem, its stuttering and lod problems that make the game tough to play for me.
  20. Any chance you could point Suma to this thread Dwarden? I'm having this issue too. Frame rate is fine, but when I move the mouse I get jumps at irregular intervals, it gets worse when I use a scope I think.
  21. I was using 10.4 until last night when I decided to upgrade to the newest (10.9) and experienced this flashing. Has anybody experienced this with any card other than the 4870X2? So from reading this thread I gather I should firstly use 10.9a, second put the HDR to at least 16. Also, since we're all here, anyone else find anything that got them extra performance on the 4870X2? By the way, where can I find the 10.9a drivers?
  22. I agree, has anyone read though the thread in enough detail to summarize? It would save people an awful lot of time.

    Update FaceTrackNoIR

Guys, I'm sure you have taken this into consideration already. But.... I haven't tried it yet, but I have been watching the thread and i've seen some posts mentioning it works better with natural light or infrared lights. It occured to me that for most people using artificial light, artificial light would be in the form of light from light bulbs or florescent tubes etc. These will be emitting light with fluctuations of 50 hertz (in europe), and this may interfere. It may be that the reason people think the natural light and infrared(=LED's) work better is because there is no high frequency fluctuations of the light.

    ArmaHolic ArmA 2 Optimization

I just got a 4870x2 to replace my 8800GTS (G92). Its all going well so far, but I haven't done any tweaking yet, such as CCC/ATI tray tools settings or config file settings yet. There doesn't seem to be a thread comparable to the "Nvidia owners read here" thread for ATI cards. Can someone who has an ATI or even a 4870x2 who has already optimized give me a quick overview of what worked for them?
  25. I wonder will any mission makers step up to the mark and make a mission based in The Congo, chad, Liberia, or Lebanon?
