The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Announcement Trailer
Daniel replied to jblackrupert's topic in OFFTOPIC
Ahh, this looks good. :) -
Mm, gotta love cost effective carcinogens. So, are we looking at this from what's acceptable or from the perspective of an accountant?

Iron Front - Liberation 1944, new WW2 game on A2:OA engine
Daniel replied to Choki's topic in IRON FRONT: LIBERATION 1944 - GENERAL
Those Stukas look incredible! As does the terrain! Looking forward to this. :) -
No music? How are we supposed to feel any sort of nostalgia ten years down the line if there's no music?! :p That Su-50 is sexy, there should definitely be a place for it in Arma 3. It's already packing the digi-cam.

You have to balance the merits of weaponised DU against the legacy of cases of Gulf War Syndrome, outbreaks of lymphoma and increase in birth defects in areas where it saw heavy use. I don't really see an issue in ship-borne weapons, but it does seem irresponsible to stock these sort of weapons for conflicts that break out in inhabited areas. Of course, the alternative metals don't sound much nicer.

Soundgarden - Superunknown. The sort of album I can listen to without skipping a track.
-
Now that is a lot more like it.

I can't believe they had the cheek to ask for it back! "Oh, you caught us spying on you? Very sorry old chap. Don't suppose we could, er, have our multi-million dollar spy plane back then? Pretty please?"
-
Wow, looks like they're really going for it. Should be a treat!

One page too late dude! Still awesome though.
-
That is amazing. :D

Again, where's the suspense? How on earth can you make a guy with a bomb strapped to his chest, being thrown to his death from his own office look blase? :p Oh, Ubi... My favourite youtube comment so far.
-
Yeah, that sounds pretty stupid. There's just no need for DLC in RTS games. Keep it to proper expansion packs, like Zero Hour. Intrigued to see how Frostbite 2 works out for this.
-
Certainly a possibility mrcash, hadn't considered that. Wouldn't put it past them.
-
Yeah, pretty sure that'll be in on express delivery to Russia and/or China. :p "Taking over control" of the UAV sounds the least plausible, just because it sounds like something UAV designers should be able to make very difficult without the correct tools. Also, just because there's no obvious damage doesn't mean it wasn't brought down aggressively. I'd bet it was a either some sort of failure or some act of electronic warfare on Iran's part.
-
This also. We do need stoppages and overheating barrels, for their tactical implications, not just to give the player another set of keys to learn. The OP's suggestion is definitely in mod territory.
-
Throw in some OFP-esque scores played by a real orchestra for ambient music and travelling, that'd make me happy. Make sure any music dies away when the action kicks off. That's always a nice break from the norm.

C) Conspiracy: Russia/China are using Iran as an excuse to to test electronic warfare against US drones.

Red Cross wants war themed video games to abide by Geneva Conventions.
Daniel replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in OFFTOPIC
I totally agree in principle, i'd like official Arma missions to be as true to life as possible. It adds to immersion and can be a gaming mechanic if you have to think twice before engaging or using high yield ordnance. That being said, you're still going to get people uploading videos to youtube of fifty civilians being blown up by a satchel charge. I don't think that should be taken as representative of the game, especially not by an institute like the Red Cross. -

How about we all act like adults and understand that people are capable of doing stupid things with anything. It's all fictitious messing around, it's all harmless. -

It's sad when well respected and incredibly important institutions say bat shit insane things like this. -

Daniel replied to purepassion's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Nice pics! That's probably very similar to what the Astute class will use. I was purely referring to actually transferring on and off the sub.
