Stunning work, really looks like your getting the most out of what can be portrayed in ArmA. Loving the wear and tear. Looking forward to these. Â

    Chammys Sound Mod

?! It's a sound mod! It just changes sounds. You can survive without an update. Build a few missions or something.

    Projekt Gardinas Island

Does anyone know a good site for DEMs of England or even Europe? I found the area I'm after with accurate 5m grids, but for over 2000 pounds... Â

Ask a moderator about the forum and the rules

The stupidity of people posting in that thread astounds me. My sympathies to Dslyecxi. Cool videos by the way.

    Unit cohesion and game dynamics

Just ignoring real life things like perception of your surroundings for a second, and focusing on whats possible in OFP/ArmA: Say you want to move a section of 8 men across a given battlefield. Split them into 2 fireteams of 4. The section still moves as one, seperate to other sections in the platoon (depending on the size of the force), but can flank, bound and fall back as a pair. Get squad members to buddy up. The NCO with the medic, gunners and AT with their ammo bearers, that sort of thing. That way, everyone has someone watching out for them. The idea of getting people to watch each others backs is very important, especially given your reduced perception in ArmA as opposed to real life. Moving as pairs, either as buddys, fireteams, sections, etc is extremely flexible and efficient. More important than the formation of the men itself. In my humble armchair general opinion. Â

Volume of fire and game dynamics

Interesting point about seeing where your bullets land.

    Unit cohesion and game dynamics

Absolutely. The only thing is, working as a team might not always the best option in ArmA, but it's always the most fun. Which is why I try to make and play scenarios that benefit fireteams.

    Unit cohesion and game dynamics

Agreed. If a coop map doesnt have respawn, you really give a crap about getting shot. Especially if it means you're going to have to sit out for the next hour or so. Combat drill training with fireteams and sections helps knit you together too. Having an NCO barking orders at you always helps. And you need to fight a like minded force. Not so much tactically but in a 'what they want to get out of the game' sort of sense.

    Operation Flashpoint 2 officially announced

I don't expect to see much un-pre-rendered stuff until much closer to the release date. Looks awesome none-the-less.

Arma mission makers, how much do you play?

I just polished off a mission yesterday from months ago and took it for a spin on the server. It's nice if the mission isn't still fresh in your mind from building it. "Oh sorry, forgot about that guy on the roof that just nailed you both in the back..."
  13. Running over Anjou villages and fields at sunrise with slight snowfall as British infantry was possibly the coolest part of OFP. It just oozed atmosphere. I like the idea of having factions that are balanced to an extent. So that generally means WW2, Cold War era for me.

    Dear BI Studio...

Just because you like it, doesn't mean anyone else will. I'm sure you're very keen and well informed and I'm bet young ladies just love to hear you talk about it at parties, but I think this has a minority interest at best. Huh?

Beautiful! Good luck developing it. Loved your OFP stuff, good to see you getting stuck into ArmA.

    The Iraq thread 4

Fully agree with Baddo. While the current conflicts are serious, they would be dwarfed if two conventional forces clashed in the future. Iraq will blow over in time, the Middle East may well be in turmoil for some time to come. But high quality, expensive, conventional weapons systems such as CVF and Eurofighter will be essential if conventional war ever breaks out.
  19. By the looks of it, the screens were taken with settings pretty low. I'd try em about before judging them. EDIT: Sorry, just read your whole post. Â EDIT2: Although the textures and models could obviously be improved, the weapons play quite nicely. Looking forward to more IDF releases.

If we get anything from Barrow-in-Furness docks I'll be a very happy bunny indeed.

    Grass (especially) and other settings

Most of my missions have grass turned off, it'd be a shame to not otherwise be able to use the really detailed Northern areas.

    CBF Shipbuilding

Great stuff! Got any modern Royal Navy stuff planned? Would love to see Astute, Daring and CVF in the water.
  23. Damn good addon this, very impressed. Looking forward to future versions. EDIT: Most of the ladders worked for me... Love the way it feels like theres a huge rig above you on the lower gantries.

    Fog is gone!!!

Ha, why the hell is everyone so suspicious? Why on earth would anyone make up a thread about a driver that doesn't actually work?! It's not the poor guy's fault if it doesnt work for you. This thread was made with the intention of helping you out here.
