    Knife proposal

Exactly. Personally I think FLIR has the capacity to ruin games much more than knives or bayonets. But that's not an issue, because I can choose to play missions that don't utilise FLIR. Are FLIR or bayonets unrealistic? No, but their inclusion is a matter of taste. The introduction of bayonets would neither be unrealistic nor would it force anyone to use them.

    Change Faction Name

Indeed, akin to German and CZ. I think it's a new direction for incorporating more BLUFOR nations as opposed to forces within nations.

    War with Iran.

I think it was more use of hyperbole to demonstrate carriers aren't fortresses...

    War with Iran.

A bit offtopic, but are you really trying to say nothing short of a nuke would sink a modern carrier? Carriers operate in carrier groups with extensive anti-aircraft and anti-submarine escorts for the sole reason that they are extremely vulnerable. Real life doesn't play out in line with what the specifications dictate. A lucky torpedo, bomb or anti-ship missile that made it through the counter-measures and AA screen could hit the magazine or deck munitions and boom. There's a good section of your twin-reactor powered carrier up in smoke. Soon to be followed by the rest of it depending on the extent of the damage and the crews ability to contain the blaze.

    War with Iran.

No need to jump on the tiniest things. I'm sure they don't allow smoking on flight decks for a similar reason. On the topic of attacking reactors: You really do not want to be attacking sites containing nuclear fuel. I thought it was insane of Israel to attack Iran's reactors until I read that they were in the early stages of construction. Fuelling reactors is dangerous enough without high explosives mixed in... If there were to be future airstrikes, they'd have to have their intel 100%. I'm with Walker on that one. And as has been mentioned, Chernobyl wasn't even the worst case scenario in its own event. You're right in that there wouldn't be a nuclear explosion. There would however be potential for breach of containment, which would spell an extremely bad day for whoever happens to live downwind.
  6. SNKMAN Thanks, that's good to hear. Makes things simpler. :)

    Military Discussion Thread

@SK Sentry Robot Blimey, someone's been playing too much Metal Gear. And then actually gone and made it...
  8. SNKMAN Does the AI still adhere to the server config values for weapon accuracy? Or does GL4 impose its own values? Or is it a mix?

    War with Iran.

I thought we were talking Chinese dedicated anti-ship missiles and how many Iran might possess? I agree, if it's one with a high speed second stage warhead, such a threat could be very difficult to defeat. Of course it would depend on the current level of counter-measure and counter-missile systems and whether the US are willing to take the risk. I think the point Baff1 was making was that we can't simply rely on Special Forces to take out their missiles, since we failed to take out all of Iraq's Scuds in the first Gulf War, which, coupled with botched Patriot systems still resulted in allied casualties despite the Scud's inaccuracies. That said, I don't think there's a US/Iran conflict on the horizon. I don't think either side want that.

Ah man, you missed out on the PUKF Bayonets then. There was *nothing* as good as getting a bayonet kill. While obviously it wasn't wise to get into that sort of situation, sticking the AI while your buddies fought for their virtual lived was utterly awesome. Even the order to fix bayonets got the blood pumping. Sniping the enemy with the latest 50cal or lighting the enemy up with spec op lasers just doesn't come close.

    Information.

Lack of information doesn't mean there's nothing new to say. It makes little sense for BIS to be pushing two very different games at the same time. BIS has a nice little cash cow in Arrowhead, they should continue working quietly on Carrier Command until the Arrowhead buzz dies down. That way they'll have a whole wealth of media and info with which to push Carrier Command when they need to start building up a hype.

    Knife proposal

Ahhhh... Drop the knife crap, we should be trying to convince BIS to work bayonets into the engine, especially if they're considering a UK expansion.
  13. Ditto, especially after trying the Typhoon! It'll be nice to share the workload in the Tornados too.

We prefer the term "you get what you're given" brigade. Also: Funny that eh...
  15. That's good to hear. I'm familiar with Mando stuff and wasn't sure what RKSL had planned.
  16. Yeah, i'd rather them not be guided either. I suppose there's too many versions to ask for an "AI variant". :P Other than that, absolutely loving this aircraft, hope Mando adds compatibility at some point.
  17. Well that's some good news. Exams out the way just in time too, thanks Rock and co!

    Information.

Yes, Arrowhead is out. BIS are not now going to forget about it as most other companies would. They're going to improve it until it's at an acceptable level, hopefully with some additional free content as they've done in the past. We don't care if whether you like ArmA or not. The bottom line is there will be news when BIS decide to shift their attention back to Carrier Command. No point whining in the mean time.
  19. Daniel

What's the sign you play too much ArmA?

Maths exam in 4 hours. Time to get the hell off the BIS forums...

    Information.

Pretty sure they'll be concentrating on Arrowhead for the time being. ;) Give it another couple of months and they'll probably shift their focus back to Carrier Command.

    WarFX Particles

I don't think some of you guys should take Fintroll quite as seriously as you do. Optical Snare, shame to hear you're packing up mate, best of luck in the future! Hopefully someone else will take the lead or at least get your stuff working in OA (with permission of course).
  22. Daniel

    Co-pilots would be nice.

Oh I know, ACE have done it for ArmA1 and 2. I just think it would make sense to have it straight out the box.
  23. Awesome. Though you missed the Autumn chapter (posted Summer twice).

    Small arms aiming realism

By default, you can also use Numpad 0 and Numpad + to use ironsights or zoom respectively, or you could remap the controls. I believe double tapping right mouse changes to ironsights while simply holding it zooms. It's hard to remember when not in game.

Oh, my apologies, I thought you meant red dot sights rather than crosshairs.
