I was planning on doing a vid and I came across the notion that there are no construction vehicles that could be used for the removal of corpses in any massive way, so I was wondering if there existed any modern day armored recovery vehicles that could be up to the task?

Talk about "blowing a tire", deanosbeano!! Couldn't agree more with you!!

Well, if I may say so, I think the worst enemy any country could have would be the U.S., not Russia - Russia isn't as expansionist with regards to the boundary of its influence, as the U.S. And to set the record straight, Stalin wasn't in Hitler's league... I agree, Stalin was even worse. German soldiers preferred to surrender to the western allied forces rather than to the soviet forces. I suggest you inform yourself about the reasons for that. It is a fact that is only too many times forgotten.

I'll say, it's gonna be a hit... and we've yet to try out the Nod side of it... Oh, and there seems to be an FPS underway too, using the Crysis engine, based in the C&C3TW timeline, same as C&C Renegade was based on the original Command 'n' Conquer RTS... Can't wait for that one!

Modern Armored Recovery Vehicles?
-ZG-BUZZARD replied to -ZG-BUZZARD's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Miles Teg, would you consider building some "digging" machines which could be used somehow? Surely they would be useful to be present in CQB situations since there's much reconstruction and demolition work to be done - and although there's "body dragging" already possible in OFP through scripting, I wouldn't really be showing that (even with zombie corpses that would be a bit too tasteless... ) - their presence would only be indicating that that would be the way that the corpses would be disposed of, more in the likes of biochemical hazard than normal corpses, due to the fear of infection etc. -

Well, I'm no modder but I was looking for something like this backfiller... It wouldn't have to be animated in any way except for driving around... Maybe the BIS tractor could be modified as to look somehow like it? If I didn't suck completely at moddeling etc, I'd do it myself... Edit: Anybody know if this was ever released or something like it? Screenie from Ofp.info, see the news here (damn it's so old and I've never seen it before...). -
I bet it's named BRR because it gets very cold wherever it gets deployed... Nice BTR, guys! No need to shame yourselves for the model, one can always be so "iffish" about them, just call it the "BTR-80 NSA Custom" (NSA = North Sahrani Army). Edit: I didn't know you'd released a car, where can I get it?

Apparently, as far as willpower goes, only Russia wants the Soviet Union back (and maybe Bielorussia). But there are many countries out there that belonged to the Soviet Union who I bet will say: "Never again!" with regards to any Soviet Union. So it might turn out to be a small Soviet Union (compared to what it was in the past)...

@ Commando84: If any country would ever be "bombed back into the stone age" it would have had to have been Afghanistan after 9-11 - actually I'm still surprised that the U.S. didn't nuke it into the ground... Its economy is mostly drugs, the warlords don't want peace no matter who's in the government, so not too much would have been lost... @ agamoth: The U.S. went in against almost the entire world's oppinion - except for the british ally which had to follow its master by the leash... So I don't think lack of support would be an issue that would make the U.S. think twice about invading Iran if it wanted to do so... Back on topic, one plausible conflict could be China - Russia, if China decided it would like to have any resources the russians have, and China has fitter armed forces than Russia I think... But then again, it would remain to be seen which one would be more ruthless...

Is that a conversion from Philcommando's Bikini Babes pack, Corkey?

Modern Armored Recovery Vehicles?

Which project is that? If you have construction equipment, I'd be more interested in that than an Armored Recovery Vehicle... Do you have any pix of your stuff? Edit: The only thing I'm sure to be featuring in the vid is Mapfact's empty dumptruck Ural, which seems to be ok... But some other construction vehicles (diggers?) would be very nice to have... -
"Who's going to put everything together?" Yeah, good question, who?
-
I wouldn't go so far as to say "never", one doesn't know what the future might bring, with quantum computing power etc... And a good graphics card will at least enable you to play with nice frame-rates at high resolution (1600 x 1200), something not all weak graphic cards are able to pull off.

I think someone (could it have been Sebastian? I don't remember, and I don't have the pack with me) released a pack of unfinished addons, and I think it contains some stuff related to the alien movie, though I don't recall if exactly the APC was one of the models... But be sure to ask nephilim about it, she's the one who has committed most work in the OFP community towards making alien stuff...

Modern Armored Recovery Vehicles?
-ZG-BUZZARD replied to -ZG-BUZZARD's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I know that the most probable SOP for the mortuary department of the armed forces is to have soldiers pack up corpses and load them into trucks but since I was planning on using zombie corpses the whole "infection paranoia" would come into scene and no one would feel bad for getting rid of zombies with such construction vehicles I guess... Edit: I don't mean them to be actually functional, just need something to show that the assets are being driven on to the scene... -
Most people have upgraded their PCs just to play this game better, and keep in mind that there is not yet any PC available AFAIK that will play OFP with everything maxed out and have a picture-perfect handling without lag with OFP... and this is more than 5 years after the game was first released... And ArmA is just starting, so...you get the picture...
-
I understand you clearly, Ironsight... My thoughts were just on the line of, since you're going to be doing it for ArmA, and since all the stuff you've done so far works for OFP, maybe you could help keeping OFP alive just a little longer? Yeah, I know, you must be thinking: "This guy just wants to keep OFP alive...", and I have no problem admitting that! And, from what I've seen from still a couple of other modders, thankfully I'm not alone... Edit: At least no one can blame me for not trying...

I must admit that I find it most amusing that "Second Life" has taken a sort of life of its own - no other "virtuality" has ever had that many maintained elements of real life in it! P.S.: I mean that in a pure sense of MMORPG "virtualities" - wether "Second Life" is a good or bad MMORPG is besides the point I was making...
-
Pardon me, but nothing that I have seen so far from your mod looks even a bit "assed", it all looks great and I bet it works accordingly! And you know, it's just the liberty of mixing stuff all up that makes OFP unique in terms of games - you can mix your mission cocktail together from a large variety of ingredients, something not possible with other games. It was in that spirit that I was asking you to release it, but I guess I'll have to feel sorry to have to wait for ArmA for your great stuff...
-
Apparently, it's a fact, yes, after applying the 1.96 patch one doesn't need to have the disk in the drive anymore, and I'm glad about it - now I can listen to audio CD's whilst I'm playing OFP!
-
Hellfish6, would you consider releasing whatever you got as an "independent" release, like Vektorboson did with the vehicle pack? I mean, it would be a terrible waste of effort if it wouldn't get out, and join the ranks of mods that never were, for OFP... Especially since what you did looks great, never mind what Ironsight said that mission-wise that it wouldn't be useful stuff, you never know!!!

There is also a very nice collection of Littlebirds - not all of them are "real", being from the AirWolf Mod, but you can find some nice civilian Littlebirds in it - you can find it here
-
Well, Luckylewis, it was more or less a nice video, though I really would like to know why you devote so much time to the mountain range in the prologue... and the pauses where there is no image I think they're a bit too long... Other than that one could criticize the military strategies depicted, but oh well, one has to take it in stride for the sakes of creativity and "what if"... Other than that, nice movie! Keep 'em coming!
-
I've once seen a pic of a Chapparral, but it hasn't been released yet, unfortunately...

You can find some armed, Vietnam-era Littlebirds from CSJ here (no other addons required) . Also, for a simple transport MH-6J, look here (also no other addons required).
