Quantum physics says goodbye to reality

As far as time goes, it is something that passes and goes on, inexorably, of course the perception of time may be different in different circumstances, but it will always go forward. If time stood still, everything else would also stand still. I mean, if time stood ABSOLUTELY still, wouldn't even advance by one nanosecond. The "you could see yourself depart in the mirror" theory is false because you cannot be in two places AT THE EXACT same time - you could travel fast between two places and appear to be at two places at the same time, but you can not be at two places at the PRECISE same time. The same mechanism also prevents "time-travelling". One can therefore not go back in time, it's just not possible. One may go everywhere without taking time, but one cannot go BACK in time, because time moves forward, always. Remember, Luke... The Force will be with you... Always.

DAMN! GRRRRRR!!! Sorry, should have checked it... Thankfully there's more than one site where to get addons from, although they're getting scarcer... Found one link, though you'll have to register to get it, it's in a pack... Link to good old OFPNEWS Addon...

    'Mechs, Anyone?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we'll be able to have mechs performing martial arts moves, perhaps not any melee combat at all, so to have Gundam without said actions, is kinda detracting... I'd rather go for something that is known to be weapons-only... Like the Wanzers made for OFP...

    'Mechs, Anyone?

In terms of mech games MW2 Mercs was my first contact and I liked it alot, and it came with a nice extensive library and, AFAIK, the largest number of mechs one could pilot in a Mechwarrior game so far... But honestly, after playing MW3 Gold, I just can't go back to MW2 Merc's crappy graphics...

    'Mechs, Anyone?

Yeah, I know, I have MW3 Gold (which is MW3 + Pirate's Moon)... But strangely, Pirate's Moon has no Intro Video... Â

    Desert Island

Sorta like Zwadar's OFP Desert Everon? Only with palm trees still present, right?

Yeah, that was a cool addon, though I must say I preferred the Dragonfly addon... It's a little more stable than the jetpack...

Quantum physics says goodbye to reality

@ wex-q: Space may not change but time goes by continuously - there is no stopping it. Someone may one day be able to travel so fast as to make time irrelevant with regards to space, because for now it always takes time to get from point A to point B, but time will still always go forward in a continuous, unstoppable fashion. @ Spokesperson: If there is a sound-recording device to capture sound then it will capture sound - unless you'll say that it isn't sound that it captures until someone hears it. Then again, try going into space with a lot of people - you won't be hearing any sound even if you're shouting in your oxygen bubble - the person in the oxygen bubble next to you, separated from yours by vacuum won't hear a thing! So, it takes more than ears and brains for there to be sound...

    'Mechs, Anyone?

I'll have to reinstall MW3Gold again just to see if the Atlas even has enough jump jet capability to be able to pull off "stunts"... at least in MW3 one could still pack anything anywhere in the mech customization section... But I do shudder at the power output needed to have a 100-ton mech be propelled vertically into the air... No, Mechs are definitely not realistic, but they're fun, and that's what this is all about! @ KaiserPanda - the only Atlas I've seen in video action actually blew up...

    Armed Assault videos

Looked more like a couple of bikers taking a stroll in a country joyride, rather than a race - never seen a race with people in the backseat... Of course, the civvie crew won because they weren't carrying weapons and ammo so they were lighter, I guess... For races the drivers should carry protective helmets!

    BI Forum Reconnaissance Game

Kinda looks like an MBT-70. though the turret seems too small...
  13. Hey granQ, this little addon of yours got some print time - saw a little feature of it in this month's "Micro Simulateur" magazine... didn't read the text cause I was in a hurry at the airport, but when I saw it I just knew I had to give you a heads-up! Cheers!

    Newbee cant manage Stryker Gun

The regular stryker ONLY has a 'coax' machinegun. It's a browning 50. It's a good vehicles. You can hit behind stuff and shoot over obstacles without exposing a mm of the hull. Coax is colloquial slang for 'coaxial'. How can a 'coax' gun be coaxial to itself, if it is the primary armament? Ergo the quotes. shinRaiden is right on that one - you just can't use the word "coax", quotes or no quotes, when referring to a vehicle's main armament. You could say "coax" if it would refer to a secondary armament of a vehicle (that would also be used for some purpouse with regards to the main armament, as in target ranging/ballistics/whatever). Just my 0,02€...

    'Mechs, Anyone?

Macross was so famous even Transformers "stole" the design making a model of the VF-1 (the autobot "Jetfire") which actually never made it into the series - though its popularity prompted the makers of the series to introduce something representative, although I do not think that "Skyfire" had any resemblance to the Macross model... As for having something transforming: I really don't think that'll be possible, though who knows... @ KaiserPanda: I only proposed an integration of the Macross storyline with BattleTech to justify the presence of the Macross models in BattleTech - without any integration, I sincerely can't consider the makers of BattleTech thought any other way than: "Hey, we ran out of creativity, but we need some more models - hmmm, look at this stuff, it's popular, so let's copy it..." It's a cheap shot to take advantage of someone else's success instead of trying a bit harder to achieve it by one's own means...

    'Mechs, Anyone?

Well, all legal matters set aside, I think it's pretty lame for anybody to copy other stuff, from an intellectual point of view, it rather demonstrates lazyness or lack of imagination. If Battletech had copied the Macross designs and somehow integrated the storylines, that would just have been awesome... But I guess it's an option for any fan-mods, since Battletech took the "liberty" of using designs already created for other series (Macross being the main example). Also, for those that don't know it, there was a VF-1S released already for OFP, although IMHO it is not on par with the Wanzers etc in terms of quality. Still, you can check it out on OFP.info here.

    ArmA US Demo Coop Mission...

I guess I've still got some "Resistance" to wait until I can't bear it anymore - alas the Demo still seems to have players so... Talking about the tactics of the Co-op mission, from my experience, the best way to go about it is for everybody to mount the Humvees and drive them fast into town, halting at the end of the road (not making any 90 degree turn), abandoning the Humvees since they make great decoys even when empty, and spread out... anybody know where to go best from there?

    Enemy Territory : Quake Wars

From all I've seen so far I truly hope the gameplay will be even better than all the graphics shown off so far... I for one can hardly wait for this one!

    Armed Assault videos

Strangely I haven't seen any dynamic destruction of buildings in that vid, I thought it was going to be a feature in VBS2...

Sieg Zeon! Well, actually I don't like the original Gundam (Universal Century) story line, I must say I prefer the Gundam SEED (Cosmic Era) story line...

@ ColonelSandersLite: I recall that copying of Macross/Robotech mechs for Battletech, one can actually find a list of all copies HERE... @ lkavadas: Check out this thread from the Off-Topic section

    'Mechs, Anyone?

8th MS Team, 0083: Stardust Memory and especially MS IGLOO are nice examples how great-looking mechs star in a series where there is no need for any "special powers" - just a conflict told from pilots' points of view, etc. Especially relevant for this ArmA mod would be seeing MS IGLOO's The Hidden One Year War Episode 2: The Howl that Stained the Setting Sun (more info on it at www.mahq.net) . As for mecha games, I haven't played any Front Mission games, but I've seen videos from Front Mission Online, which is the closest thing one could get to what we have in OFP already Also AFAIK from what I've seen in videos Steel Battalion's Mechs aren't much bigger, if anything, than Ocrambass's Wanzer mechs for OFP, Rezin's High-MACS from Gun Griffon, or any heavy-class Battlemechs, for comparison (some may be wider, but none are taller than a Supernova I bet). And this is ArmA, not OFP, so it's not like you run out of space where to go...

    Another scifi thing

My pleasure, as always, D@nte! By the way, I've discovered the name from Philcommando's mech featured in my big picture two replies back, it's the Matrix A.P.U., you can find its original release thread here - though I don't know if any of the links in the whole thread are still working or not... Can't check it out here @ work...
