  1. Greetings All,

Just a quick note to let folks know that DigitalThemePark has now migrated its servers to A2 OA. You will need ACE and ACRE as well. We play Domination on with many maps. DigitalThemePark TeamSpeak can be found at ts3.digitalthemepark.com and the A2 OA servers are under DigitalThemePark.

  2. Greetings All,

I don't post all that much, but several of my friends picked up ARMA 2 while it was on sale at Steam this week. We are having a lot of fun with it. I am curious if others would like to join. We are all a wee bit older(30+), and have fun with folks that are mature and respectful as well. I know this may sound like a clan trying to promote, but we are really just a group of buddies having fun.

We have setup US based server(ARMA 2 with Domination v2.11). I am still tuning, but it seems to work well so far. Any advice is appreciated? Is there anything better than Domination?

For VoIP we use TeamSpeak 3 from DigitalThemePark. (the price is right; FREE!). They can be found at ts3.digitalthemepark.com. Once in the "Welcome..." channel, just PM someone, otherwise you will only be able to get to that default channel until they make you a DTP "citizen".

We also have the OA mod but no server yet. Have not checked to see if we can run on the same box. Will the ports collide? Worth it? Folks like it? It is a "down the road" thing. We are now just trying to get through a Domination primary/secondary target without getting killed.

Anyway, I thank Steam for having such a wonderful sale. Although I have played the ARMA series over the years, this was a nifty find for my friends, and thus me, since I get to play with them. We also got Team Fortress 2 and wow that is fast paced for old fingers.

Hope to see a few new folks, otherwise see you on the Battlefield

  3. Greetings All,

I just noticed the 1.07 patch has been released for ARMA 2. I upgraded my steam client and server (I host Zoo's World). After getting the latest ACE build (371), when I try to connect to my ACE server, I get a "Waiting for Host" message. It appears that a few servers have this working. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something special that needs to be done to support the 1.07 patch? I did a quick search but really did not find anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  4. So what?

I'm talking about value 2 option.

It worked fine, in the same missions (multiplayer) till the last update. It is confirmed by about 10 players.

I saw MPmissions in ACE/store/ directory

Are you talking about "mpmissions.tar"? So I guess we need to get a .tar reader and extract them? I have not seen anything in the changelog that this is the new procedure. What did I miss?

  5. Greetings Oktane,

Ok, what you are saying makes a lot of sense. Now, is it ARMA 2 that is responsible for the client time sync to server when a player connects, or does the mapmaker have to add his code.

Here is my guess. ARMA 2 normally does the sync as part of the product/game/simulation. Domi maps are coded to perform a time sync to the admin set default time. So another sync occurs to this default server time, (5am is default for Domi I think)

    Am I all wet here?

So the trick might be to allow admin to set the server clock (once at map startup, like it is now), but clients use the intrinsic ARMA 2 command (already automatic)

I could be way way off.

  6. Then you have the answer, in your MPMissionsCache directory! Unpbo and look at the mission.. If you find it, post it here!

I have determined the mission file, and unpbo'd it. I am in the guts of the scripting, but being a newbie to ARMA scripting, I have yet to determine the command or proper placement in the numerous scripts.

Playing with the scripting is kinda fun.

  7. Greetings All,

I am trying to fix the latest Domination maps to support setting the client side clock to match the server when connecting. Currently, each person that joins, gets reset to a default time. This becomes an issue with sessions that last several hours from dusk and into the night. Some are playing at night and others daytime.

I am very new to scripting in the game. What commands and, equally important, script file(s) does one add to a map in order to sync the time upon client connection to a server?

Thanks in advance to all that respond.

  8. Greetings All,

Domination is wonderful. We very much enjoy these scripts for our server at "Zoo's World!". Since we have seen the last Domination release and ARMA2 Patch 1.04 is out, I would like to be able to get the time sync when joining fixed.

I am very new to editing sqf files, but I have figured out how to extract the sqf files, but does anyone know off hand where the commented out commands are for the time fix (Since 1.03 broke it, Xeno commented or removed the commands).

  9. I had the same keyboard issue. I rebooted and the keyboard work just fine after that.

I see there is a comment in the notes about time of day being fixed. Two of us joined "Zoo's World!" (30 minutes apart) that has been updated to v1.04 and are in game watches are 30 minutes apart. This might be a bit crazy if we have have the folks showing nighttime and the other in daytime. Is there something that has to be changed on the server or client to make this fix work?

  10. Very interesting, Pulverizer. I did not know the enemy radar was related to the view distance. I figured View Distance was just related to system performance. It does make sense about the radar thing. Thanks for mentioning that.

As for "Q" you mentioned this command can be inserted into a file that is used when I MP a mission? Can you give me more details?

    Thanks guys.

  11. Thanks for the response.

"just insert these lines in the ABC.ArmAProfile" - I have that and set it to 3500. I believe this is file is created for your players profile and represents the in game view distance.

"you can write "SetViewDistance XXXX" in the init line of the unit" - This one intrigues me. So what you are stating is that it may be possible to have a ground unit with 1200m, but a aircraft a much higher view distance? I figured it was a per mission setting for all units, but having a higher view distance for aircraft would be pretty cool.
