  1. Fun mission so far, Manzilla. Great to see missions already being made for TKOH! :) Just tried it in the latest version of TKOH and noticed only a couple areas for improvement: Overall, there is some nice potential here. I liked the challenge presented to me at the mine, and I also liked the ability to use team switch to change to one of the remaining friendly ground units. It was short, but sweet. I look forward to seeing more of your work! :)

Here's the Wiki article detailing the various "hidden" cheats. ;)

    My first impression

Your current setup only partially meets the minimum requirements, and even then, they only barely meet it. Laptops are pretty poor for gaming usually, especially simulators. ;) Minimum requirements for TKOH: OS: Windows XP Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz or faster Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM or faster DirectX®: dx90c Hard Drive: 20 GB HD space Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible audio-card

    Act of Valor (film)

I quite like the look of it. If done well, it could be a really nice and perhaps pretty realistic take on SEAL operations, and the lives of SEALs in general. Although, I am not expecting much from the acting department as, although SEALs can do some incredible things, I'm not entirely convinced that they can carry movie roles, especially if they are the only actors playing the main characters.
  5. It sounds as if you're either flying two different helicopters and don't realize it, or you're playing free flight on an easier difficulty setting than the challenges. Easier difficulty settings enable the feature called auto-trim, which automatically manages your trimming (go figure :p ). Harder difficulties disable this. Try messing around with your difficulty settings to get the experience you want. So far, yes. :(
  6. With your joystick disconnected, perhaps it's the mouse itself that is the problem? What mouse do you have? Sorry to hear about your troubles. Where did you purchase the game from? I presume you purchased it from our store. If that is the case, contact the store's support to ask for a refund. I do not believe PayPal will do it for you, unless I am mistaken.
  7. Try creating a folder titled MPMissions in your profiles folder, typically located at: C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\Take On Helicopters Other Profiles\<your profile name> And then stick the mission files in there. We've had reports that this works. :)

    New Action Menu

I recommend taking some time to learn the hotkeys for issuing orders. Key ones like All Return To Formation: ~ 1 1, All Hold Fire: ~ 3 2, All Open Fire: ~ 3 1, All Engage At Will: ~ 3 5, All Take Cover: ~ 1 8, All Go Prone: ~ 7 8, All Keep Low: ~ 7 9, etc. They are really fast ways of issuing quick orders to your whole squad. And then, of course, you can issue individual orders using the Function keys. Also, make good use of Backspace to close menus, and you'll be all set. :)

The trouble with getting people into Arma

It is for everyone, both those who wish to play coop and those who wish to play PvP. If you wish to play PvP and cannot find a server to your liking, you can freely locally host your own, purchase and run your own server, or kindly ask some server admins if they would be willing to host a mission you wish to play. There is no reason to deem one group above the other, and that goes for both groups of players. As a self-proclaimed nerd, I usually find that those who play video games and attack others unprovoked on a video game forum, are just as nerdy as the rest of us. Just some food for thought. :)

    CWR² Demo

You need at least both ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead installed so that you can run ARMA 2: Combined Operations. Run each game at least once so that the registries are installed for them, and then Right Click on ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead in Steam, select Properties and then Set Launch Options. Add the following to the box: -noSplash "-world=Eden" "-mod=@CWR2" Once added, Right Click ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead in Steam again, and choose Launch ARMA 2: Combined Operations. Now it should run ARMA 2: Combined Operations with CWR2 loaded. Make sure the @CWR2 folder is located inside your ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead install folder.
  12. I didn't really find myself enjoying the game at all until I successfully got onto a test server that was running Caspian Border: jIfbTdpkgBs Shame that today is the last day Caspian Border will be tested in the Open Beta. :(
  13. The South Asia terrain is not based on part of California. :)
  14. The standard solution in the community is attachTo' date=' or a setPos loop in the past, possibly combined with a static rope object. We actually have ropes that move realistically depending on the forces acting on them, induced by the environment, the helicopter, and the load itself. As for the actual attaching, when you get near the attachable object you lower your helicopter to an appropriate height and stabilize it, then the rope will be dropped down to the cargo and hooked. Cargo will automatically be detached from the helicopter when you reach a location, or you'll get an option in your action menu to manually detach it. Whichever method you get depends on the design of the mission you are playing. Yes, you will need to make sure you're using the appropriate helicopter for certain loads, as you can easily push the engine too far with overly-heavy loads, causing the engine to become damaged or entirely disabled. Some loads are simply way too heavy for any of the helicopters to lift without breaking their engines.
  15. If you can maneuver yourself into a position that allows you to see the attached cargo, I don't see why not. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question. Your copilot will also help you out by giving you instructions. Of course, if all else fails, there is indeed still 3rd person view. Yes, the loads will swing and such depending on the movements of the helicopter carrying them. Yes, different rope lengths are possible.

  17. Reviews, as always, are subjective. Personally, I think RO2 deserves high praise, despite the launch issues. :)

    9/11 10th Anniversary

You are correct, mrcash2009. I was simply shocked to see it for the first time and believed others should know of Kevin's sacrifice. However, I see that it wasn't within the spirit of the day, so I have removed my post. My apologies.

    Warning tubechanneldoctor.com is a scam

Every single sub4sub and view count booster that contacts you on YouTube should always be considered a scam. :)
  22. I'm actually really enjoying RO2, even with all the issues the beta has. It's the first proper beta that I've participated in a long time. :)
