    Crosshair Accuracy

I actually like the crosshair in both OFP and ArmA. It's different to the very simplistic ones in other games. You've got the two outer parts which move apart depending on your movement, you've got the middle line that tells you where your gun is actually pointing and then when you sprint, it changes to a different crosshair to indicate that you can't fire unless you stop. I find it fairly easy to use, but that's probably because I've been playing these games with it since OFP's release in 2001. In terms of the accuracy of it, I've never really noticed an issue with it's accuracy. It is a bit inaccurate sometimes, especially in situations you don't want/need it to be. I can use it accurately, but again, I've been playing the game for a while. I definitely can say I prefer it over other games' crosshairs.

    Operation Flashpoint references in Arma2?

At the end of that HD ArmA 2 trailer, where you're apparently being held captive by the rebels, it sounds like just before the screen goes black, one of the guys says: "Sorry to leave you so soon, Aleksi. I thought we were becoming friends." Well, Guba's full title was General Aleksi Vasilli Guba. Though I may be hearing it wrong.
  3. Marek - simply put: you're awesome. Great April Fools joke.
  4. If it's TrackIR, it's very well done in the videos. However, that cutscene you're talking about, Salvatore - that's definitely not TrackIR. More likely it's the animation with the head movements actually making the first person view move, unlike the animations we currently have in ArmA. It also looks like BIS has added motion blur to ArmA II, or just edited it to look that way, as when there are sudden sharp movements it always blurs. That jogging part is case and point.

    US Infantry - 2005

Awesome units, Cameron. I only have one request at the moment: I'm not really a fan of the new FOV these units have. Any chance of an "optional patch" which makes the FOV the same as the default ArmA units? It just kinda buggers with the FOV in vehicles being off centered and whatnot. Great job, none-the-less.

    Performance with ATI 4850 = NVDIA 7800GT

Yes, volkov956 is correct - ArmA is very CPU dependent. However, your CPU may be bottleknecking your 4850. What speed is your CPU, what FSB does it have and how much cache does it have? Sorry, I'm not familiar with ATI processors.

    Arma Vs Ofp

Salvatore, you should just report his posts rather than granting him the pleasure of a response.
  8. Since without installing any patches you have version 1.06, that means you have the US/Atari version. Your game is installed under C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA, correct? First, you must download v1.08. You have to install this first in order to install v1.14. Once v1.14 is installed, you will be able to install v1.15. Trying to install them in a different order could screw up your ArmA installation or the patches may be programed to not let you do it.

    Total time

My Xfire says I've been playing for a total of 165 hours. However, I've only just started using Xfire again. I've been playing ArmA since it's release, and it's the only game that I always have installed.

    FDF Mod 1.0 for ArmA

Man, I can't tell you how long I've been awaiting this mod's release in ArmA. Absolutely awesome Christmas present. Thanks for all your hard work, FDF team!

    CSLA3 Phase1

Excellent work as always from the CSLA team. I'm having loads of fun playing the missions made for it which are all really well made. Great job. I found an error in the mission "Attack on Everon village", however: It appeared right after one of the APCs took a hit from a M136 and a side-channel appeared saying "Shit ... our APC is destroyed!" A great mod none-the-less. Definitely one I'm going to continue playing for months to come.

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Weapons in Arma

In my eyes, his stuff does not look like turds. They're not even finished yet, so you have no idea what the finished product could be like. Just because you personally think it does doesn't make it wrong for him to continue. Some people are blowing this way out of proportion. It's kinda silly.

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Weapons in Arma

What's wrong with supporting someone? He can make what he wants to make. You can use it, or you can leave it. I don't use every addon that is made, and sure sometimes the quality is bad. People aren't going to improve, however, if you de-motivate them. Everyone starts out somewhere. Creating an addon from scratch is definitely a feat, but you don't have to create it from scratch. The best designers are thieves. Do people necessarily need to be educated by what they do? He's doing it for fun and for free. It's his own personal project. I gain some educational benefit from doing complex stuff with ArmA, but certainly not as much as I do in an actual school. Sure, if you want to have a job doing just this than you'll want to become better at it. Educate yourself. But he's not doing it as a job, he's doing it as a hobby. The way some veterans of this forum talk down to newbies is quite unfair. It makes for a very unpleasant atmosphere. Let him do what he wants. If he does something wrong, he'll suffer the consequences and learn from it. If he does something right, he'll become motivated to improve. I say full steam ahead, Benson and good luck with it.

ARMA 2 In-game HD Video released

Great trailer. ArmA II's looking fantastic.

    ArmA is too hard

Personally, I find that playing fast paced games like COD4 actually improve my aptitude in ArmA. They develop your reaction time and on-the-spot, close-up accuracy. Obviously, ArmAs playing-style is significantly different from COD4s. I've been playing OFP/ArmA since OFP's demo release way back when, so I'm very used to the gaming style. However, it's still enjoyable to kick back and play something that requires a lot less attention at times.

    Thanks Modders!

Absolutely, BIS did a great job improving the game and adding new content. They deserved to get the "best patch" selection in the Spore issue of PC Gamer for v1.14. The addons produced by the community simply make it all so much better. Thanks again!

    Thanks Modders!

It's gotten to the point where playing ArmA without addons is almost unbearable for me. Thank you to everyone who puts in all this hard work to improve an already great game.!

    CSM Betav2 Released!!

You'll only need the server key for the .bisign file, which this version doesn't have. It should work if you throw it into the addons folder of your server unless you've got it set up to only allow certain mods by using their respective .bikey files, in which case you will need it if you continue doing that.

    CSM Betav2 Released!!

Well I tried it a second time but instead without Queen's Gambit and the M16A4 problem is still there, so it's not an addon conflict. To those saying you have no problems - have you actually tried the M16A4s out and did you have the same issue? Because I can't see how my vanilla ArmA would be different from anyone else's vanilla ArmA since v1.14 is a universal patch (which this mod requires anyways)...

    ArmA photography - Questions&Comments

That's true, but I did find them to be an interesting combination of the camoflauges. They are quite unique in that way. Plus, they looked great in some of ArmAVidz movies.

    CSM Betav2 Released!!

Hey Chammy. Great job on the sound mod, the only part I'm not too keen on is the music replacements (hate death metal) but other than that it's excellent. I'm also getting this bug with the M16A4 series, but in case you don't know what the issue is exactly yet - though I'm sure you do, just wanted to make sure, I made a video showing the error: http://s225.photobucket.com/albums....bug.flv (Sorry for the bad quality, but hopefully you can see what's happening) Great job once more on this. Looking forward to whatever updates you have in store for us.
