As far as I can tell that's the same one that was posted yesterday, Rocco. The Xbox 360 trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jP5CVWaCaw&fmt=22 ^ that one, posted on the page before.

Dslyecxi ran it on a quad-core CPU with a GTX 285 at full settings at 1920x1200 and said it ran great. (Putting a comment like that won't help you. Just watch. ;) ) -
Despite shinRaiden's defending of DR, things such as the "no civilians" part still seem far too stupid to actually be for the reason Codemasters are saying. Codemasters wouldn't come out and say they can't be assed to make civilians, instead they'll release a reason relating to the game's story. Why wouldn't Skira be inhabited? It's a small as hell island, with a fairly large city in it and probably some smaller settlements outside of it, namely farms and whatnot. And to me, this doesn't seem like a conflict that was brewing for a while. Heck, look at the name! A Flashpoint is a sudden erupt of conflict. OFP's storyline was exactly that, which evolved into a proper war as time went on. Calling it "Operation Flashpoint" with the conflict not actually being a Flashpoint is kinda misleading, y'know. I'm still pissed at Codemasters for spitting in the face of their PC community and making the best trailer so far specifically for the consoles. They have to be going for the console market more than the PC market to pull a stunt like that. And OFP is not for console markets. OFP:E had some success, but it was no where near as large as OFP on the PC.

Being in HD seems to make me see the ugliness of it in higher definition.
-
I must admit, the game does look quite old. I especially like how the majority of shots in that trailer were low-level shots. They tried to hide the awful draw distance (you can see how bad it is in some shots) by showing such low-level shots, but the grass itself looks like shit. ArmA II looks much better than this for sure.
-
That's actually not bad. Having said that, the best trailer CM have released of DR so far is the Xbox 360 trailer. What's that tell you about CM sticking with the original OFP's roots? ;)
-
Any idea if doing so would not cause issues if I was to use my card in XP rather than Windows 7? I tells ya, if it doesn't, I may stop using XP for a while. Also, wouldn't I want 185.81? Or is .71 a special one?

Dude, 15 FPS is not smooth, and definitely not good for gameplay. ;) But yes, bravo6, if you're getting that FPS on such low settings you should be able to up them a bit. 30 FPS is the mark, for me. This patch has given me a really large performance boost. I already had great performance on my new PC, but now I'm getting over 100 FPS more often on full settings. It's quite nice.
-
Very unsurprising. I bet ArmA II will already have dominated the market by then. DR will have to pull out all the stops to beat it I think. And so far, it doesn't look like it's anywhere near "pulling out all the stops".

I'm actually pleasantly surprised with Windows 7. I gave into the persuasion from friends of mine and signed up for the release candidate. Downloaded, burned to a DVD and installed on a separate partition to allow dual-booting between XP and it. I must say, this is certainly better than Vista, and may even be better than XP. I'm finding it to be much faster and responsive. There are a couple of compatibility issues. For me, the only program that has compatibility issues is Norton Internet Security 2009 (yeah, I know...) but Symantec has already come out with a compatibility fix. Haven't installed it because I don't want my XP boot to screw up. Same with my GTX 280 drivers, so I can't play any games on it either, unfortunately. I may try later on. But I definitely recommend trying it out. Especially since it's free, easy to install and easy to uninstall. I'm looking forward to the release.

Thanks for the translation MadDogX. Ah well, I didn't really expect there to be one. Seems too difficult and impractical to spend lots of time on doing in the RealVirtuality engine. -
When you start playing a mission on Veteran and then switch back to Cadet and reload your save, the mission still plays out on Veteran settings. Unlimited saves is permanently disabled with Veteran, so the only way to have it work is to click Revert rather than Resume and play from the start of the mission.

No, you wouldn't. You would get Dragon Rising. :D

No, ArmA, and soon to be ArmA II, are much more serious than Project Reality. Project Reality is "realistic", ArmA and ArmA II are considered simulators. Proper ballistics, realistic damage values, etc. One shot through the head will kill you instantly, and even one shot to the torso could kill you as well. In ArmA, you have the ability to pilot multiple different aircraft, crew tanks and drive a number of different wheeled vehicles. It is going to be the same in ArmA II, with even more additions to each field. Multiplayer in ArmA has always been enjoyable. Sadly, some over-played maps and mods have taken over the multiplayer scene in ArmA and it becomes really hard to find a good server to play on. With the advent of ArmA II, I'm sure that there'll be tons of good servers for us to choose from. There are multiple different modes available for multiplayer in ArmA. You have your usual deathmatches, team deathmatches, capture the flag, etc. but then you also have coops and PvP maps. One of the most popular being Warfare, which was released in the v1.14 patch. Coops and Warfare are the most popular modes in ArmA multiplayer. The AI has never been absolutely amazing in either OFP or ArmA, but ArmA II looks like it's going to change all of that with the addition of MicroAI. Check out some of the videos and you can see just what they can do when reacting to any given stimulus dynamically.

The release date is still to be determined. But, so far, it still looks like there's the possibility of it on the Xbox 360. -
Yes, watch the NAPA faction video. You can see a train pass by part way through.

Indeed, the game does look good. I'm just surprised there's so much hype over the graphics. OFP taught us all that great graphics do not make a great game. :D -
Much like when ArmA was first released... I do believe that what he's posted is probably either 1) made up or 2) exaggerated. It is the internet after all. However, it does make me wonder if CM are actually going to produce something of worth with the OFP brand name...
-
The fact that he's comparing the one in ArmA II to real life satellite imagery. Apart from a few changes, it looks identical.
-
That's pretty much been fixed as of v1.15b.
-
ArmA had that bug in previous versions when dealing with a card which had a unified architecture to it. Really, anything past the 8xxx series nVIDIA cards. The demo, due to it's old version, also contains that issue. It's been fixed after v1.08 (if I recall correctly, may have been later or earlier) but it's definitely not an issue now since I can play ArmA with my GTX 280. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it unless you buy the game.
-
When you start a mission using mods, it makes those mods a requirement in order to load any save data from that session. The only reason you would get those errors is if you try to load the mission without using the same mods. You may be able to fix it if you un-binarize the save files and remove the mod requirements, but that will more-than-likely cause things to not work properly.
-
That actually doesn't look too bad. Funny how they've been leaked, though.
-
BIS have said that if an addon was made well enough for ArmA it will work completely fine in ArmA II. It may even look better than it did in ArmA.
-
Pretty much everyone in my year knows what ArmA is because of me. ... It's a start? :p
