    ArmA 2 German Release Thread

Wow, thanks for calling me a noob. I'm not, I started playing BIS games in 2001 with the release of OFP: CWC. I've seen all the different BIS releases and how they have worked and progressed. They have already stated that such things like the infinite terrain will be much better in the 505 Games version. It is not going to be the exact same version.
  2. Wow, and what was this stuff about the recommended graphics card being a 8800 GT? I'd take a recommended specification to be what you need to play it at or slightly above medium settings. But the 4850 is a fair bit better than the 8800 GT, is it not? That concerns me with my GTX 280. :butbut:

    ArmA 2 German Release Thread

I'm pretty sure the 505 Games version will be the intended quality. I think the German publishers were a bit too greedy and wanted to push the game out before everyone else to rake in the dough, even if that meant an unfinished, unpolished version. Ah well. Jack, you reaaaaaaaaally should update your signature. :D
  4. I just want to ask what the reason was for implementing such a different method of AA in comparison to ArmA? And why you had to resort to patching it in at a later date? I'm holding out for the 505 Games version, but I want to know if there are some serious reasons behind these strange omissions by you guys.

Getting Queen's Gambit campaign to run?

Do you see either United Sahrani or Porto in the list of islands you can choose? If you see only Porto, the DBE1 folder is not activated. If you don't even see Porto, then something has indeed gone wrong and I would recommend a reinstall. By the way, the v1.08 patch included with Queen's Gambit updates any version to v1.08. You don't have to install any patches before hand. But try installing v1.14 and see what happens. Make sure your target line for the shortcut reads something like this: Europe/505 Games version: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=DBE1 America/Atari version: "C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=DBE1 If it's been installed correctly, that's what you should use.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

I still can't believe all they did was bring up the optics and command system in that picture. What a waste of a third screenshot... :j:

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

I'll cast my vote for "stupid and lying", please. Judging from previous Codemasters endeavors, that's probably the case. Technically, you can set your view distance in ArmA to 30km, or higher, by the setViewDistance command, but that's not to say it runs well at all.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

It is really CGI. That company with the red star at the start admitted to it. They made it as a concept for what Codemasters planned to release. It's actually a much older video that's only recently been released. The screenshots and other videos of the game prove that video is not ingame anyways. It looks nothing like them.

    Help to Improve Performance

Your computer doesn't really pass the minimum requirements. Your processor is only 1.8GHz, which does not change if it is dual core or not. It's quite low for a gaming laptop. My old laptop was 2GHz, and it's almost 2 and a half years old now. Plus, your 8800M GTS is quite a weak card. The 8800M GTS is not the same as the 8800 GTS, it has a much lower performance It's probably equivalent to a 8600 desktop card. So, you'll have to either turn down ingame settings or upgrade, unfortunately. Make sure you patch up to v1.16 beta, though. That will help improve your performance, as will using performance-helping addons.

That whole video is CGI. Nothing is ingame, despite what the title says. It was originally a concept video Codemasters had given to those guys to make for them, which they would follow.
  11. Agreed, hopefully some reviews will be coming out soon. Unfortunately, they'll probably all be in German. Fortunately, someone will probably translate them.

    need help with FDF mod

Spoiler alert. Highlight the white text below to see what I write if you want to know what to do: You're supposed to shoot him in the legs. Aim and fire once, he'll drop prone and stop moving. You can use your rifle, but you're less likely to kill him if you switch to your pistol. You have to do it quickly otherwise he escapes. But that is how you do it. Hope that helps you. Also, ask such questions in the related thread next time. The FDF mod already has a thread which you can find here.
  13. It came with CWR. It's one of the longest campaigns that was made for OFP, now in CWR.

    Bohemia's plans

I'm sure he does. He sounds very much like a guy who was on here earlier talking about ArmA II on the 360. That guy was banned but apparently he had already duplicated an account, which was then banned subsequently. The guy said he could "beat" the forums, so I think this is him. Or I'm just horribly mistaken.

    Armed Assault videos

Here's a trailer I created for the recent release of ArmA: Cold War Rearmed. It is based on the original OFP: Game of the Year trailer to show you all just how much has changed. You can find the original trailer here: ArmA: Cold War Rearmed on Vimeo

Will ArmA II Have VAC Anti-Cheat

You guys started playing ArmA after *** got bored (this post will see if *** still gets converted to KFC, lol) when people like Doolittle released their own anti-cheat scripts, and then BIS introduced BE. Believe me, before that happened, I would not touch ArmA MP for a while. Every public server had a cheater blowing up everything in a Evolution map or mic spamming. It was like any other game, if not worse. *** were griefers, not trying to make themselves look good. Edit: Nope, just gets censored out instead.
  17. After Montignac became the After Montignac I remembered once I ran back to the wood you originally started in for OFP. The patrols that would kill you if you didn't move quick enough were still there, as was the BMP and infantry around Provins, and the huge amount of infantry and that T72 past Figari. But I voted for the nightmare one, of course.
  18. The voice acting wasn't done by us. It's the voices from Operation Flashpoint: Elite, the Xbox version of OFP. Sadly, they kinda suck. But glad to see you're enjoying it!

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

That statement kinda sums it all up. It's the DR forums. In all seriousness, they're pretty much just like us over here. There are people here who will defend BIS like Gods, and it's the same over there. Fortunately, the BIS community is much more mature than theirs.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

You know, I now can't see any other explanation for it being there on EVERY DR screen. Codemasters must have put a noise filter in as part of the graphical element of the game. You'd think with all that's been criticized about the noise, CM would not use it anymore. Now I wonder if they can actually disable it. :j:
  21. Yeah, it's there. Click on Missions, then double click on Orig... and select CWR Infantry. That's the mission in all it's CWR glory. I'm actually fairly surprised at the moment. I've gotten up to the famous After Montignac and, despite the OFP:E Xbox down-grade of the mission, I decided to go back and check out Provins to see if all the stuff was still there. And it is. The infantry (along with the BMP) are still there, as is the "secret" UAZ and ammo crate.
  22. I think it looks quite a bit like the actual one?

    ArmA Controller Compatible?

http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/ Download and install that, and then go to here and download the profile. Then load it into the application and you should be good to go. I have a Xbox 360 controller myself, but I don't use it for ArmA, so I can't tell you if that profile is good or not.
  24. I believe that would be because in Resistance, Guba is a Colonel, not a General like in CWC. CWR only made Guba in his General uniform as a separate unit with only that specific face assigned to it. In Resistance, he isn't that unit, he's just a regular Officer unit, so he doesn't have that face. Thanks for reporting it.
  25. Man, it's so cool to just read all this information BIS are putting up for us. It's actually well-enough done to be interesting. :D
