ARMA 2 DE 1.01 (final) Impressions - Post ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here

lapa: what's the one thing BIS had in OFP that they don't have now? That's right - Codemasters. Since CWR was not able to use the original OFP voices, that means they were copyrighted by Codemasters, meaning that they provided something substantial to get them, probably the money and the voice actors. BIS has to spend money elsewhere rather than the vocal area, I think. -
Oh, ok then. I don't own the game myself, EricM. That's why I didn't know. Well, if that's possible, then there's your solution BaseJumper.

Here you go. ;)

You sure you don't mean the head wobble and motion blur/bloom? Head wobble has yet to be disabled, but the motion blur and bloom has by Kegetys.

LOL. First, no, there isn't. Second, what's wrong with them? Apart from the issues that have been commented on to death, which are improved in Arma 2.

ArmA II Photography I: Questions. Comments & Discussion

I believe one of the team members is a WWI aficionado and made it himself for the game. Was in OFP as the only "official" BIS addon, and was included in ArmA and, so I've heard, Arma 2 as standard. -
Perhaps, but it's not new. It's been there and "classified" since the site was made. :p

Plus, the majority of those who come from playing the Battlefield series and realize just how hard it actually is, just start ruining the experience for others (teamkilling, cheating, spamming, etc.) and then never touching the game again. As many have stated, Arma 2 is not at all like any of the Battlefield games, so I wouldn't buy it if that's what you expect.

LOL. I can smell the mods coming... -
Love the wallpaper, Abs. Like how you used the pelvic-thrust from Pure Pwnage. :p

Well, it is obviously worth installing v1.01 final over the beta as it does have subtle improvements. Though from what I can tell on these forums, it doesn't change too much from v1.01 beta. Still, why stay behind and use a beta when the final fixes issues that the beta has? So really, yes, it's worth installing even if you don't play MP much. -
Yes, as Dr.Pulp stated, it is controlled by the author of the mission as well as the settings that the server is on. Some maps for ArmA had scripts inbuilt that would let you set your own local terrain detail when playing MP. Perhaps those scripts will make their way into Arma 2. The server/mission also controls the view distance that everyone has, but again, there were some missions that had scripts to modify these values locally. The main reasons that these values are controlled are 1) to make sure one player does not have an advantage over the other, especially in PvP games & 2) to control the client-side performance of the people who play on the server. I think the logic towards this method has greater reasoning than it would if it were removed, in my opinion.

Had you played MP on a server that had grass enabled before you tried lowering the setting to Very low? Or were you actually playing MP at the time you tried setting it to Very low? It's a strange... "bug", but it was/is there in ArmA as well. The servers can, of course, force a certain terrain detail amount so that everyone has the same level of grass. Stops one player having an advantage over the other. If you were in MP, changing the grass setting in your ArmA II will not effect it until you reboot ArmA II. Also, after playing a MP game, the terrain detail setting is forced on you and again, you cannot make changes until you reboot the game. I think BIS have included this option for MP, but have not made it become disabled after playing MP. -
There really isn't much BIS can or will do about this issue, it's the same in every game. It was much worse at ArmA's release believe me. The noobs eventually got bored of the game and simply stopped playing in it. BIS introduced BattlEye, of course, which did help. Not only that, but the community even made their own anti-cheat measures. Unfortunately, we're just going to have to put up with release 'tards for a while until they get bored of the game.

I'd suggest asking such questions here, rather than creating a new thread.

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Zipper5 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
It'll probably do just fine at medium to high settings. Don't see why it won't. What OS are you planning on getting? -
Yes, it's been out since the 29th of May. But only in Germany. Non-Germans have been getting the game only by buying the German version either in downloadable or boxed form. It's released in Europe on the 19th of June, and will be released on Steam ten days after that (29th of June).

Wasn't it locked because we already have this thread which serves the purpose just fine for what you want to post? They even told you to come here and post rather than opening a new thread. -
If I'm not mistaken, Myshaak, didn't Seventh go on to form BIA and work on VBS after OFP? I seem to recall that's how BIA got formed.

Patch not solving campaign problems...
Zipper5 replied to Steinfisch's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hm, concerning as those are close to my PC specs. Apart from Windows 7, which could be the reason for your troubles. Do you, by chance, have a dual-boot setup that lets you boot either Windows 7 or XP/Vista? I'd recommend trying to boot into XP/Vista if you do and try it out there, see if you get the same issues. -
I don't think it's the greatest thing to admit to piracy of BIS games on their forums, PhailQuail.

What specs do you have? Did you buy a legitimate copy of the game? I would also advise not posting the same thread in two different sections just so that they get more attention. -
BIS have said it's likely a demo will come out before the 505 Games release. BIS know that people want a demo as it's been stated many times in many other locked threads on this forum like yours. If you can't wait, buy the downloadable German version of ArmA II and try it out there.

Heh, I like that picture of the billboard, Gart. I like the little nod towards OFP players with it being made by "Malden Tours". :D Also, can someone make this thread a sticky? I think people are commenting in the photo thread because they can't see this as I had to look to the bottom of the page to find it. Would eliminate that excuse. -
I wonder if posts like this can be considered spam, especially after the nature of the response above it. I don't actually play in a clan. I play in a tournament, but that's only Saturdays. And currently, public multiplayer in ArmA 1 is a joke. You either need ACE to play, or you're stuck with a bunch of people playing modes such as Evolution. And there's only ever 3 really populated servers...
