BIS file structure Q - where are my missions ?
Zipper5 replied to cartier90's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The single player, multiplayer and campaign missions are all inside the missions.pbo in the AddOns folder. I actually like that, as it helps me keep track of the official and unofficial missions (accidentally deleted the training missions in ArmA once and when I went to patch it, it wouldn't as it didn't find them). Keep in mind that doesn't mean you have to put custom missions into the missions.pbo, putting them into the MP Missions or Missions folder, where appropriate, works as it always has. MP missions that you have downloaded from servers when playing online are located where others have posted above. -
Multiplayer is just one big lagg & horrible to play
Zipper5 replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Man, some people reaaaaally need to chill out on this forum. I find there are a lot of over-dramatics here. Some people are jumping to conclusions based on what others have said, yet they themselves have the game and haven't actually tried it. They just immediately write it off. To tell you the truth, if that's how you're going to act, then you're not wanted 'round these here parts. -
Multiplayer is just one big lagg & horrible to play
Zipper5 replied to Jackdaniels's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Jackdaniels - hopefully you're not coming to this game's multiplayer having played multiplayer in other games such as COD5 and expecting the same result. ArmA II doesn't have perfect netcode, not at all. However, you must consider many other factors with a game such as ArmA II. First off, most other games play in very small areas that do not require any streaming at all, thus requiring much less of the bandwidth. In ArmA II, the entire island has to be streamed for all users. I think the "lag" you're talking about is targets further in the distance warping a lot. It is annoying, yes, but think of why it does that. If the netcode devoted the same amount of bandwidth to every unit on the map, regardless of if the player could see it, it would not even run. It devotes less time and effort to things further away from the player than it does to those closer to it. That way it's actually playable. Also, you've got to consider if it's actually the game causing you the issue, your internet, or the server you're playing on. Each of those could cause serious lag in the game if something goes wrong. You cannot say ArmA II's netcode is in bad condition. It's not perfect, but when you look at what it must do for multiplayer, you realize that it does a pretty damn impressive job. The singleplayer also isn't "terrible". And r1ckyr4y - look forward to being even more disappointed. ;) Edit: No, if you think that, you really don't know what you're talking about. Ping dictates the distance from you to the server. Not if you're going to cause lag and have issues in the game. I live in the Middle-East, so I'm pretty far away from all servers and get pings no lower than 150ms. However, I see the exact same thing my friends do and get no lag 95% of the time. Unless your ping goes into ridiculous numbers like 800ms and above, it does not really matter, especially not in a game like ArmA II. -
Funny thing I noticed is that the Modern Warfare 2 trailer used the same sounds as this trailer, and the other ones for the movie too. Wonder if IW and Dreamworks are related somehow?

No game is void of morons from the get-go, unless it really sucks. BIS games have always had a trend of morons playing the game for a short while after the releases, but they eventually get bored. Also, a few bad experiences doesn't label the entire community as morons. I don't see how you could expect any game to not have them, even one such as ArmA II.

I wouldn't suggest saying such a thing on the game developer's official forum. Are you sure you entered the CD key correctly? Is the disc clean/not scratched? Has anyone used the disc before you? Perhaps Placebo will come along and be able to help you out more. By the way, as soon as you use the crack FADE will activate, so there's really no point.

ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
Zipper5 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
They can't include every single fix in one patch, dude. This is only the third (second if you don't count the beta) patch BIS has released. Give it time, it'll eventually reach a point where the differences between known and then will be like day and night. Has done so with every other BIS game. -
I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally think you guys are taking what I'm saying completely the opposite to how I meant it. I am not trolling at all, but damn that word is being used more and more on here recently. In some ways it's just being tossed around... I wouldn't say this stuff if I hadn't done my research. I've seen these videos you guys are showing me many times before this and while they do say there's the possibility I have yet to see one that outright confirms it, let alone a press release from BIS. Well yeah, it would be much more possible then. I was responding to the people who said they wanted it "soon" otherwise they will lose interest. I know BIS are going to want to iron out the bugs on the PC version to have a much more bugfree console release to rake in bigger bucks. Of course that's possible. And I don't know why but you guys are sounding really hostile towards me. I'm hardly looking for a fight, I wouldn't do that. Not here. I've been in "the scene" since OFP's release and have been following BIS ever since, so of course I've and "done my homework". I'm not one of those people who just posts bullshit all the time to, well, troll. Also, that link doesn't work. But whatever, let's stop derailing the thread.

Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!
Zipper5 replied to EricM's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
That's just awesome. If that's not Berghoff then he sounds identical to him. It's quite the nod to OFP fans. :D -
Yes, PC gamers can post in the 360 thread. There's no rule against it. And of course I support BIS and all of it's products. I find that you are getting a bit too hostile over what I said. As it stands, it is still very unlikely that there will be a 360 version. BIS usually makes all of the announcements. I've barely seen any by 505 Games for the PC version. And I knew of that website, but to me, it does not look like it's official. It's exactly like how Gamestop is "selling" the US version of ArmA II and it's published by some company called "Got Game Entertainment", yet BIS have not confirmed that at all. BIS have not once confirmed a 360 version. They have, however, said they would look into making one. I'm sure they would like to, as it would bring big sums of cash. None-the-less, look at OFP: Elite for the original Xbox. That came out years after the original PC release of OFP, and didn't sell anywhere near as well as the PC version. I cannot see why BIS would want to release it on a console again, considering their main market is the PC market and they have not have amazing success on consoles so far. Plus, people in here are expecting it to be coming out "soon". Point me to any information bar that one website that hasn't even been confirmed by BIS to prove me wrong. There have been no articles about the 360 version, no videos of it or videos announcing it. BIS hasn't announced it, neither has 505 Games. Yet you're all still expecting one to be released "soon". It's not an easy task porting a PC game to a console, granted it's easier to do so with the 360 than the PS3, and that is why you find either shitty PC ports or shitty console ports nowadays as devs can't be bothered to do a good job. With such little evidence to suggest that there will be a 360 version, I'm just saying not to hold your breath on one and expect one, otherwise you'll be disappointed.
-
Man, first the muzzle flash and now the muzzle smoke. People don't seem to care about the rest of the game they're playing. Or they like to nitpick... Or both. I think it's fine the way it is.
-
Well I wouldn't hold your breath you guys. BIS have not made any announcements confirming that they are working on a 360 version, and I deem it very unlikely that they will. Or if they do, it will not be for a while.

Staggered release, bad idea or blessing in disguise?
Zipper5 replied to TCEd's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Lol with the dev team fired how are they going to update it? And you know, I actually agree with you TCEd. Stuff like what has happened with AA3 is all too common-place nowadays and gets people really pissed off at the game. With ArmA II being released at different times in different places it evens out the load, allowing for there to be much less problems like AA3 has had. -
Name 3 things that makes ArmA2 a better game than ArmA1
Zipper5 replied to ZiggyJinx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
1. The attachTo command 2. The new Game Logic Modules 3. The AI enhancements Of course, I have many more reasons, but those are my top 3. -
I seriously doubt you are going to see a 360 version for a while guys. If it ever even is released, it'll take the amount of time that OFP: Elite took to come out on the original Xbox.

ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
Zipper5 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
It's still v1.01 beta in the 505 Games version, apparently. Even the German version has v1.01 final. We don't know what fixes v1.02 will bring but I bet they'll be substantial. I'm pretty sure BIS are trying to fix these issues since you're not the first to report them. -

Zipper5 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I wanted a demo so that I could at least play it while waiting for my ArmA II copy to get to me from the UK. However, I definitely say the patch is much more important. 100%. -
It's unfortunate. I thought I'd at least be able to get the game myself before cheaters started to become an issue once more. Though the larger groups have gotten cheat packs up in a heartbeat... We're quite unlucky as we don't get the cheaters who cheat to get better at the game. We get the immature kids who hate the game for whatever reason and want to ruin it for everyone else. Us older people who play a more mature game have to deal with younger, immature cheaters. Well, like with ArmA, they'll get bored eventually and leave. Perhaps someone like Doolittle will come along to help out with fighting them even more, but they'll leave eventually. We may just have to end up "riding out the storm" sadly.

ArmA's only v1.16. v1.02 will be out soon, don't know if it will be tomorrow, but enjoy the game until then and don't simply spend your time searching for bugs. -

That's not what I meant. That was a placeholder in the German version. BIS and 505 Games had talked often of a way of making the infinite terrain better than it already is. I didn't expect for it to be introduced with the 505 Games retail release, rather a patch after it.
