    Expect more bugs.

Or perhaps you have no idea how to setup/use a PC? I forsee a lock soon.

    Expect more bugs.

I finished it without any bugs. Prepare to have a very short stay here then.

Why does everyone keep labeling ArmA II as unplayable? If it was unplayable it wouldn't be working for the majority of buyers, including myself. Saying it's unplayable means exactly what it says - you can't play it. Yet people are. So stop calling it unplayable as it's not, unless you say explicitly "unplayable for me". People over-exaggerate a lot now...

    viewdistance and other dissapointments

You really sound like you should stick to OFP. Very non-graphically intensive, good draw distance for the view distances it offers, no grass and no awesome AI like in ArmA II. Since those seem to be some of the main things you're disappointed about, sounds like OFP would be your best choice. As for me, I shall stick with the 8 years of advancement.

    Best campaign

Why does the poll allow you to select more than one option? Seriously, these needless threads need to stop.

    VopSound 2.1

I think it may have something to do with that, Linelor.
  7. If I'm not mistaken, I believe videos go in this video thread. Though, from the title of this thread, I can see why you posted it here. Also the fact that said thread is not sticky'd.
  8. Nice one Mark. One issue I did notice is that the @HiFi_A10 folder just has the PBO inside of it, not an AddOns folder. So some people are going to come here saying "ZOMG IT DOESN'T WORK!!111one" when they didn't check to see if the folder was set up right. But great work indeed. :D
  9. No one can help you if you don't give us any specific details towards the problem and what computer specs you have. But that "error starting direct 3d 9 engine" is an error that pops up when you don't have DirectX installed and/or your card doesn't support it. Sounds like this is more of a case of user failure rather than software failure...
  10. Well it took many patches for OFP and ArmA to have this happen, which took a long period of time. However, I believe it will happen eventually. With ArmA II being so early in it's release, they aren't going to remove it for a while until the piracy issues have died down. You'll just have to take better care of your DVD.

    SP Mission: Sweep & Strike

I actually quite enjoyed this mission, especially designating targets for the Harriers. Leveled pretty much the entire Russian HQ with them. I have one suggestion though. Each objective was completed immediately after the condition for them was met, be it the last enemy soldier in the area or if both of the T90s were destroyed. This meant that it was very apparent to me that triggers were in use and were waiting on that last condition to be fulfilled. It also meant that the mission just abruptly ended once the second T90 was destroyed. To be honest I would have liked to see the smoldering wreckage left behind after the LGB hit it. :p It's not a necessary change, but it would be a welcome one in my opinion. Great mission.
  12. None the less, the crosshair should not be forced to be disabled in ArmA II. People who want to use it - use it. Those who don't want to use it - don't use it. There's no reason to force one or the other. At all. It's even ridiculous to suggest such a thing. Unless you want many more pissed off players...
  13. I'll let you in on a secret - the cheats that work in singleplayer also apply to the coop campaign. So if a mission isn't ending/progressing you can skip it using the endmission cheat, for example.
  14. Yeah, I found that just now, Spooner. Heh, sorry sholio. I guess the version Armaholic has on the website is outdated.
  15. Love the addon. The effect that HDR had with stars at night when wearing NVGs was really annoying. However, I have encountered a really odd bug. The addon works for all units apart from all of the Force Recon units on the BLUFOR side. I have no idea why, but it doesn't initialize for them.
  16. They have been working on the concept, "GAME 2", which has now been filled by ArmA II, since before ArmA's release. Since then it has undergone many, many obvious changes. Including the name of the game. ArmA was indeed a stop-gap between OFP and ArmA II that was almost a lesser version of ArmA II itself. QFT.
  17. That's really quite odd, I'm on an almost identical rig to that. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 and 2GB DDR2 RAM 1066MHz. I too run at close-to-full and always get between 20 - 90 FPS at 1440x900 (my native resolution). The only area I could see to be your issue is that you have 6GB of RAM and that your 64bit OS is giving you hassle.
  18. There really isn't much BIS can do about this guys. Game's already released, they're already patching it. They can't give you an internet connection or a boosted speed. While I understand the frustration, it's kind of odd to see this being posted now when it would have had more of a purpose before the release of the game.
  19. unit switchMove "AmovPsitMstpSlowWrflDnon"
  20. There is actually a significant part of the campaign that hints towards the expansion.
  21. If you've been playing the OFP series this long then what made you expect it not to be unfinished?

    RH heli sounds 1.01

I have encountered a bug with the FFAR sound. I was using a Cobra on manual fire and when I fired the FFARs the sound was not in time with the rockets. I'd be firing many rockets and I'd only hear the firing sound once every few seconds. And if I stopped firing before the sound finished, it just abruptly ended.

    FPS isn't everything...

Then you have something very, very wrong. I have a setup worse than yours and only when I've put over 1000 units on a map do I get framerates that low. Otherwise it's a silky smooth 20 to 80 or-so FPS.
  24. Well, I've had my ArmA II copy for almost a month now. To sum up what I think about it, all I need is one word: Awesome I'm an OFP/ArmA, and now ArmA II, veteran. I've been playing them since OFP's demo release way back when. And I've got to say, ArmA II's a great edition to the BIS series. To be perfectly honest, I didn't expect anything too special from ArmA II. It seemed really close after ArmA that it was coming out, but I suppose that was due to the 5 year waiting gap between OFP and ArmA. But not only did ArmA II meet my expectations, it surpassed them. I'm not denying the game is buggy, but I knew it would be. All of them have. And once we give BIS time to patch it with the help of the great community here, BIS' games become the best games I've ever played. And I've played through Harvest Red in singleplayer probably 4 times now to get different endings and I'm being completely serious when I say I haven't run into a game-breaking bug. Been perfectly smooth for me. With the mention of smooth, I'll talk about performance. First, my PC specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz nVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 2GB DDR2 RAM 1066MHz I run at my native resolution (1440x900) on full settings with 2km view distance. I get anywhere between 20 - 80 FPS with vertical sync disabled. I played ArmA for the majority of the time between it's release and ArmA II's release on a crappy laptop. Had to run it on almost lowest settings to barely scratch 25 FPS. So for me, anything over 15 FPS is easily playable. I wasn't expecting performance to be as good as ArmA in ArmA II on my new PC, but it's still pretty damn good. Now on to the gameplay. Personally, I can't even compare ArmA to ArmA II in this area. ArmA II just blows it out of the water, and it just keeps flying. The AI are a real challenge now, and not as large of a liability as they were in ArmA. I play with skills sliders set to full and Super AI turned on, and it's very impressive. The new animations are much more fluid, and I especially like how the soldiers actually move rather than just stand rigid. Gives them a sense of "life". The flight model is vastly improved, and I do like the new driving model. It's a cross between ArmA's and OFP's. It's quite nice. Another new feature I like is the new crash effects that aircraft have, switching models and leaving behind dirt trails based on their angle and velocity. In terms of modding/editing, there's a huge new world for us. New scripting commands, modules, and abilities. I really can't put all of it in this post, so I won't try. I'll just say that it's awesome, and I can't wait to take it all in. To sum it all up, I absolutely love ArmA II, and can't wait to spend 5, or maybe more years playing it. It's definitely the true successor to OFP in every form of the word. DR is no competition at all with ArmA II the way it is. If you're hesitating on whether or not to buy it, I'll offer some words of advice. If you're really impatient, want only a singleplayer experience and do not want to use any other features, do not buy it. If you are the opposite of that, then I 200% recommend you to it. You won't be disappointed. Yes, but the major reviewers, the ones that people listen to, such as PC Gamer are able to look past that. Look at the scores it's been getting. PC Gamer gave it 83%, for example. That's higher than what they gave OFP: CWC (80%). Though not as high as OFP: GOTY (90%). It's not unplayable at all. I think some people have no clue how to set up a PC or configure their game properly. Or they're expecting it to run flawlessly on a 3 year old PC...
