Yeah, I saw that before I posted. Even so, many people won't.

Lol @ "Genuine OFP community" Someone's just trying to start a flame war.
  3. They're beta patches. You expect something different?

I never said I wasn't going to buy the game. I'll try the demo, but if it's exactly what I think it is, then I won't buy it.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Of course I know the game has them. I'm not saying it doesn't. It's simply a gimmick, though. What I meant was, having them is not entirely "realistic". I have not seen many weapons in use around the world by USMC that have flashlights attached to them. @cjsoques That's not just it. The only reason for the discussion becoming more heated is people, like Mudkip on the previous page, are saying that DR will be more realistic than ArmA II when clearly it won't to anyone who's actually played the game. This discussion isn't that different from what it's like on the CM forums. Especially in the ArmA II thread. People there constantly "flung poo" at us as well when ArmA II was released. Really, it's fans of BIS games, on the BIS forum, getting angry at Codemasters for dumbing down a game to which the original they are fans of. It's no different from when R6 or GR went down the drain.

    *facepalm* I'll just report it...

Please show me something that proves that. FLIR is only 1 aspect, compared to ArmA II's 100+. And no, flashlights on weapons is not "more realistic".
  8. Some people just... Never really understand BIS' marketing ways. No matter how many times it's shown...
  9. I was playing in the Charlie Foxtrot battle tonight, and something I found quite humorous happened to me. An enemy BTR showed up and starting firing like hell at me. Just me, no one else around. I dropped behind a bush and they continued to fire it. I didn't get shot at all. Then they started to pound me with grenades, none of which hit me. Somehow they still managed to think I was alive after all of that, and started to take action. Stupid me went from prone to crouch and as soon as I did, all I saw was the front of the BTR smacking into me and sending me into a tree... ... Not my best moment.

Of course there will be negativity. Codemasters took the name which many of the members here are fans of, causing BIS serious money problems and having to create the ArmA series. Not only that, but they've come on to make OFPDR which, and I quote, they said would not be dumbed down. This was a while ago, granted, but they said it. And have said it many times since. But there's no denying it, it's watered down. And that's not what OFP fans want to see. It's a slap in the face to the original fan base and Codemasters deserve the ridicule they get as a result. I for one will see what it's like based on reviews and a demo, if there is one. If it's toted as nothing more than Call of Duty 4 with more freedom, I ain't touching it.

Who said the community is honest? It's strong, but not always honest. And that's walker... 'nuff said. Their community so far is not strong at all, and is not honest.

This is related to the game. Aren't communities a strong aspect of most games? It's the strongest aspect of BIS' games.

Wow, my respect for the DR community just sunk to an all-new low... And that's a scary thought. :butbut:

Lulz, since when did BIS leave the OFP series? Weren't they forced to lose the name because of the contractual disagreement between them and Codemasters? Yay for a grenade spammer playing it as well, apparently... Haha, it "owns" ArmA II? And he gives the game near perfect scores, claiming they've done it after playing two missions? Bah, why did I even waste my time reading that...

    Bad to Worse

Hey, I was only saying that you hadn't put any information what so ever on there about what your specifications were, the specifics of the problem, or the patch you were using. That quote you just showed me is vague, at best. I bet most people would not have made the connection. The beta patches install as a mod folder. That means you can enable them and disable them easily. They do not overwrite your install of v1.03. I suggested it as they have fixed many issues for many people, and it may have done the same for you. I'd suggest you download Fraps and see what your FPS is. A drop from 40 to 35 FPS is noticeable, but it's not a huge deal, for example. Some missions are also very hard on servers and local PCs, causing your FPS to decrease locally as well. Finally, what operating system are you using? There are issues that ArmA II has with all different operating above and including XP. Personally, I have the following PC: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM nVidia GeForce GTX 280 Windows XP Professional SP3 And my ArmA II (v1.03.58899) runs flawlessly on full settings at 2km VD. I almost always get above 30 FPS, and it never drops below 20 unless I'm recording a video with Fraps. See? With more information we're able to help you now. Unlike before where it looked as if all you were doing was having a rant in the Troubleshooting section, to which you should have posted in General for it to have been locked quicker. And screw off with your "dummy" and "smart arse" accusations. You're the one being uncooperative. :j:

    Bad to Worse

Are you using the beta patches? Or at least updated to the latest final patch? I don't know why people post their issues in the Troubleshooting forum and don't give us any information for us to help them with it. Guess they just come to complain and that's all. We'll find out this guy's trying to play it on a rig that can barely handle his BF2.
  17. User missions always go in the ...\ArmA 2\Missions folder, otherwise they will not show up.

    David Armstrong in Arma2

Yet another thread saying the exact same thing that was noticed when ArmA II was released 3 months ago. 1) Use a spoiler warning 2) Use the search function On topic, I doubt it's David Armstrong. Unless he changed voices and became a Marine. :butbut:

Well if it's a matter of taste then, with that taste in games, what the hell are you doing picking up a game entitled Operation Flashpoint? The biggest issue is the confusing messages Codemasters are sending. Operation Flashpoint means it should be a hardcore military simulator, but OFPDR is definitely not that, nor is it ever going to be. Like FarCry 2, the only similarity between it and it's predecessor is the name. And in the case of OFPDR, that is not a good thing.

    Ecp redux launched !!!

Question: Did you ask any of the makers of this content if you could mod it and re-release it? That includes the addon makers for the units and vehicles, the campaign and mission makers, and the original creators of ECP? My friend Rellikki does not recall giving you permission to use his tigerstripe guerillas addon (first picture), so there's one issue. I suggest that unless you have gotten permission from these authors, or can't get hold of them through many different means, you remove this to avoid issues. Also, 4 out of your pictures are over the forum limit of 100kb.

Red Dawn: Endgame Arma 2 Trailer

You two just made me think trini had released something new about this... -1 for digging up threads.
  23. For the same reason people also play modes like Evolution and Domination to death. If you know the basics of the game, they're accessible, easy and reward you with unlocks as you progress. In other words, the exact opposite of a military simulator. :D It'd be fine if they weren't the only modes being played...

I can't believe that post... Well, actually I can. I've met and talked to that guy before. He's the leader of the infamous "OFP2 Heroes" group. Basically, they're a bunch of "pretend moderators" trying to "help the OFP2 community". Yeah, it's that bad... Interesting the thinks he claims that no one points out ArmA II's flaws. I guess he hasn't seen the big-ass Troubleshooting and Suggestions sections on these forums.
