Indeed, I apparently get them forever too. So far, at least... Can't see anything about a 1 year subscription. Like the formatting, lol. :D But yeah, the AI is pretty damn bad, as you'll see in this test video. All I did was play through one of the unlockable missions - Encampment. Some weird AI actions in it...

I can confirm that it does. Just made a test video using it. Will upload to YouTube when finished. Now I can finally start that comparison video. :butbut: But 1 question: what, then, is going to be a worthy fix that will come with the first patch, if this already fixes it?

Given the entries to that video contest on their forum, and the people entering it, it'd be very easy for some of the ArmA II video makers to make a DR video and win. Not that the prizes are any great shakes, lol.

Something interesting that I appear to have found after playing around with daytime settings in the editor: At night, the moon doesn't move. At all. It's always in the same position. Given the way that the night is done in the game, this is the theory that I've come up with to explain this: It is literally daylight with PP effects applied over it. The moon is not actually the moon, it's the sun. Hence the incredible brightness of it. The PP effects just make it look more like a moon, though it still doesn't at all. It's more like a floodlight. And instead of making it have a second cycle, CM, naturally, took a shortcut, and just put it in one place. I'm sure if you were to set it to a time that was just before the moon is programed to change to the sun at dawn, you'd see the "moon" just suddenly disappear from the sky. Man alive, if that's what they actually did... That... I have no words to describe that...

Since when is night blue, and almost as clear as day? And since when has the moon been as bright as the sun, but seemingly projecting dark blue light instead? They certainly are epic. They're hollywood-esque. :butbut: Edit: Wait, no, even hollywood don't make it look so stupid.

Sorry, I don't really understand what you mean? I've seen maybe 5 people who are "fans" (for the moment) of DR that are fans of ArmA II. The DR fanbase is made up of three people: people who hated ArmA II, people who have never played/heard of ArmA II and people who only play on consoles. Edit: Ah, now you make sense. Still, you're wrong. The guy from PC Zone disliked OFP and appeared to have never played ArmA or ArmA II. So there's one review giving it an outrageously high score from someone who's not a fan of ArmA II.

Well, of course DR is going to get better reviews. You only have to look at the advertising bombardment for it on all the different gaming websites to see that CM has friends in high up places. Doesn't make it the better game. Not by far. Also, you haven't said anything about me voiding your original point. What matters is what the fans think of the game, as they are the ones who will keep it alive. Not some random reviewer, who half the time has benefited from giving a game a high score in some way or another.

Uh, what? ArmA II was released this year... Edit: You're not looking at the PC version then. The one that, at the end of the day, matters the most for that game.

Yeah, and look at the user score for DR: 6.2. ArmA II's is 7.7. Says a lot indeed.

One more interesting thing about the Xfire stats that I just remembered. Xfire only fully supports the Steam version of ArmA II, and requires a "hack" to get it to recognize the other versions. So obviously it's going to have a lower number of hours played. Still no way of measuring the game.

OpF:DR TOP 10 ON XFIRE!!! - Codemasters Forum What's with everyone making claims that DR is better because of Xfire stats compared to ArmA II's? I guess the more people that play it, the better the game is. Also, his typing skills made me chuckle a little. :D

It is confirmed to not be free roaming, be it in SP or MP. There are invisible walls in SP, and a 2km^2 limit in MP. The missions included with the game are also broken if you don't follow the exact waypoints that are set out, kinda defeating the purpose of free roaming. Yet you bought DR, found out it's not what you were hoping for, and still liked it. You hoped that ArmA II wasn't buggy, I presume? And it too turned out to not be what you were hoping for? As stated many times, BIS will be working on patches as always for both games. Neither will be delayed because of the other. Plus, OA will include fixes and improvements that you might not get in ArmA II, be it in the form of functioning FLIR, random town generation scripts, or working IR lights. And in my personal opinion, ArmA II is definitely worth the money. If not for the modding or seemingly endless possibilities, then it's simply more worth the money than DR has turned out to be.

Yeah, I just tried doing what Luhgnut posted but set them to Elite instead. Exactly the same outcome is possible. Here's a sig that I made of it:

I saw the AI do something very similar to what happened to you at the end, Luhgnut. I thought it was just a one off thing, like some of the quirks in ArmA II's AI, but apparently not. It's hilarious how you actually moved him that little bit and he still didn't notice you. :D

  16. I say go ahead, it'd be interesting to see what the island looks like in ArmA II. Just make sure it's legal for you to do so, of course. The island's boring really, but I look forward to being able to see if it looks any better in ArmA II.

uS-K5ujAzAM Has anyone actually been able to get past this mission? I've played it 3 times through now and it still won't end. That damned helicopter keeps circling. No matter what I do.

Can anyone give me a heads up of any good video recording software that works with DR, since Fraps doesn't? I tried ZD Soft but I don't find it's quality options to be good enough. Really want to make that comparison video.
  19. Eugh, not this again... Here's one, here's another, and one more.

What's making me feel sad is that more and more and more people on the CM forums who are defending DR are stating that CM were the makers of OFP. :(

It took me a total of 8 bullets with my SCAR to destroy the helicopter's rotor and cause it to crash and explode. EIGHT bullets...

I find it really annoying the way that Codemasters made you switch fire modes and ammunition types with weapons. You can't cycle through ammunition types as every time you get to a grenade ammunition type you have to wait for it to reload that grenade before you can switch to another type. There's also no visual indication apart from a changing image in the lower right to show you changing fire modes as since Hardcore mode removes that image, you have to shoot to know what fire mode your gun is in. God, the design errors are everywhere...

Well, I have now reached a mission in the campaign that won't end because the helicopter refuses to land, despite the area being completely cleared of enemy APCs and infantry. Just sits there and flies around in a circle. Ordering my team to enter it does nothing. I figured it was a one time thing, restarted the mission, played through it all over again, and the same issue happened. I think I'll stop playing the campaign now...

You guys seen this yet? That just proves that CM had no idea what they were doing, since they are very happy with the reaction the game has been getting. Yet that reaction shows console gamers lapping it up, and PC gamers upping and leaving. Talk about having no idea who you're wanting to please...

You know, if you had phrased your post a little less hostile then I would have actually listened to it and, who knows, we may have had a mature discussion of the topic. Take Soul_Assassin's post as an example of how you should have posted. However, your repeated slagging off of everyone else and their opinion in your post immediately removes all credibility for what you are saying. People have a right to their opinion and just because it disagrees with yours doesn't make it wrong. Game's working brilliantly on my end. Try again. ;)
