  1. Yes, but as soon as BIS start spending more time and money on advertising, people will start to complain about less time spent developing and fixing the games. I'd rather BIS make a great game than have some great advertising. A recent game showed just how badly that can backfire on you...
  2. Well, I'll be honest with you Kello. I didn't see you advertising this anywhere. Maybe I just didn't see it, or perhaps you advertised it incorrectly. Where did you post about this? And when? You have a link to it? Can't believe that if you did inform us about it that there was no response. You can see that people like Salah ad Din are definitely interested, as would I be. That is, if you did advertise it.

DICE pays attention to PC Gamers, apparently

Wow! God, I want that. They're releasing it as a public beta? I friggen hope so. Definitely going to try it if it is.
  5. I think they would have actually made quite a substantial amount. Of course, in comparison to the mainstream market, it's probably nowhere close. I bet they made more than ArmA did, but I'm not sure if they made more than OFP did. Unlike other developers, however, they deserve every cent.

Lol, the new free-roaming maps included in the DLC, called "Island Tour" day & night, are apparenlty, well... Read this. I can't do it justice. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=395126 I mean wow. They charged console players so that they can run around an empty map in the day and the night? Man, I need to get into game developing! Codemasters are officially my worst developer ever.
  7. Ah ok. Yes, I agree with you. I have yet to see a server running the Devastation map, and the times I have played it in private, it's awesome. People are just so wanting of their Domination or Evolution fixes that it gets shunned like every other MP map. It's very unfortunate. Again, however, someone should have a server like I mentioned earlier. That way, everyone looking for something else, would have somewhere to go.

Yes, CM don't deserve him, to be honest. I really hope that he doesn't decide to help them given how it's basically saying "we can't do it right, you do it better, so you do it yourself, and we'll make the cash".

Is ARMA 2 better than OFP?

The animations themselves in OFP are not better than ArmA II's. However, the system is. The system makes them much more responsive and fluid in OFP. OFP was therefore much more suitable for smaller PvP modes like TDM and DM. It's not impossible to play them in ArmA II, of course, it was just significantly better playing them in OFP.
  10. If you're talking about people trying to get BIS to impose limits on mission makers, then that doesn't even deserve to be heard due to how ridiculous and ignorant it is. If they were to even know what ArmA II is about outside of MP, they would know that the freedom makes the game what it is. Imposing limits on that freedom would only hinder BIS, not help it. To answer the OP - it's mainly because of bad server administration, along with most people favoring non-teamwork maps. Ones that reward you for points, like Evolution. While that is perfectly fine in games like COD4 and BF2, that's not what should be as overdone in ArmA II as it is. The best way to *start* to fix it is as NkEnNy said on the previous page - there need to be servers dedicated to hosting only good, small coop maps that encourage teamwork. Otherwise we'll be stuck with what is there.
  11. Well, of course that will happen. You have scripted that turbo option to make the vehicle go at super speeds. The handling physics kind of screw up when that happens, hence why you can't turn easily. Well, actually, it just screws the physics up completely.

Is ARMA 2 better than OFP?

Uh, it is. Just not by name. It's by the same dev team, more or less. And serves the same purpose.

    wow

Good to see another person discovering the greatness of this game. I believe the Advance command is the only real way to do this. You could put your squad into a Vee Formation. That's about as close as you're going to get it, though.

Is ARMA 2 better than OFP?

OFP is the better game for me. Of course, that doesn't mean I think ArmA or ArmA II are bad. I've had far better and far more experiences in OFP than I have in ArmA and ArmA II combined. Plus, the fact that it was the first, and most revolutionary out of the series. It introduced me to PC gaming, and I've stayed with it ever since. Tech-wise, of course ArmA and ArmA II beat it. But in terms of all-around greatness, OFP is unbeaten. If it wasn't for the majority of the community moving on to ArmA and then ArmA II, I'd still be playing and modding for OFP. And still enjoying it as much as ever.

Something positive I can take away from that DLC trailer is that they're using the same music as in the launch trailer. All of their other trailers for the game had different music playing. Hopefully, that means their budget is dwindling fast. And to be frank, that DLC looks weak, even for DLC. I feel sorry for anyone who actually wants to get it.

I found something interesting: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=394526 Is it just me, or are the PC gamers not getting the same fixes that console players are? Nice job Codemasters. You just blew off your main fanbase for money. I hope you are happy, because no one else is.

    Dragon Rising has been released

LOL! It would appear it has. Man alive, Codemasters should just abandon this. Denying the community any modding access apart from mission editing is incredibly laughable. Plus, that won't stop cheaters. Most run their cheats through external programs I'd imagine. This patch isn't going to fix the game. Unless they actually make a 2nd one, which I'll be very surprised, this game will die.

I think somehow, someone should really try to shut Codemasters up. Every new video they're releasing is full of lies. Still. Even though their "fans" hate the game right now, as well as them, due to so many lies. Yet they're gonna keep pumping it out. It's really pissing me off, I'll admit. Also, these videos must have been recorded before release. It's the only way that they can possibly still think that any of their "fans" will make missions that are really "complex". No one cares any more, and I really hope that Codemasters have not yet recovered what they spent developing the game. I seriously hope that they suffer financially.

Well, against the entries so far - yes. Edit: Which appear to have been removed. God, they'll be lucky if they get any at all for this.

What he said. Have you guys noticed the Intel Mission Contest? Sorry if it's been posted here, lost track of this thread's progression. Look at the contest requirements: One question: how on earth do you put an objective into the mission in relation to the I7? Unless it's "Go out and buy the I7 processor from Intel". I guess that was the only way to get Intel to agree to such a farce. It's quite funny just to look at it. Guess CM are still trying to milk it.
  21. First, I don't recommend flaming a moderator, lol. Second, not everyone agrees with you there. Well, let me rephrase that. I don't agree with you. I could not stand the fact that ACE took over ArmA's MP scene after it's release. It made me incredibly bored of ArmA. I did not like the mod at all. So in my opinion, it is not what ArmA should have been. We have yet to see what it will be like in ArmA II. And no offense is meant towards the ACE developers. You guys put in great amounts of effort and are adored by the community. It just wasn't my favorite mod, like it is for 90% of the other players. :)

It's quite enjoyable to watch Codemasters dig themselves a bigger and bigger hole. I have never heard of a game developer that does such things. If your opinion of the game is not "pro-DR" on their forums, apparently, they don't want you there. Not even if you have an issue with the game not working. So not only are Codemasters ruining the OFP name with Dragon Rising itself, but they're tarnishing it's reputation by making it synonymous with trigger-happy moderators and cheap marketing tricks that only the most desperate of companies would use. Given the rumors of a WB Games takeover of Codemasters, I wonder if that's the reason for such inappropriate conduct. They just continue to falsely advertise the game, and I only hope that someone ends up giving them exactly what they deserve.

    build 59857 error

Make sure your shortcut points to the arma2.exe in the beta folder, as well as loading the beta folder as a mod. That's why you're getting that error. One or the other isn't done properly.

    Black screenshots

It's a common issue in many games, not just ArmA II. I don't know what causes it, and I don't think anyone does. Use Fraps to fix it, works perfectly.
