Heh, awesome find. Quite hilarious. I must say though, I'm enjoying the game a lot more than I initially thought I would.

Eugh... So every game that isn't a mil-sim sucks, eh? Well, that limits your game selection to... 3 games. OFP, ArmA and ArmA II. Have fun with that...

You don't seem to understand what the Call of Duty series is, Walker... I don't think I've ever seen COD4 in a bargain bin. Or WaW for that matter. There are millions of other people loving the game. Every person I know who owns it, which is almost everyone I know, loves it. There may be people whining on the internet, but that is puny in comparison to the total number of customers. But contrary to your opinion, I think it's a great game. If you haven't gathered that already. Edit: Jesus Christ! Check out the stats on Xfire. I know that Xfire isn't to be used to show how good a game is, but wow. MW2's multiplayer has been played almost as much as COD2's in the span of... what? 2 days? Wow... I wonder if that's accurate. Seems pretty incredible to be true.

I must give props to IW for the way they did the credits. Very original and fun to watch. :D

Patch was crap, game was crap, developers are crap, community is crap... It's crap in general. Let's leave it at that.

Might want to tone down the flaming a bit. CM are terrible developers and are terrible at communication. DR has exposed this once and for all. There is no way, at all, that you can argue against this. It is simply terrible. What's wrong with hating a game that took many peoples' money, promising them certain features, not delivering them, and then being completely abandoned by the developers? In my opinion, that's easily grounds to hate a game. Hardly "silly"... You can't really distinguish management and developers with DR, since CM both published and developed the game. Unlike, say, MW2, where it's very likely a lot of the cuts from it were a decision by the publisher, Activision, and not InfinityWard. Don't quote me on that last bit, though. Therefore, the cuts are there because CM either didn't want them, or were too lazy to implement them, since they are the only ones involved in the developing of the game. It's solid grounds to hate on a developer for taking a title with such a reputation as Operation Flashpoint and driving it into the ground. Average games are hardly worth money when there are many higher quality titles out there. This was just construed to fool people into thinking it was a high quality title, and people expected it giving the name's reputation.. So don't say that we can only be positive about the game, and can't complain about it:
-
Yeah, while I thought the sequence was awesome, it was really too much button mashing to make it happen. Was wondering when the hell it was going to finally work...
-
That's. What the game. Is about. Exactly what I'm wondering. It makes no sense to complain about something which delivers on what it promises...

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
Zipper5 replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I use both the ironsights and scopes, and I play in some pretty competitive maps. And I do quite well in them. However, I do not play with floating zone. Again, for reasons of competing. -
People got upset by the removal of dedicated servers, amongst other removals in the MP side of things. Now, the same people have the game, but something is different. People are viewing the game through shit-tinted spectacles. By the removal of these features, people are trying to point out every other single flaw with the game, even criticizing what is a clear action-filled corridor shooter... Of being an action-filled corridor shooter! Some of you people make no sense what so ever. To be honest, I'm loving MW2's MP, even with the restrictions imposed on it. In fact, I'm enjoying it more than COD4's. If a free-for-all map in COD4 was to have about 20 players, the game is nothing but a spawn-rape fest. Especially on Creek. With lower players, I'm actually finding it to be more intense. More fun. But jesus, saying the SP is bad? The COD4 plot was quite ridiculous as well. But did people hate on it for that? No. In fact, people regarded it as one of the best SP portions of a game ever made. Even with it's short length. I did too. So what, suddenly it being full of action, short but intense story and awesome multiplayer that has had some things removed from it makes it an utterly shit game? Even though it builds on the great features of COD4? The ones disappointed with the game either 1) set out to hate it or 2) do not like the genre. It is a shining example of the FPS genre. An awesome game.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx

Nope, you're not seeing things. [60090] Fixed: Improved vehicles and motorcycles driving. Probably helps the AI a lot. -
As far as I know, the last Call of Duty game made by IW to use the Quake 3 engine was Call of Duty 2. They developed their own, new engine for use in COD4, and it's now been used in WaW, and MW2. However, COD4 and WaW had dedicated servers, so I doubt it'll be hard for them to implement them, still. Or maybe I'm completely wrong.
-
Maybe that's how they're responding to the factory defect issue? Where one of the discs is not working properly? Pretty logical way of fixing it.
-
What action-orientated form of entertainment isn't almost always stupid? Lol. The plot may be a bit far fetched, but it makes for an extremely exhilarating campaign that will make you want to play through it more than once. Just like the first Modern Warfare did for me. It isn't that hard to understand, either, once you actually play through it.
-
Well yeah, since when has an internet petition ever worked?
-
Uh, yeah there is.

I agree that the price is pretty damn high. It's not that high for me over here, however, due to many "economic" reasons, so it's not been an issue for me. Though I do agree it's far too high for the majority of customers. Also - vilas: it's not just for kids. Kids aren't the only ones who play it. It's got a pretty damn mature theme to it. I'd actually say it has a more mature one than ArmA II's story does, but less realistic gore. Case & point - the "controversial" level, as well as many other undisclosed events in the game.
-
That's a shame. That part was one of many extremely gut-wrenching points in the campaign. Even more so than the Aftermath level from COD4. Absolutely incredible way of telling the story. In my opinion.

Man, people seem to just completely write off games just because they're not realistic, or are too cinematic, or anything like that. Well, thankfully, I'm not one of those people. I bought MW2 on the PC and PS3. I only have the PS3 version so far as the PC version won't be unlocked on Steam for me until Thursday. I've pre-loaded it, though. And I'll tell you - the single player is the best campaign I have ever played. Full stop. It's literally incredible how awesome it is. And to top that off, you then have Special Ops mode where you play competitive maps with one other friend, in this case it was my brother. Man, these too are awesome. I have yet to try MP as it got released yesterday, a day early, for me over here. Thus there was a total of 25 games. However, I have to see what the MP will be like in terms of latency for me due to my location before I can say if it's good or not despite the absence of dedicated servers. I can only hope that it's just as good as the SP, or better. Yes, the game has lived up and surpassed the hype. Those of you too stubborn to "sell out" because of whatever reason it is, dedicated servers, arcade elements, etc., are missing out on a truly amazing title. I strongly recommend that you put aside those grievances and try it. Then again, if you don't have an open mind to these games, then I wouldn't recommend it.
-
Why, with such a negative backlash in regards to DR, would you even expect someone to try it before disliking it? That's just wasting money. Anyone can tell from the general consensus around the internet that DR is a bad game. Sure, there's the whole "try it out yourself and see if you enjoy it", but paying full price for such a game and disliking it leaves you less wealthy by about $40. Complete waste of money.
-
Well, I've been playing MW2 for pretty much the last 3 hours straight with my brother in the Special Ops mode. It's absolutely awesome. My brother is also playing through the SP campaign, and so far, it too is awesome. It's longer than the first as well. Can't be bothered trying out the MP on the PS3 as it gets really bad reception where it is and is always laggy.
-
Brother got the game for the PS3 today. I can tell you that, so far, those of you who want it only for the SP due to the MP restrictions, you won't be disappointed. It bests the first game, and I haven't even finished it yet. Completely awesome.
-
Well, that's what you get for being interested in PC gaming. Go with consoles if that's too much for you. I'm thinking about replacing my GTX 280 in the next year or so myself, and I've only had it for a year and a half.

I think it's because most review sites are sugar coating the game immensely. By people venting more and more of their rage towards the game and the developer, it shows to many that the game is no where near as good as reviews are saying it is. While that will be a very small number of people in comparison, every little helps. I'd do it just so that I can try to make sure Codemasters make very few sales after release. They don't deserve any money for producing such a shitty game. By voicing the flaws of the game more publicly, it gets it known to more people. Of course, that's a very small number of people, as I said before.

Why are public games in ArmA II so terrible?
Zipper5 replied to Chunk3ym4n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Wow. I had no idea. :butbut: Well, I'm very surprised that there was so little response to such a thing. I'd be happy to admin it if you needed me to. Just so long as the PvP maps are good, and that there is also the possibility to use good coop maps.
