Too many. :butbut: Not as much as I put into OFP or ArmA... Yet. Xfire recorded my total hours played of ArmA as over 200, but I definitely played it much more than that. OFP I played for, well, 5 years. :D Edit: Goddamnit Binkowski! Now it looks like I copied you...

Blurred game and menu bars
Zipper5 replied to commander jao's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Are you sure you're running the game at your native resolution? For whatever reason it may have reverted to something like 800x600. It happens. Make sure your resolution is where it should be in the video options. -
Ah yes, the infamous Oscar-Mike-syndrome. That "other game" gave it to me. I found the pacing pretty damn good. In fact, you're the first person I've heard say that they don't like the pacing. But true, I much preferred the Ranger levels to the Task Force 141 ones. But that's largely because of where the Rangers actually end up fighting. However, I did like the reunion towards the end. Lots of connections to COD4 thrown in by IW.

There might not be much wrong with this specific example, but the real issue lies in the suits constantly saying that video games are causing the world's problems. You know, not nuclear weapons, oil & gas supplies or arms trade. It's all video games. That's the real issue. And it's just getting ridiculously out of hand at the moment. People are becoming far too "politically correct", as they call it now. You need a certain level of political correctness for it to be morally acceptable, but they're taking it way too far now.

My God, you're like the 50th person to post that... It's not even that funny. I actually find the Onion quite... Lame.

Arma II is going on the shelf...
Zipper5 replied to IrishDeviant's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Such people whom say "azz" and only seem to care about the visual aspects of a game are best left in the dark. Especially when they start to complain about a lack of developer support without even noticing that the developer is releasing a patch a month, at the least. -
The argument that video games are negatively influencing us, giving us homicidal thoughts and leading to an increase in murders and violence, is simply from the people who are too lazy to actually solve the real problems, and instead use video games as a scapegoat. That's how it's always been, that's how it always will be. They are video games. They are a form of entertainment, just like a movie, or a book. The real issue lies in humanity's co-existence, or lack thereof. Not video games.

Meh, it's a Codemasters game. It'll be mediocre at best.

[SP] The Cause 2 - Mission Beta Tests
Zipper5 replied to rejenorst's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
I was using v1.04.60295, which is one of the beta patches. I'd recommend you using them, Rejenorst, when making your missions. They change quite a bit, especially in terms of how the AI act. They'll probably stay this way in future patches, if not improve. So building your missions around the improved AI will make them work better in future patches. Just a suggestion. -
BIS have said in the past that it is possible that Operation Arrowhead/ArmA II will be their last game in the military simulator genre. Therefore I doubt we'll ever see a new military simulator from them based around a new engine. Personally, I identify BIS' games with their engine, as it has that certain "feel" to it. So I wouldn't want them to change it. Alas, I doubt they ever will.

[SP] The Cause 2 - Mission Beta Tests
Zipper5 replied to rejenorst's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
No. If he continues the way it happens right now, there's no way to restrict the player's head movement. All BIS did was restrict you from going in to 3rd person. They're animations that now involve appropriate head FOVs and movement, unlike in previous BIS games. Rejenorst won't be able to restrict where your head moves. -
What's interesting is that ubermachtig and ZaRiF215 are both part of the Heroes. Alas, that's bordering on discussing how their forums are moderated...

Why are public games in ArmA II so terrible?
Zipper5 replied to Chunk3ym4n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Well, I played for about another 2 hours after school today, joining a few different public servers, and I still have yet to see this common-found teamwork that's supposedly available to you in Project Reality public servers. It's a fun game, hence why I have put so much time into it. But it's far from being the teamwork godsend that people keep making it out to be. Perhaps I've just been having different experiences, but the idea was that public games in ArmA II were bad and they're better in PR, which has turned out to be false for me. -
Is it possible to play Arma 2 without the DVD?
Zipper5 replied to imatic's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Use the lastest beta patch. It does not have any DVD checks. Any other ways, I believe, are illegal and not supported in any way by BIS. -
Why are public games in ArmA II so terrible?
Zipper5 replied to Chunk3ym4n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
I did. I spent many hours downloading it, along with the 1.5 patch for BF2, which took 4 retries before it worked. Once I had my miserable experience I went and searched the net for tips on how to play. I found very little. I then tried many other servers with higher numbers of players, but it was still exactly the same. I managed to get into one with one person using voice communication, but he left soon. I must have tried 30 servers already, and I've played it easily for over 5 hours. But the thing people keep saying is that public play in PR is better than ArmA II's. So far, it's worse. In my experience, at least. I haven't given up yet, it's just not as impressive so far as people keep making it out to be. -

Here's a mirror on Filefront, courtesy of Cole: http://www.filefront.com/14966689/TC2M0beta4.rar I just completed the mission and I must say that things are looking extremely positive. Encountered a few issues: Other than those, nothing else to report. I really enjoyed it a lot. I look forward to seeing the rest of it. :D -
Why are public games in ArmA II so terrible?
Zipper5 replied to Chunk3ym4n's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
I'm very surprised that people keep saying to play Project Reality if you want teamwork in a public game. I got enticed by such claims and decided to download it since I still have my Battlefield 2: Deluxe Edition sitting in the closet. All I can say is - wow. What a waste of my time, and over 4GB of HDD space. There is about as much teamwork in their public servers as there is in ArmA II's. The maps are huge and there are hardly enough people playing them to fill them out. I also have yet to see anyone using voice communication. Already, I am bored of it. In fact, I would go as far to say that PR is worse than ArmA II from my experiences so far. Sure I may not have found the right servers or something, but that's exactly the same arugement being used in favor of ArmA II. So it's no better. -

Wow. I can't believe I missed this. Downloading now! Edit: Goddamn you RapidShare! Any chance you could get up another mirror? RapidShare does not like to work for me. -
What the? My posts on the DR forums only show up if I'm logged in. Otherwise they're not there. What? They have a post-approval requirement now or something? Guess they don't want anything bad sad about the game anymore. I wonder when they'll just throw in the towel. Hopefully soon.

If I recall correctly, you have an option to take two weapons, two of either a pistol, rifle or launcher, then you can take the ammunition from the unit if you have the appropriate weapons, and then you have an option that "takes all", which takes everything that he's got on him. I'm surprised people get stuck in the looting screen. I never did. It's been a while since I played it, so I can't remember what I did differently to get out of it, if anything. Edit: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?t=397124 My God, that made me laugh. :D Apparently we have to tell CM exactly what we want them to do. As if CM has no idea what's wrong with their game. I'm sure they know full well what's wrong with it now, and what was wrong with it before it was even released.

Well, I've finally updated Loose Ends to v1.02. Check the first post for further details. Lol, more like 10 different ways to look identical to how they did before. :p

Their shaking-eyed, weird-mouthed, emotionless faces. :D

The biggest "elitist snob" of the DR community, Sir_Polaris, said that. Good riddens that he got disowned by the very company he so naively supported. I can't believe someone who likes a brand name such as OFP, which is synonymous with it's community, just said that he doesn't need a community. Even more ironic is that he was the biggest DR community supporter. What a hypocrite. The remnants of the DR community are now holding out for this fabled "fix all" patch. Helios said it was big, and everyone now thinks it's going to solve all of DR's problems. I'll be surprised if they even release another patch. It would be a rarity from Codemasters...

ArmA and VBS2 both run on VirtualReality2. OFP runs on VirtualReality1, and ArmA II runs on VirtualReality3. VBS2 has a modified version of VirtualReality2 though, I'd imagine, due to all the things VBS2 does and ArmA doesn't, but it's mostly the same.
