Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64
Zipper5 replied to roberthammer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Oh ffs, this argument again... ArmA II is a hundred times more complex than DR, and a thousand times more complex than Far Cry 2. Far Cry 2 may have the graphics, and DR might have the performance, but neither have very much substance. ArmA II is chocked full of substance. It calculates millions of different things very quickly and dynamically, which neither Far Cry 2 nor DR do. It also streams, in real time, a huge island with as much stuff going on it as your PC can handle. Far Cry 2 and DR can't, and will never be able to do this. Seriously, you sound like you'd be much more happy with consoles. One thousand-Dollar-upgrade every 3 years and you can play everything. Don't expect the same with PCs for anything other than console ports. But let's get back on topic, shall we? -

Simply put - yes. If you buy games expecting them to run perfectly on your current hardware all the time, then you should go to consoles. PCs ain't for you. Especially if you want ArmA II's performance to be on-par with a console port like DR. /offtopic -
Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64

But, like ArmA before it, seany, ArmA II will run amazingly on future hardware. What gets me 40 to 60 FPS in ArmA II right now, got me over 100 FPS in ArmA before it. You just got to be patient. ;) -
Well, you also have: DR = couple of shitty maps (that you have to pay for on consoles) ArmA II = Eagle Wing + AH64 + huge patch + for free Again, 'nuff said.

Wow. Just... Wow... BIS - you are awesome. No one matches your level of support. -
OFP3 should be ArmA III. That's my opinion. The name should be stripped from anything related to Codemasters.

Time for Bis to allow language change to English - agree?
Zipper5 replied to Richey79's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I still don't understand why people buy the German version, when an English version is very clearly on sale, and complain about the lack of languages other than German... Guess people are too quick to throw down their money. It'd still be nice for BIS to add it, however. Though I still don't foresee it happening. You sure about that? As far as I know, the German DVDs have different language-related .pbos than all the other versions do. You wouldn't get an English version if you had a key for one. -
You do realize that ACE2 is not officially supported by BIS, and therefore you should be asking such questions in the appropriate thread rather than the General section? It seems a lot of people have been thinking ACE2 is supported by BIS, given the number of new threads related to it...

Perhaps I should put some context to my posts. I actually live in the Middle-East. Qatar, to be precise. Google it if you don't know where it is. I have met many people from many different nations, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Fuel prices here are low as hell, as is oil, but they make billions, if not trillions off of it (the Qatari Government, that is). You know what the interesting thing is? All of them have not once said that they support the insurgency in their country, nor the terrorist cells. They want the Coalition countries to help rebuild their countries, and do not believe that the insurgents or the terrorist groups are fighting to benefit their country. They support the Coalition Forces/NATO more than they support these people. In this scenario, from what I've seen, a very small portion of the population of these countries support these groups. The term "one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter" does not really apply anymore. I don't know if it's deliberate, but what? Are you talking about bin Laden or something? Who lost 300 people? I don't think you've even watched any of the news regarding these two conflicts. You certainly don't sound like it. And what real fight? Guerrilla warfare is a real fight? Seriously, stop posting stuff just for the sake of posting it to stir up conflict. You seem to know nothing about what you post. Edit: I also know many Indians too, and I'm very surprised that you are supporting these insurgents and terrorists given what goes on in your country. I don't think many of your fellow countrymen would like what you're saying here.

I'd like to see you say what you just posted to any US servicemen former and serving, King Don. See what kind of reaction you'd get from them.

And you're having difficulty grasping just how little of an impact having a flag pole in this man's yard is having on the lives of his neighbors. Seriously, the flag is having such a bad impact on the aesthetic view of the neighborhood? To me it sounds like they're living in the wrong country if they're that hostile to it's own flag. I mean Jesus! What asshole bitches about a 90 year old war veteran and Medal of Honor recipient wanting to display his country's flag on a proper flag pole? There is no other definition for a person like that. It's heartless. Let the man have his flag pole for the last few years of his life, it's the least that the American people can do for him. Then you can remove it if it's such a huge goddamn deal. Thank God they backed off. (And I'm Canadian by the way, since I realized this sounds pro-American.)

Zipper5 replied to Richey79's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
That doesn't just stop the contract. BIS would need to ask Morphicon about it, and given how Morphicon forced the German release to be as bad as it was, I wouldn't be surprised if they say no. Again, this is if this is actually the right scenario. -

Zipper5 replied to Richey79's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I'm pretty sure this is a contractual issue between Morphicon (the German publisher) and BIS, so I doubt it will be changed. Go blame Morphicon for it if that's the case. I don't think there will be anything BIS can do to fix it, legally. But if that's not really the case, then: /Signed -
A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta!
Zipper5 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Again, he has the latest version, the server is not updated. There's nothing that you can do about it I'm afraid, apart from notifying the server admins of the update. -
There is justice in this world. Great to hear.

^ This. It's the close to the worst possible thing they could have done with the OFP name. The worst would probably be having it as a completely different genre, like, you know, a racing game, for a racing game engine... It's utterly pathetic in my eyes. Never going to touch something from Codemasters again.
-
Copy my stance is actually listed in the GUI as Keep low, and does not force them in to prone when you're prone. Tell them specifically to go prone, and they will stay prone. It's hardly a workaround, it's common sense, and if you played OFP and loved it, then I don't see how you don't know that telling them to go prone forces them into a prone position. Also, having them in Danger and Stealth mode makes them look after themselves, thus they will move to where they see fit for that combat mode. The shouting is to inform the AI of when they're covering or moving. The enemy AI won't hear it, nor will enemy human players. It doesn't sound like an issue with the game, it sounds like a bad squad leader.

ARMA II Beta Builds Released: Latest version/build: 1.04.6xxxx
Zipper5 replied to mattxr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Well, that will only because you either left the part of your target line in "" the same as default, or forgot to add -mod=beta to your shortcut. If you're using a launcher, I recommend Alpinestar's. You simply launch it, check the beta folder and make sure "Use beta *.exe" is selected under settings. It only takes a few seconds to read the install instructions, Drew. -
Thanks, Deadfast! :D Bit of trivia, but for those of you who don't already know, Karel Mořický is Str/Gaia. Just a random thought that popped into my head.

I'm curious as to when this mythical second patch will come out. It's supposedly much larger than the first patch, but whether that means simply filesize or content is yet to be seen. Personally, I think it will be filesize. Something will be wrong with the resolutions of the splash images in the game. Can't believe they left such an issue go unfixed.
-
I'd say that the only way you'll see an improvement there is by upgrading your processor and/or your graphics card. However, since it's a laptop, it might be very difficult for you to do so, if not impossible. If that's the case then there's not much you can do, unfortunately. Go for a desktop next time. ;)

His description of his mission: I highly doubt that I have never seen it before, and that it's anywhere near "intense".

Really? A crosshair for a "realistic" sim?
Zipper5 replied to teach's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I don't know why this thread remains open. The same things have been said over and over, and there are still people trying to ruin it for others by removing them completely. The solution is simple - play with them disabled if you don't like them, play with them enabled if you do. We don't need to restrict it for one or the other. That's just selfish. -
I've also considered in the past joining the Canadian forces, and I'm 16 as well. However, I've also already got GCSE qualifications and am currently doing A-Level. If I ever was to decide to join the military, I'd probably go to the RMCC and get Officers training, along with other college/university qualifications. Opens up a lot more possibilities, and not necessarily lethal ones too. I can respect that you don't think such young people should want to join the military, vilas, but don't 1) tell him what he should do with his own life and 2) turn this discussion into a political debate, you're not the first person to say what you're saying. He's simply considering it and asking for advice.

What? I believe his name is Colonel Van T. Barfoot. Unless I'm missing something.
