Well, I guess CM realized that they weren't making any significant profit off of DR anymore so they decided to drop all of the bombshells and announce that they themselves screwed everyone. Hopefully there will be no DR2 after this... If there is a God... :butbut:
-
It becomes painstakingly obvious post-release how many previewers were bought by CM to praise the game. Oh well, it was during the economic recession after all. It did sucker a lot of people into buying the game, however, which is just wrong. CM display some of the worst business practices I have seen in a long time.

Depends on the situation at hand. 99% of the time I go with my trusty AK-74 and RPG-7, with a Makarov. That will get you through almost everything the game can throw at you.

Do not go into a game like ArmA II, or even ArmA & OFP for that matter, expecting something similar to RSV or COD titles. Those are FPS games, ArmA II/ArmA/OFP are military simulators. Their style of gameplay is too different. One thing about those other titles is that they're pick up and play titles. Anyone can do it if they've played even just one game before. BIS' games are not like that, not by a long shot. I remember when I first started playing OFP way back when, and getting my ass handed to me. Now, I know almost every trick in the book, lol. It just takes practice. ;)

All these fans of the original OFP hating ArmA II. Many of the people who remained here disliked ArmA and dislike ArmA II because they feel that there wasn't enough improvement made between them and the original OFP. People over there hate it because Yet 3 of the 4 are vastly improved between OFP and ArmA II. Simply put, they hated it but loved the original OFP because they expected a game like DR as a sequel to OFP - something that was radically different in every way, and because they began to play OFP closer to the v1.96 days. Not even based on the same engine. That is something I would apply to most of the current generation of gamers, especially on consoles. If they were true fans of OFP, then they would see the improvements in the AI, the multiplayer, and performance. I mean, if you compare ArmA II's performance on current generation PCs to OFP's performance on PCs that were there in it's time, ArmA II runs 1000x better. That's a fact. I ran OFP at 20 FPS on my first desktop, which was mid to high range at the time.

Start the mission again with your friend, and both of you use the ENDMISSION cheat. Since you've already completed it, that will take you to the next mission. -
OFP2 let me down; I'm hoping Arma2 won't be the same.

Uh... Read the OP much? He's been bummed by that other game, hopes ArmA II won't disappoint him and is looking for reassurance from the community here that it won't. Time will tell if he likes it or not, of course. -

The fact that ArmA II is still going as strong as any BIS game ever has says it all. You may have to suffer a few performance issues and random quirks here and there, but all in all you'll have the most flexible, moddable and enjoyable military simulator on the market. Hardly like that "other game". -
I'm almost thinking it was just Codemasters trying to show us what the EGO Engine could "also" do, though not as well as it can do driving games. It seems to have been merely a test to see what the EGO Engine could do, and evolved into a larger project. They must have been trying to make it look robust and flexible. Well, they made one of the least robust and flexible games of 2009 to showcase it, released it half finished, and pissed off customers. Nice way to showoff your "awesome" and "award winning" engine, don't you think? Is it just me, or has the RealVirtuality engine itself not won any awards yet? My God, is that an award heavily overdue...

And from now on, when you mention a great game by the name of "Operation Flashpoint", people will no longer have no idea what it is. Instead, they'll automatically associate with the garbage that is Dragon Rising, not knowing of the gold that came before it. It truly is sad. Wouldn't it be nice if BIS had kept the name and CM could have f*cked off? :(

I can't tell you how happy I am to see the return of RHS. It's just... f*ckin' awesome! :D And your work is incredible as always. I'm highly anticipating more work from you guys.

That means they never planned on having modding for the game aside from mission editing, which isn't even classed as "modding". So, there's yet another thing that they had lied about from the get-go. This reveals that they never actually cared about the reputation behind the OFP name bar making money off of it. Bad community support, bad patching support, no modding tools, no dedicated servers, 64 entity limit. It was a cashgrab from the start.

+1. I might wait for it to be released on DVD/BluRay myself, depending on whether or not I can get it over here.

Threatens the man who has registered just to post it. The thread was already closed once, and then reopened after the situation had cooled down. I find it very odd to see that people are up in arms about content showcased in 2008, in the year 2010, two whole years later. How did you not realize that it was there in 2008? Why is it an issue now, 2 years later, even though BIS/BIA have clearly stated that they are not selling the same content? Sometimes, peoples' logic on the internet just boggles my mind... -
It is definitely an excellent campaign. I think BIS should keep Karel working on campaigns from now on, he rocks at it. :D Though, perhaps he rocks more at the other stuff he's doing for them.
-
Operation Cobalt is a campaign, Loose Ends is a SP mission. All the missions released so far for Operation Cobalt are included in that download.

Crisis is spelled with an I. Crysis is a game. ;) I'm sure someone official from BIS will respond to this and do their best to rectify any wrongdoings. -

Wow... What car are you talking about? Usually you just select your squad and click on the car and they'll get in. Unless you mean something else... -
And every 100 or so pages, there's people telling us to stop talking about it. It's a perpetual cycle. :p

You're not looking in the right place, then. See this picture:

The inclusion of that is something I have never understood... Since when do USMC Force Recon typically use silenced M16A4s?
-
They are. There's 3 mirrors to them in the first post:

The screenshots were taken and edited by NSX. Note the water mark in the bottom left and right hand corners. ;) Awesome looking units, Bink. Will test ASAP.

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta *2*!
Zipper5 replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I hardly ever use the armory. In fact, I don't think I've used it since I installed ArmA II for the first time. I think my situation is similar for many people. It's a really low priority, therefore, because there are other issues that the dev team need to spend their time on, I guess. -
No mod tools and no dedicated server files for BF:BC2
Zipper5 replied to AndresCL's topic in OFFTOPIC
That doesn't surprise me at all. Everyone who told IW to f*ck off ended up buying the game anyways. That's just how it is I guess.
