Hello, I'm working on an object addon called the Sarah Hotel (sounded nice considering BIS called the Island Sarah and it happens to be my lovers name) The thing is gigantic ingame and doesn't seem to have any problems ingame as of yet. Â I wanted to see how ArmA handles gigantic objects compared to OFP, so far so good. (To put the scale in perspective, that thing sticking out at the top will be a Helipad, an MH-6 fits on it right now)Â I'm looking for someone who may be able to texture it for me when I finish the model off. **img removed by moderator - file size to large ** Almost forgot to say, it's based off of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, only I wanted to give it my own flavor. Â I think when it's done it's going to fit perfectly with Sahrani. Â (Will look beautiful with textures and lights, setting the clock time to night or dawn)
-
The geometry works fine, I think the problem is going to be collision detection (I remember making giant skyscrapers in OFP and not having any geometry probs) But the collision detection was a very dissapointing limitation.
-
I may make an interior version, for now just scenery.
-
ohhh yea my bad, hahaha... I was thinking of the Taipei 101 for some reason
-
And this is bad because.....? It has been stated by BIS that porting ArmA1 addons over to ArmA2 will be very easy compared to OFP-->ArmA, so I really don't see a problem here. Well if this is the case, then mod away.

OPF came out in 2001 Zorb.. how was OPF in 2002? (one year later). OPF had many addons, many addon versions, many modified addons, many server specific addon packs... and no JIP. Some people complain about Evolution... in OPF some people complained about CTI, in Arma II they will find something to complain about too. In OPF people wanted blackhawks with miniguns, SF operators with custom M4 rifles, littlebirds, strykers, hmmwv's with TOW launchers, etc. Now that everyone wants to have OPF back theres CWR wich are doing a fine job. Arma expanded more in one year than OPF did . If you consider that making addons for Arma is more complex and time consuming you will apretiate the nice addons out already. You need a break m8, after many months of Arma i had to take a break recently, played some old games for a couple of weeks, wasted 5 days on Crysis (yuk ). It doesn't matter how much time you give ArmA: with ArmA 2 coming out, ArmA1 won't be nearly as big with mods as OFP was. As soon as the mod community for ArmA really picks up, ArmA2 will be on the shelves. ArmA is a lot like the hooker you pick up, plow quickly, then toss to the side when you are done; you're getting married to a better woman (ArmA2) the next day so there is really no need to keep the hooker around.

This may seem very random and pointless, but I think too much and like to share thoughts. Streetlamps? Downloaded Runway lights? Downloaded New Civi Textures? Â Downloaded New soldier textures? Downloaded Every other OFP addon? Downloaded. These are fond memories; visiting OFP.info and downloading every god damn thing you saw to dink around with in the editor. O2 comes out, community explodes, one of the most succesfull mod communities for a PC game erupts, BAS, WW2, SciFi, things went crazy, addons addons everywhere! Â It was so exciting that Bush even invaded Iraq. I look at Armed Assault and say to myself... this is nowhere near Operation Flashpoint. Â What's going on here? Â Why am I not downloading everything from ArmedAssault.info? Â Nothing really appeals to me, aside from the UFO addon that I gigglesnorted with a few days ago. Â And why the fuck are we still in Iraq? It makes me cry at night to sad music, pet my dog while he wimpers, as I look out my window into the rainy road to see a homeless man collect cans from my garbage bin.... And think to myself... Â Why? Â What appealed to me then that does not now? Â Perhaps I just got so used to OFP that ArmA is really nothing new. To be honest, it's something personal and potentially offensive. Â OFP addons > Armed Assault addons, OFP community > Armed Assault community, OFP in general > Armed Assault in general. What the hell is going on? Â Where are my streetlamps? Â Where are my civilians to blow 500 feet in the air with satchels? Â Where is the fixed news reporter babe addon where her fingers aren't all fucked up like some alien from Star Trek that Captain Kirk would bang on some foreign planet? Why are we still in Iraq? It appears to me that the mod community was once this firm strand of toilet paper, and then Armed Assault fell right through the middle of it and split it in two, which caused them both to collapse and tumble into a toilet bowl filled with feces and spunk. It may sound like I'm totally against ArmA, but really I'm not. Â I love Armed Assault and the community it has. Â It's just dissapointing. Â I think we can all agree, things could be a lot better. I was hoping that everyone from the OFP community would jump right over to Armed Assault and the community would remain booming. Â That didn't happen. Very little people are into Armed Assault. Â I hate saying "Armed Assault" and everyone I know goes "HEY! What the hell is that? Â Don't use that kind of foreign language around here, Mr!" Then you say "Battlefield" and their brain radiates with glorious light - grow wings and fly off into the sunset. I'm hoping this all changes with ArmA 2, meaning, I hope BIS makes a better game. Please get ArmA 2 right, BIS. Â Don't slack on the campaign, don't rush, give it some story, give it some cutscenes. Â Give it some MMMFF that will make people say, holy shit, ArmA2 F'ing rocks. Good games generate good reviews, Good reviews generate lots of interest, lots of interest generates lots of sales, lots of sales brings us lots of mod makers, lots of mod makers brings us lots of addons, lots of addons brings me lots of happiness, lots of my happiness brings me to never having to post a message like this on the BIForums again. You reap what you sow, Bohemia. Â Put some extra nitting into this one. I hate to kind of toss the shitbag on BIS and say "great going." Â They seriously did make a great game. Â But every soul in this forum knows damn well that BIS can do better. Put it simply, ArmA is great, but could have been more.

They need to make something like Resistance expansion again. The same, but new and refreshing.

I'm wondering if it's possible to mod the anchor from ArmA. I want to try and retexture him for an Agent 47 addon and apply a new face on him. Would be nice if I could open up his suit like it is in the Hitman games too.

Just upgraded to a 2.8 Ghz processor. I can actually play ArmA decently now. Waiting for my RAM upgrade to come in, that will really give it some mmf.
-
I would more than likely need a new motherboard for that. I wish I had money. I'd be making my own PCs like crazy.
-
Okay, I did some tests and I think I need to upgrade my processor, RAM will come later. Just want to check to make sure this will work before I buy it. I have a Sony PCV-RX650, the processor socket type said mPGA 478, which I assume is socket type 478, but it has a B after it. If I get this from Newegg, will it work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116215 Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Northwood 2.8GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 478 68.4W Single-Core Processor - OEM

I'm thinking of upgrading my PC to run ArmA better but I'm unsure as to what I need. I'm thinking it's RAM, but I'm not sure. My processor is - Pentium 4 1.6 GHz My RAM is - 512 MB My graphics card - Radeon X1300 As you can see, I have an old computer that is crying for upgrades. I went to "Can You Run It" Sys req lab and it says: Minimum, I only fail processor wise Recommended, I fail on RAM, Processor and graphics card (but I'm not too concered about graphics, I'd just like the game to run smooth) Any suggestions? Am I better off upgrading my RAM or processor? I'm limited on $$$ so I need to choose one or the other, unfortunately Any help would make me feel happy inside.

The way I would do it is when the right trigger is being held down (which makes the player sight follow the target), the free Look/Aim (Right Analog Stick) would be less sensitive to touch. Â So moving the right analog to the left as far as it can go will only move the crosshair tardily. Â This could allow for a more accurate shot. The idea would be to have a type of lock-on targeting system put in the game. The player's view will follow the target on its own, it would just be up to the player to get the shot.
-
IF ArmA makes it's way to the 360 - the controls simply need to be revised. I was thinking of a lock-on system - when you hold the right trigger which follows the target as it moves, you can then use the right analog stick, which barely moves the crosshair ahead allowing you to lead targets. (was this in OFP for XBox?) If you are going to make a FPS game on a console where the targets are small and the shooting need to be dead-accurate, auto-target will work wonders. Some would argue, "well that ruins the military simulation aspects of ArmA." Â I disagree. Â What it does is not make you throw your controler across the room and cry in your sleep. Other than that - Armed Assault on console would be a wise decision. Â It's very likely you'll see ArmA on the 360, not to mention Atari has most of their foot in the console realm. It's all going to come down to the controls in the end.

I would have to say AK is the best out there

Body armor has saved lives before, and it continued to do just that, that's the only purpose of body armor. Â I think sending a soldier into the battefield without body armor is like sending a knight into the battlefield without chain mail. Remember that video of the soldier standing on patrol? Â He gets shot, falls down, get's back up and takes cover. Â Did his flesh stop that bullet? Â Come on now.

Not dragon skin, That frickin crap is scary. I forget what I was watching, but they straped a dragon skin vest onto a dummy, shot a few bullets into it, none of them pierced through. Then for good measure they laid the dummy with the vest ontop of a grenade and blew it up. STILL it didnt pierce through.

http://www.armamm.com/ Hello mod makers! Â With the release of Armed Assault finally here, I have a gift that will undoubtedly help you and your mod team manage and organize your projects with ease. Sidus Interactive has had the courtesy to provide Armed Assault mod makers with a licensed web application called Overlord, a Web 2.0 application for managing projects and team members. With advanced task management options, there will never be a question about what each team member's assignments and responsibilities are, or what their progress is; everyone can see exactly what's going on at any time by checking the project overview. Developers can stay focused on creating their game or mod, instead of constantly worrying about who's doing what, when it's going to be done, or what they are supposed to be doing. Communication is a snap with the built-in forum-style message system. Custom message categories for each project mean less clutter and confusion. Messages are stored on the site as long as you want, so you don't have to worry about losing any important information. And they can be tagged, making it easy to find them later. The file manager allows almost all assets to be kept on the site, organized into user-defined folders and tagged with keywords to make finding the right file as easy as possible. Files can also be attached to any item and can be commented on by any user. This is a free service we are providing you with, however we will be setting up a donations button so it can be easy for us to pay off the server and domain name. Features include: Milestones and Timelines Group your tasks into logical Milestones and create a timeline for your project by giving them deadlines and setting up dependencies. Task/Bug Management Overlord uses a simple interface to create, assign, and update tasks and bugs, allowing everyone to stay on track. File Manager with Attachments Each project can have custom folders for uploaded files, and any type of item in a project can have files attached to it. Communication The message system in Overlord works just like a forum, with categories, threads, and replies. All items can also be commented on, allowing quick and easy communication wherever it is needed. Organization With the tagging system and search, you can find anything on the site quickly. Whether you are looking for a particular file, task, message, or milestone, you'll be able to find it. RSS Feeds Overlord automatically maintains RSS feeds for all activity, each project's activity, and each user's assignments. ------- All you have to do is contact me: mark@sidusinteractive.com And provide the following information - 1. Your mod name (ArmAMM.com/YourModName) 2. Provide a valid E-Mail allowing us to contact you 3. Your preferred Username and password to login 4. A link to your mod's homepage (if any) Requirements - Other stuff 1. You must be creating an Armed Assault mod ONLY. Â We do not accept mods for other games. 2. When uploading a file, please don't just leave it there. Â When the file is no longer needed, delete it. Â Please be very conservative of your file upload usage. 3. Do NOT upload any files that do not directly relate to your project. Â This includes any personal photos or files of puppies and kittens, you making love to your wife, etc. Â We will be monitoring file upload usage. 4. You must be SERIOUSLY engaged in creating a mod for Armed Assault. Â We are limited to 20 databases, which means only 20 mod teams will have the privilege of having an account. Â If there is no activity on your page after 2 months the account will be deleted to make room for others. ----------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to play around with Overlord, feel free to play around with the demo located here: http://www.phpoverlord.com/demo/ Good luck, and happy modding!

No payroll, yet, contracts with concept artists/3D artists. Some were even from the OFP community.

That's not necessarily true, Sidus Interactive is an Indie games developer.  With a few projects underway. Shame on me for going off topic but you made me have to post some work. Image 1 - Image 2 - Image 3 Inspired by Bohemia Interactive, of course, lol. I could use a wife   One day you could be looking at this

Children in ArmA: Decency says no, so do PEGI
Zorbtek replied to Tankbuster's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
In the german version I had an unnatural urge to shoot her in the face. Her hands/fingers were also weird and long without the proper animations... Alien vs. Predator shit goin on. I mean, I love women, don't get me wrong. Â I have the utmost respect for them. Â But shooting one in a digital world in the face and then lobbing a grenade on her for good measure is just plain funny. It's all in fun, just remember that. Â As long as you arent shooting real women in real life, what's the big problem? Are you suggesting that games that allow violence towards women teach people/children to be harmful towards women? If so, that's like saying Pac-Man teaches people to eat as many Cheerios as they possibly can. -

Pretty much It got an M for mature rating. It might be ESRB, it might not. After seeing it's rated M I don't think it was ESRB. I'm still curious as to why they went with these billboard cutscenes instead of the interviewer. -

Thats interesting... I was wondering why they took out the female reporter cutscenes. Perhaps it was to do with the ESRB ratings?
